Theodora Monroe, co-founder of the Paranormal Research and Investigation Services and self-published nonfiction author, will interview Broken Heart citizens for her newest book: Living Supernaturally in Broken Heart. Please help Dora complete the research on her book by asking your favorite paranormal citizen a question. For more information about Broken Heart, visit http://www.BrokenHeartOK.com

Hello, my name is Theodora Monroe, and I’m thrilled to be here at Bitten by Books conducing research for my newest book. We have with us today several members of Broken Heart’s unique parakind community. Please welcome Jessica, Patrick, Eva, Lorcan, Patsy, Gabriel, Libby, Ralph, Damian, Darrius, and Drake.

Jessica: You said there would be truffles.

Theodora: Of course. Later, after the interview.

Patrick: Don’t pout, mo chroi. You will have your Godiva’s.

Patsy: Lord above, Jess. Can’t you go a full minute without sniffing a truffle? It’s chocolate, not sex.

Jessica: I don’t have to talk to a chocolate hater.

Gabriel (clears throat): Perhaps we could get started, Dora?

Theodora:
Um, yes, let me just find my notes…

Damian: Is that a recorder?

Theodora: Well, yes. It’s how to keep my research in order.

Damian: It’s a security risk. What if someone outside of Broken Heart got hold of it?

Darrius: Relax, mien bruder. Who would believe it? Perhaps they would believe this Michele Bardsley is merely writing another lively tale.

Damian: I don’t like it.

Drake: You don’t like anything. Leave the woman alone. Her book is being published by Broken Heart Press and will not be distributed to humans.

Eva: I can’t wait to edit it, Dora. I’m sure it will be fascinating! Now, if I can only get Lorcan to finish his short story collection…

Lorcan: It’s not ready.

Eva (laughing softly): You’ve been writing it for more than a hundred years, at this rate, it’ll never be ready.

Theodora: Perhaps we could just start with the questions asked Bitten by Books readers and go from there.

Patsy: Humans? Shit. How many memories are we gonna have to wipe?

Gabriel: No worries. Zerina bespelled the blog. They won’t remember.

Theodora: All right. Let’s go to the blog…

Question to all of you with children–

It’s difficult enough raising a child in the normal world. Do you think it’s more or less difficult raising them in the world you live in?

    Hey guys,

    I have couple of questions.

My first is for the triplets. Guys, what do you do for fun in Broken Heart? I know most of the vampires have (or are finding) people to be with, but what about y’all? Are there any relationships you guys are keeping from you adoring public?

Your majesty, I was just wondering how the worlds next little loup de sang is doing? Also what did you get for baby shower gifts? I mean what do you get for a baby who will drink blood and one day will begin shifting? I bet y’all are going to need the teething ring from hell for that kiddo.

Finally for Linda and Stan, how did the wedding go with you guys? I mean Linda mentioned that you two got hitched and evidently Stan is now a vampire, but what about all the rest. I mean it has to be romantic. Are we ever going to hear all the details?

    Thanks for letting me ask,

    Z

Jessica, if you could pick one food (besides chocolate) that you miss the most since being turned, what would it be?

Oh, and one general question for all of you:
What types of music do you like to listen to?

    Hello, Qwill!
What is the title of your next book?
    Living Supernaturally in Broken Heart

What type of paranormal being were you most surprised to see in Broken Heart?
Has a name been picked for your granddaughter yet?
Not yet. Ralph and Libby can’t quite agree and my suggestions haven’t exactly been received well. I still say Mondrosa Willette is a fine name.

How many more Broken Heart Oklahoma books do you have planned presently?
Right now, there are seven planned, though if readers keep buying them, who knows how long the series will go? There are also plans for a spin-off series. No details yet, though.

    Hello Virginia!
How did Michele Bardsley find you guys and why did you pick her to write your stories?

She stumbled into town in search of a chocolate store, which unfortunately had closed the year before. We decided she’d be a good human to convey our stories, though we asked her to do it under the guise of fiction. We’re not quite ready to announce ourselves to the human world.

    Hello Algerina!
    Question for Queen Patsy:
What improvements do you have planned for Broken Heart?

Well, I’m finally getting rid of that stupid wall around the compound. And we’ve been moving businesses and people back into Broken Heart proper. It helps that Brady and Simon have been working on the Invisi-shield project. You’ll hear more about that in OVER MY DEAD BODY. We need something to protect us … freaking dragons.

