Black Dragon’s Heart by Anita Philmar
For Jack Ramsey, this mission was very personal: rescue Sarah VanHorn from the corporation that had her kept a virtual prisoner and return her to the safety of her family. Jack was a professional, and this was a simple task, but Sarah was no simple woman. Sarah stirred his golden dragon blood like no other. She was his, and this time, Jack was going to stake his claim. Jack wasn’t about to let anything get in his way - not the corporation, not her older brother and not the little fact that golden dragon blood flowed through his veins. Sarah VanHorn was his, and it was about time she realized it. Sarah loved her job and her family. She knew that both were equally important to her yet she longed for a family of her own, but the one man who stirred her black dragon blood, Jack Ramsey, didn’t want to settle down, or did he? Sarah knows what she wants but can she convince him to want her back? Rescued from a situation she thought she had under control, Sarah finds herself on a mission to make the permanent bachelor realize that she was just what he wants and needs. Now if Jack and Sarah can just survive the bad guys long enough to trust each other, things might just work - well, that also depends on if they actually learn to talk to each other.
Black Dragon’s Heart Heart delved into the lives of two very complex and rich characters. Jack Ramsey is a man that knows what he wants but realizes that wanting doesn’t necessitate instant gratification. I like that about Jack. You felt his suffering brought on by his own actions and you actually understood the motivation surrounding his choices. He was very real, and I loved him for it. Any woman could relate to Sarah VanHorn’s passion for family, friends, career and sexy man; what makes her a stellar heroine is the fact that while she has fears but doesn’t let them win out in the end. Sarah confronts her fears - okay it might take her a bit but she eventually does.
First off, I must say I love the dragon world that Anita Philmar has created. I love her heroes and heroines. I was so excited to get my hands on this book and I was not disappointed. If you are familiar with the previous Black Dragon stories, you will find that Black Dragon’s Heart is a wonderful addition to this world; this one is not only a hot, steamy read, it’s also a love story between a man and woman that have known each other for years and both realize it’s now or never. The characters are rich, complex and real. They respond emotionally how I imagine I would in a similar situation and they learn and grow. I do recommend that you read the first two books in order before reading Black Dragon’s Heart; even though it isn’t needed, it will enhance the overall reading experience. Why did I like this book so much? It was real. It was hot, the chemistry between Jack and Sarah steamed up my reader screen, those dragon techniques are scorching. It had a conflict and very solid mystery plot. It has Jack and Sarah. I really hope that this isn’t the last story in the dragon world because I truly look forward to seeing what is next. Pick this up; you won’t be disappointed.
