Kaila is a woman born to privilege but with a deep sense of responsibility for her people. Garou is the Chief of the Wolf Clan, a group of marauders who have come to Kaila’s kingdom with pillaging in mind. An uneasy agreement has brought Kaila to Garou to protect her people, but this act has brought Kaila more than one type of danger.

Overall, this short story is fair to middling, although I found the conversations a little underdeveloped and lacking in depth. Steiger does a decent job with the intimate scenes, and there’s definitely greater attention to detail when Kaila and Garou make love. However, I am disappointed in the ending which seems unfinished and contradictory to the nature of the characters.
