Opposite Sex by Gina McQueen
Jasmine Colter arrives at her hotel to discover Super-Fantasticon. The convention is for fantasy/sci-fi/horror authors and fans. There are over 5,000 fans swarming all around the hotel. They are all dressed to resemble a Sci-Fi Mardi Gras. She easily connects with one handsome man encircled by groupies. They both felt the electricity when they looked into each other’s eyes. There was an instant connection which filled their hunger.
The depths of their encounter are so strong that you can sense what the characters feel. It is amazing how much the reader can experience through their actions and words. Now imagine what it would be like to experience these same emotions as the opposite sex. What if you could actually experience arousal and encounters as the other gender? Interestingly, the book that Taylor is about to release introduces this very concept: transforming one’s self to the opposite sex.
Jasmine is in town to meet her childhood friend Zak. He can’t meet up with her until the following day, so she is on her own for the night. The first thought that comes to mind is hotel sex with strangers. She quickly locks in on one particularly handsome stranger. The very thought of him instantly makes her tingle. She finds herself imagining how she would appear to him through his eyes. Taylor Shea, a playboy fantasy writer, is an author of Erotic Fantasias. He is at the convention to promote his yet to be released novel Opposite Sex. Surprisingly, he strongly prefers to love and connect with his partners. He too felt the immediate connection and sparks as he locked eyes with Jasmine. Could she be the “one” he’s been searching for all this time?
Gina McQueen’s novel Opposite Sex introduces the same transformation concept as her character Taylor’s book to her readers. There are moments during the characters’ encounters that you can witness and feel their written emotions. McQueen’s concept is interesting and is held together with excitement and yearning. The momentum increases throughout their encounters, but unfortunately all is lost at the end.
The conclusion, and transformation of the characters, was deficient compared to the erotic and emotional encounters. The heightened emotional and sexual arousal of the storyline abruptly disappears and ends without the sparks experienced throughout the novel.

The concept sounds really interesting, but I don’t like to read books just for their erotic content - they have to have some emotional substance also.
