Animal Instincts by Brenna Lyons
Animal Instincts by Brenna Lyons opened with a rape and didn’t ever recover. Maybe I’m being too hard on it, but I can’t get over the fact that Mattayas, the male lead, tied up Anha, the female lead, before raping her in front of the corpse of the man she was previously having sex with and two of Mattayas’s packmates. No matter what Mattayas does after that, he is not a good man, and I can’t sympathize with him.
The events that followed the public rape failed to interest me. The characters remained one-dimensional, the lingo used was distracting, and the situation was simply unbelievable. Though I try to find something I like about a story, even if the story itself doesn’t interest me, I simply couldn’t with this one. Because of this, I give Animal Instincts 1 tombstone.
