Absinthe is a distilled spirit made with a blend of herbs that has a licorice taste. It was once believed to have hallucinogenic properties, and there are legends that surround this legendary drink about the Green Fairy often called the Muse. As the legends tell it, you can find a green fairy in the depths of the bottles. But don’t be too keen to find the Muse as finding her can lead to madness followed by death. Truly great men have fallen into the yellow haze created by the Green Fairy, just look to history and Vincent van Gogh.

Absinthe is the heart and soul of this book in more ways than a mere mortal woman could be. She seeps into your pores and invades your soul. By clouding the boundaries of reality, Absinthe allows the Green Fairy to appear, but is she real? Many do not even remember her name, Dahlia. Writers and artists love her and call her the Muse; they strive to be worthy of her attention even knowing of the madness that may follow.

Stephen has loved Dahlia from afar ever since the funeral of her lover ten years ago. They shared a secret moment that stayed in his young mind and has ruined him for a real relationship. Now, ten years have past and Dahlia has come to claim him for all time. Stephen has never wanted to be a writer but now he must.

Interesting, I must say. A bit disjointed, but I think purposely so. If you like this sort of twisted, rambling story, it is very good and does have many interesting theories, but I found the overall effect of descending into madness too much for me.

Book Excerpt: “I certainly didn’t help matters, but that man was mad long before I met him,” she replies. “I’m the daughter of absinthe and insanity. I was a figment of
his imagination, but I made him a great artist.”

She sighs and I can feel that on my cock, too.

“He had to paint me,” she says. “He had to make me real, but he was too
mad to function in the real world. The poor damned fool; he loved me and he
sent me to the one place where he couldn’t follow. I can only be myself when I’m
with a madman.”

It’s a disquieting thought. She’s with me now. She has made me a writer,
because she needs me to be one. She has driven me insane, because she needs to
be with a madman.”
