Love at First Stake by J. Morgan

This book was undeniably one of the highlights of my week. The satire and wit abounds in this first book in J. Morgan’s Love Bites series which had me laughing out loud throughout the entire book. References to current social events and both real and fictional entertainers not only adds to the humor but also brings the characters to life in a more corporeal form. Parnormal fans of Buffy, Angel, Ash, and Anne Rice will be amused by references to these legends in the genre.

First time Slayer Savannah Marshall has staked her first vampire on the first night out alone on patrol. Unfortunatley for the vampire, besides leaving a big hole in his shirt and his chest, he must deal with a quirky, although sexy, nutcase who just tried to stake him. Savannah has trouble figuring out what went wrong with her stake; it worked for Buffy, so what had she done wrong? She had done everything by the St. Vlad’s Academy of Vampire Slayers book and, as a 12th generation slayer, she should be a natural.

Donnie, actually Donatello Demarcus Ravell, or better known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Vampire to Savannah, is actually one of the good vampires and is out to capture the rogue vampire Rudolpho who is the cause of all the recent brutal vampire activity. Savannah wants to believe he is one of the good guys even if it is only her rapid infatuation with the hunky vamp that is the basis of her change of - that, and the improbable immaginings of a Buffy/Angel connection between them.

The unlikely duo find that they cannot deny their attraction and decide to combine their knowledge and forces to defeat the ancient vampire. The only problems in their way are a bunch of newbie vamps, a sadistic ancient vampire determined to take over the world, her Boss and head of the Academy, the Super Slayer of this generation who happens to be her brother and finally DAD. And where else for a certifiable vampire bent on world domination go to overtake those in his way but the famed Super Dome!

Mr. Morgan has a new fan after reviewing this latest offering! This was a superb read that was not only entertaining but had me ROTFL! Fans of Dakota Cassidy, Katie MacAlister and Michelle Bardsley will love J. Morgan! A MUST read for anyone with a funny bone this will leave you wanting more.
