Robard needs to marry for the good of his country and he has two choices. By choosing Tazia, he unknowingly makes a decision that will benefit his entire world. Tazia is a young lady whose life has already been difficult due to her father’s mistress. What Tazia doesn’t yet realize is that the lessons she’s inadvertently learned will stand her in very good stead. An illness is coming that will rock this couple’s world and help solidify their relationship.

Tazia has been raised by her father’s mistress. Unknown to her father, Halla has made Tazia’s life a misery. By escaping into an arranged marriage, Tazia hopes to become her own person. The journey from a young, naive woman to an adult is not an easy one, but Tazia emerges a strong willed, caring person and the journey is well worth it.

Robard is a typical male. He definitely thinks about the physical pleasures first but has a serious side which soon comes through. Robard shows himself to be a very caring individual with a good dollop of brains. For some reason, I think Robard actually loses a bit of character and seems a bit, um, predictable near the end. For all that, he is a very likable spouse.

I quite enjoyed this book. Overall, a very relaxing read of what seems to be a pure fantasy genre. While nothing stands out as WOW, I would read more of this world and from this author. This is the third in a series but very readable as a standalone. However, I possibly would have been more pulled into the story if I’d read the first two. This book is very enjoyable but not stunning because a lot of the storyline was predictable.
