****½

Sir Liam, Knight Templar, 700-year-old keeper of mythical peace, has a problem. For twenty-four years, he has been trying to resist the temptation that is Felicia Zanna Hunter (aka Leeza). He has watched over her, keeping her safe, ever since meeting her as a sparkling child, but lately, she has been driving him insane. Guess what happens when a Templar violates the Balance Mandate’s law of Templar celibacy? Yep, you got it: death. Empirical testing has even proved it true. This isn’t the only challenge this interesting pair will face, but, hey, I don’t want to ruin the entire story *grin*.

This story was a lot of fun. I laughed, I cried; it was entirely too sweet at times. Candice Gilmer not only tied up the loose ends from Unholy Night and A Darker Trinity, but she went above and beyond with Sir Liam and Leeza. Leeza was a blast to read. A klutz working in a handblown glass shop? I love it. She doesn’t just fall into accepting everything but she never questions love. Sir Liam, sigh…I knew he had hidden depths from the first two books in the series, but dang, girl, could you have made him more not-quite-but-close –enough-I-don’t-care perfect? If a gruff exterior ever hid a sensitive soul, Sir Liam stands out as a shining example.

Candice Gilmer didn’t stop there either. New details about the Templars, Melios, and more will finally be revealed, but I have to say she left some intriguing threads unanswered. The girl in particular intrigued me. If A Darker Trinity by Candice Gilmer left readers hanging but happy, Broken Shine will leave them glued to their seats till the last word.