    Question for Ralph:
As a father of twins at what age do you think they should be told about vampires?

Our friend Simone has a six-year-old daughter who knows her mother is a vampire. We figure they should know before they enter school, especially since all the other kids in Broken Heart understand the natures of those who live in the town. I have to say, it’s a conversation that makes me a little nervous. Especially when we have to explain about the dragon issues, too.

Mistress Melissa said: Lorcan, vould you get me one of those “Bite the Vote” T-shirts?
For you, love, I will ask Michele to throw a Bite the Vote T-shirt into the prize pot for those who drop by today.

Jackie B: It’s difficult enough raising a child in the normal world. Do you think it’s more or less difficult raising them in the world you live in?

Jessica says: Having a bloodsucker for a mom isn’t exactly normal. I mean, thank God kids are so resilient. Will they need therapy? I dunno. They’ve all adjusted to night schedules. It’s gotta be weird going to school at eight o’clock a night, right? At least the younger children are growing with things as status quo. Anyway, alive or undead, being a parent is hard damn work.

Nicole Hicks: What is the thing you miss most about being…”normal”?
And:
If you could return to being your old self would you?
Patsy: There are still days I’d kill for a Marlboro. I can eat again, thanks to the wolfie bite, but with these bambinos, no smoking. Yeah, yeah, it’s a vice. Whatever.

Libby: I’ve never been normal. Not even as a human. My parents co-founded a paranormal organization. I’ve searched for death worms, lake monsters, and Bigfoot. Dragons are much of a leap. Would I want to go back? Nah. Immortality has some perks.

Amy: Now, Jessica: what are your favorite truffles and will ONLY Godiva do? How about Ethel M?
Eva: What’s your favorite word (and yeah, I think I’ve watched too much Inside the Actor’s Studio)?

The Muse: I’m sure you all are exhausted from your Halloween celebrations…will you be rested enough to participate in some Turkey devouring this Thanksgiving? What special events do you add to the day?

Patsy: Halloween was a riot, but we sorta glamoured Michele so she couldn’t write about it. It’s all right. Maybe one day we’ll let her tell the tale. Heh.

Jessica: Thanksgiving? Oh, what I wouldn’t give to for a freaking heap of mashed potatoes and a turkey leg. And stuffing! Hey, thanks for bringing it up. I really enjoy thinking about the food I can’t eat anymore.

dorothy l: Can you explain a little of what you are about?

Dora: Oh, my. That could take a while (especially with this bunch). I suggest you check out the community website: http://www.brokenheartok.com

Zach: My first is for the triplets. Guys, what do you do for fun in Broken Heart? I know most of the vampires have (or are finding) people to be with, but what about y’all? Are there any relationships you guys are keeping from you adoring public?

Darrius: Damian doesn’t often allow us to have fun.

Damian: The town and its residents must be guarded. And no one wants to see you naked.

Drake: One time! I got caught skinny-dipping one time! (Sighs) Well, as you know, we must mate with our own kind. Lycan females are rare in Broken Heart right now—at least until the Moon Goddess Festival, which is still months away. Of course, we hope to meet our mates, but only the Goddess knows when.

Damian: None of us are in relationships. Relationships blind you to your duty and blur the lines of loyalty.

Darrius: He has a broken heart, so he’s jaded against lurve.

    Damian: (Growling) Shut. Up.

Dora: Okay, boys, that’s enough. Let Patsy answer Zach’s questions.

Your majesty, I was just wondering how the worlds next little loup de sang is doing? Also what did you get for baby shower gifts? I mean what do you get for a baby who will drink blood and one day will begin shifting?

Patsy: Well, let me just say, holy freaking crap. The rug rats are double handfuls. It’s a good damned thing I have Gabriel and my son Wilson to help. They have to blood and wolf’s milk right now. As for baby shower gifts, I got the usual stuff. Jess bought matching collars, and thought that was a real hoot. Eva and Lorcan actually got us these vampire teething rings … the kids love ’em.

Finally for Linda and Stan, how did the wedding go with you guys? I mean Linda mentioned that you two got hitched and evidently Stan is now a vampire, but what about all the rest. I mean it has to be romantic. Are we ever going to hear all the details?

