I grew up reading horror and nothing floats my boat like a well written horror anthology. Buried Tales of Pinebox, Texas is pure, creepy fun with each story building on the lore of the town. This collection of short horror will make you rethink the monster under your bed and look at your closet in another way.

Pinebox appears to be a town like any other at first glance. Upon further inspection, there is evil and madness bubbling beneath the surface. If you are driving and see an exit to Pinebox, it would be better to keep driving.

Like all anthologies there seem to be a few stories that stay with you. One of these was “The Witch of Linda Lane”. I think most people can look back to their childhood and remember some little old lady that you just knew had to be a witch. In this story, all your childhood fears come back to life as you witness brave children trying to put an end to the witch’s reign of terror.

“Off Radio” is the story of murder. When the killer is revealed, we are stunned to realize we can feel sympathy for such a horrible creature.

“Last Exit To Pinebox” is the story of a couple who find themselves in a Pinebox diner and quickly realize something is terribly wrong, making us ponder if their actions were predestined or just an unlucky choice.

The stories are well written, and there are a nice collection of news clippings included that give us a glimpse into the town’s take on events.
