Friday Night Bites by Chloe Neill
Merit has only been a vampire for roughly two months and keeps managing to land herself into a heap of trouble. She is dating the master of another house but secretly longs after the master of her own house. Her position as Sentinel for her house brings her into contact with her master on a regular basis. Her current assignment is to find out who is causing ripples in an already unstable relationship between the supernaturals of Chicago. At Ethan’s request, Merit has to make her way back into a society which she has scorned for years by using her family ties in order to find out who is causing the trouble. However, the answer may surprise them all.
I am absolutely hooked on the Chicagoland Vampires series. This series is skillfully written, stimulating and, in some ways, fun to read. Merit has her deep moments as she struggles with her transition to a vampire and her position between her worlds. She wants to keep one foot in the human world, even as she struggles to accept who she is. Her love life has gotten entertaining as well. I hope to see more of Mallory, Merit’s former roommate, in future books. She is captivating in her own way and her relationship with Catcher would be delightful to explore as well. If you have not yet read Some Girls Bite, the first book in the series, I highly recommend that you do. This is a spellbinding series that will keep you enchanted from the very first page.
Book Excerpt: “The story of a young heiress’s initiation into the dark society of the Chicagoland Vampires continues…
Ten months after vampires revealed their existence to the mortals of Chicago, they’re enjoying a celebrity status usually reserved for the Hollywood elite. But should people learn about the Raves-mass feeding parties where vampires round up humans like cattle-the citizens will start sharpening their stakes.
So now it’s up to the new vampire Merit to reconnect with her upper class family and act as liaison between humans and bloodsuckers, and keep the more unsavory aspects of the vampire lifestyle out of the media. But someone doesn’t want peace between them-someone with an ancient grudge…”

I am also completely enchanted with this series. Both books were absolute page-turners! Side note…for those living in (or have lived in) the Chicagoland area, the subtle references make the book even more enjoyable!