Jessica: Linda and Stan aren’t here, but they are always slobbering all over each other. Probably doing that right there. Anyway, one day Michele will write their story and you’ll know all the details.

Sarai: Jessica, if you could pick one food (besides chocolate) that you miss the most since being turned, what would it be? Oh, and one general question for all of you:
What types of music do you like to listen to?

Jessica: I miss all foods. A good steak. Some wild salmon. Even a salad. Who knew I’d miss freaking lettuce?

Are there any book groups in Broken Heart?

    [Reply]

  21. Comment by Zach — November 7, 2008 @ 12:17 pm

    Hey again guys,

Damian, I hate to say it but you need to relax. You are a workaholic. I know there are reasons, but you need to become part of your community. I apologize if I seem to be over stepping, but I have to say this. You and your brothers are the greatest guardians (forgive the word choice) that Broken Heart could ask for, but you need to become part of the community, not just its protection. It is one thing to guard it because it is your duty. It is another to guard it because you love what you guard as part of you. Take Darius and Drake. They seem to guard the town not just because it is there job, but also because they love the people in it. Jessica’s kids, Wilson, Tamara, and the newest members Patsy and Gabriel’s kids, not to forget Libby’s daughter it seems to me they protect it for them as well as because it is their job. I know it may be hard for you with all the history involved, but all I can say is find someone or something in that town you can care for. Maybe not love in the sense of sex and all that but something that means more to you than yourself. Protect it for him or or it not just because it is your job, but because you want to protect them.

Sorry had to get that off my chest.

    As for a questions,

Eva I have read all of Michele’s books and I am always looking for new authors. Who do you and Lorcan enjoy reading?

Jessica: I’m in love with all of Godiva’s truffles, but I particularly like the champagne and those pecan pie ones (which are only available in the fall). Oh, I love Ethel M, too. If it’s chocolate, I’m in!

Eva: My favorite word? Oh, my. That’s difficult to determine. Let me ruminate…

    [Reply]

  26. Comment by Michele Bardsley — November 7, 2008 @ 1:47 pm

Darrius: Zach, my man, you’re brave. Damian usually makes mincemeat outta people who suggest he relax. Trust me.

Eva: Lorcan and I read a wide spectrum of fiction and nonfiction, but in the paranormal genre, we particularly enjoy Charlaine Harris, MaryJanice Davidson, Dakota Cassidy, Mark Henry, Richelle Mead, Jackie Kessler … well, I suppose this list can get really long.

Dearest Carmen, for you, the vampires in Broken Heart would gladly bare their fangs and sip from your lovely neck.

Darrius: Sewicked, after reading Zach’s advice, Damian’s not displaying a sense of humor.

Drake: What sense of humor? (laughs) I think highlights would be nice.

    Darrius: Yeah. Blonde.

Qwill asked: Do you teach the children Paranormal History at school?

Eva: Absolutely. They have a whole different take on mythology and legends. Especially when a goddess comes in and gives a talk about the Celtic myths. LOL.

Jackie B wrote: Any plans on expanding outside of Broken Heart? Maybe starting smaller communities around the area?

Patsy: Oh, lord. Like we need more on our plate. I’m sure the Consortium has plans to do more communities–at least if this one works.

Patrick: Yes, we want to do more parakind communities, though given all the problems we’ve had with Broken Heart, new para-towns in the US are years away.

    Garnetstar asked: What scares you?

Jessica: Well, there are advantages to be the Boogey Man, you know, but hell what’s really scary is knowing there is bigger and badder out there in the world … even worse things than us. If vampires and lycans are scared of it, you guys should be terrified.

Marnie asked: My question is for Jessica and Patrick… just how many tiara’s did your daughter get? Also, Patrick, will Mom and dad have their own story?

Jessica: Frankly, I’ve lost count on the tiara issue. I blame Patrick. And the triplets. And Ruadan.

Patrick: My human mother died a very long time ago. As for my mother, he’s a fickle soul who enjoys his freedom. I haven’t met a woman yet who could win his heart. \

Fabulous interview everyone! Thanks for stopping in.

I was wondering how you all would feel if non-vampire (and non-donor) or lycans wanted to move to Broken Heart. Not just anyone mind you but those who are comfortable with the paranormal aspect of the community. (and of course, they would all have to pass extensive background and security checks). Also, how do you deal with socializing the kids in so called normal society outside of Broken Heart?

