Primal Desires by Susan Sizemore
Sofia Hunyara randomly received a letter from someone proclaiming to be her long lost relative and asking her to meet with him and other family members so she can learn more about her ancestry. While there, Sofia encounters a whole world of crazy - crazy that just is not possible in the normal world. Wolf Tamers, werewolves, and vampires? No way! She cannot consider the existence of such creatures. Her cousin, the only relative she has kept in contact with throughout the years, is missing and needs her help. This world that her great uncle wants her to be a part of, the same world her great-grandfather, grandfather and even father kept from her, just has to wait while she focuses on something real -her missing cousin who has nothing to do with the crazy she has been shown lately.
Jason Cage is Prime of his vampire family and also has a promise to keep to the Hunyara family. He has the ability to telepathically communicate with wild animals, especially wolves and werewolves, which brings him to house of Pashta Hunyara who asks him to train his great niece Sofia to not only acknowledge her Wolf Tamer abilities but also the know how to use them. What Jason did not expect was a woman with strong psychic powers, a primal attraction that makes him forget everything else around him and this intense urge to protect her from all harm. But she refuses to acknowledge the supernatural exists. All the while, someone is after her family and, most alarming, they are especially after her and her rare, very rare, blood.
History is trying to repeat itself. Jason knows how to prevent it from happening but he needs to convince Sofia to join him and take hold of the Wolf Tamer powers hidden within her. Otherwise, what the Nazis did WWII Germany would be nothing in comparison to what could take place now.
Susan Sizemore has an amazing knack for taking you out of the world you live in and into the one she has created. It is always fun to see the impossible be done - and in a way that makes sense, too! Ms. Sizemore did just that with Primal Desires. The story is definitely three dimensional as subplots and secondary characters also make you keep reading word after word as you become interested in their stories as well, wanting to know what happens to them in the long run. It was truly a fun read that went by way too fast.
