Silver Kiss by Naomi Clark
Silver Kiss is a fast-paced novel about werewolves, drugs and ferals. Ayla is used to being a lone wolf. She left home so the pack could not dictate her sexuality. Years later she is back in town with her life-partner and mate, Shannon, in tow. Unfortunately, it will not be the peaceful homecoming she was hoping for. Adolescent wolves are on Silver Kiss, a highly addictive, rage-inducing narcotic that has been the cause of several pups disappearances, and it is about to get a lot worse.
Naomi Clark has written creative characters and hard situations. Shannon and Ayla are fighting themselves and each other over human-werewolf relationships — just what Pack means and how far you should go for it, and whether moving closer to home is a mistake. The romantic scenes stop just short of erotic and leave the reader with a pleasant “pan to curtain blowing in the breeze” feeling. The violence is real and gritty, whether shifting from wolf or human, and I love the grit. I feel like Ayla and Shannon definitely should have more books and adventures in the future, as the ending leaves a big chance for a sequel!
