Stay With Me by Ruby Duvall
Emma is a modern day woman heading to a Halloween party in her beautiful fairy costume. She is also wearing a locket that looks old and worn.
Ian MacArthur is a tall man with broad shoulders who is a member of the Clan Campbell a few hundred years in the past.
One minute, Emma is driving to a party in the rain and, next thing she knows, she is laying in a forest holding her steering wheel. Her locket also seems to have changed and now looks brand new. She finds messages in the locket, but they keep changing. Emma tries her cell phone but has no signal so she decides to try and find help. What she finds is a small village with what she hopes are just actors but has a bad feeling that they are the real thing. Ian, his brother-in-law and niece are at his home when what seems like a fairy comes out of nowhere. Everyone seems to think that she is the real thing but Ian. Ian is not the trusting sort but he can’t help wanting to believe that she is because his cold heart seems to thaw when he is around her.
Stay with Me by Ruby Duvall was a wonderful read, and I loved every minute that I spent with Emma and Ian. It was funny reading about how Emma had to learn to make bread versus wanting to just run out and buy a loaf. Ian is a quiet man who used to live alone but finds himself with a woman he hardly knows but wants to be the right man for her. These two strike compromises and find themselves falling for each other but are too pigheaded to admit it until it is almost too late.