I was wondering how you all would feel if non-vampire (and non-donor) or lycans wanted to move to Broken Heart. Also, how do you deal with socializing the kids in so called normal society outside of Broken Heart?

We have human donors, of course, and we also have Wiccans who’ve recently moved in. Regular ol’ humans may have a tough time adjusting, although Dora, Elmore, and Brady have done well. Then again, they believe in the paranormal.

The kids are doing well. Sure we have some concerns about how the kids might have to re-adjust to the human world should they want to leave Broken Heart, but … we have time to figure out a plan.

Question for Michele: Will Ruadan ever find anyone? Or Brigid?

I have no plans to write a love story for Brigid. She’s just … Brigid. But who knows? I would love to write Ruadan’s story, but it’s not yet in the works.

Question for Dora: Do you miss anything now that you and your “group” of humans live in an all supernatural town?

Are you kidding? I live in paranormal mecca. I don’t have to find proof–I see it every day!

A little glamour goes a long way. :-) The children are adjusting very well. Those who are morning people are still annoyingly perky when they wake up in the evenings.

What about when children wake up from nightmares in the middle of the day? How many baby sitters do y’all have?

I have a question for Ralph. Now that you are back to your old self, is Libby’s blood poisonous to you? Or do you retain some resistance? And do you still have the Mating mark?
And Libby, now that you have the interaction with other draconic beings, what is the most amazing thing you’ve learned? What is the thing that will make your unborn daughter so special? And just who and what is the goth boy you have been saddled with?

Glamour means sweet dreams for all the children. The lycanthropes guard the vampires’ homes, so no worries there. Some vampires have humans who live in their households to help out with the daylight issues. But mostly Broken Heart is lively at night.

The consensus from the Turn-bloods appears to be … food, glorious food. The older vampires don’t miss all that much, although some yearn for basking in the sun. Just a little.

No, Libby’s blood isn’t poisonous to me because we’re mated. We’re on odd case since Libby wasn’t born a dragon but sorta made one. Still have our marks … vampire and dragon.

And Libby, now that you have the interaction with other draconic beings, what is the most amazing thing you’ve learned? What is the thing that will make your unborn daughter so special? And just who and what is the goth boy you have been saddled with?

Dragon 101 has been really interesting. My kid has 50/50 shot of being able to fully shift (you know, me being a human an’ all), but will probably breathe fire and have some seriously bad-ass dragon powers. Like me. Fire rocks. Rand is our handler. He’s a human trained to … well, train dragons. He’ll help with our daughter when she’s born and he’s teaching me and Ralph a few things, too.

Lorcan, Is there any way that you can share a few of your stories with us, you know until you finish it and we can read all of them?

Also, can everyone tell us 1 thing that we don’t know about you?

MM — Lorcan is wallowing … we’ll pass along your message. :-)

Lynda — Lorcan refuses to share any of his stories, other than the one that appeared in DON’T TALK BACK TO YOUR VAMPIRE. I’ll work on him, though, see if he’ll add one or two to the Broken Heart website. One thing people don’t know about Lorcan … he likes musicals. Heh.

Dora how do you truly feel about Stan still being alive and out of contact for so long? And could you share the family secret as to why the mind control won’t work on the family? Including your husband?
And I was wondering if there are going to be any vampire/werewolf mixes once the weres have their ceremony accepting Patsy….Are there any hidden lusts in those mixes?
Are we going to get to see the triplets get “hitched” too? Even though it will break alot of hearts, they deserve a happy ever after too!

Hi Cindy — Believe it or not, most of us like to bowl. And Jessica’s developed a fondness for the Wii. The lycans want a strong woman who can not only take their crap, but dish it back. Right now, they have to mate with another lycan … but who knows what trick or magic or discovery that might lead to inter-species mating. :-) And Michele says, YEAH GODIVA’S.

Nicole — From Dora: Stanley was always quite smart, if not the most sociable of people. I was thrilled to see he was alive, but although I wished he could’ve confided in us, I respect his choices. The free novella on the Broken Heart website gives some insight into WTYVGH. Basically, it was Brady who helped us resist glamour.

Lycans and Roma will welcome Patsy and Gabriel into their world in a special ceremony next June. More about that in OVER MY DEAD BODY.

We hope the princes will get their stories. Wait and see!
