never read the book, or heard of it before for that matter, but it looks interesting enough. If anyone has read it, let me know if it’s any good please!
BBB- did everything!

Ah the book that followed me home from the bookstore. Haven’t had a chance to crack it just yet.

Haven’t gotten around to reading this yet. My TBR pile continues to grow, so it might be awhile.
Sometimes I think it might be cool to see and talk to ghosts, but then–middle chick that I am–I see the downside too. You may get nasty spirits at your back or ghosts are bothering you for your help at all the wrong moments.
I think a historical setting could be pretty neat for an urban fantasy story setting. I’ve read Colleen Gleason’s the Gardella Chronicles–or something like that–and those were pretty cool for being set in the Victorian age. I think I would give this a try once I reach the point of nothing to read and a release doesn’t come out for a few weeks.

I have this book to read but have not done so yet.
1. I would love to be able to talk and see ghost. It would be fun to be able to help them.Besides I could learn a lot from them also.
2. Amanda QIck, Jayne Ann Krentz has the Arcane series that some of the books are set in the victorian age and they continue in today settings also. I love all of her books. She writes like this a lot.
3. I loev the historical setting for urban fantasy. Ir just gives them more interesting settings to read.

I have not heard of this. I love how BBB adds new books/authors to my TBR list! I am *highly* intrigued by this! I adoreadoreadore stories set in Victorian England! (or just England period - especially adding the Victorian part) I adore “historical fiction” — mix that in with “urban fantasy” & I’m sold! I am definitely adding this to my list!
What Kayla said up there!
On Amazon - the “customers have also bought…” books are things I either own or are on my list.
My question is - for those that have read it — Say it was made into a movie - what actors or actresses do you see playing the characters?

I have not read the book. I have seen ghosts before and there are no words in my vocabulary to describe the experience. I do not like historical settings. I have done 2-5. Lisa D.

Hey Bitten By Books friends!
What a treat to find my debut novel discussed here! I love this site and I’m thrilled to find some interested and savvy readers here!
If anyone has any specific questions for me, I’ll be happy to answer them.
This is the first in the STRANGELY BEAUTIFUL series and combines all my great loves into one series, Gothic (I adore the rich atmosphere and thrilling spooky quality of Gothic novels) Ghosts (was telling ghost stories since I can remember) Fantasy / Paranormal (a world in which anything can happen and in which reality is always unique is my kind of world) a really sweet and sensual Romance (I’m not interested in stories that lack love) Victorian England (full of conflict, repression mixed with sensuality, finely tailored corsets and grit mixed with grandeur) and Greek Mythology!
I’ve been referring to this book as my ‘love letter to the world’ - I look forward to sharing it with those who have not read it and hope to have everyone with me as the series continues April 2010! I thank Bitten By Books for my stunningly lovely review here, and for the opportunity you’re providing today.
I’ll be checking back in here to see if anyone has questions / thoughts - I love hearing people’s responses. I’ve seen things I cannot explain and I confess that I’d be curious to have Percy’s ability to see ghosts. However it would likely be a case of “Be careful what you wish for!’
Pease keep in touch via Twitter (@leannarenee) or Facebook http://tinyurl.com/sbsfan because I’ll be launching a new contest this week!
Be back soon!

Hi, I have read this book and it is awesome. I would love to talk to ghosts. I’ve had psychic experiences before but I’ve never actually a physical presence when it comes to ghost. I haven’t read a great deal of urban fantasy and I picked this book up strictly because it was set during the Victorian era which I love.

Haven’t read this one but sounds like one I would enjoy immensely. Love historical fiction and loved Gleason’s “Gardella” books that were set in the Victorian era.

1) I would only want the ability to see and talk to ghosts if I could turn it on and off to help them. I wouldn’t want one suddenly appearing and causing a car accident, for example, but they could be handy with warnings.
2) I like Gothic suspense and even took a class about it in Spanish. I haven’t read this, but it’s going on my wish list.
3) I liked Buffy in Jack the Ripper England, so yeah, I like historical.
Hi, Leanna! Those are all the things I like! Greek mythology, too?
Cool. .

Hello Elizabeth! Thanks so much for joining us here!
I’m so thrilled to be added to TBR piles, and excited to find some fellow fans of all these elements, R.E.B! (Yes, I couldn’t hold myself back from throwing Greek Mythology in with the swirling cauldron of ingredients *s*)
CAROL!
*hugs* Yay for you and for DragonCon! I cannot wait to go again next year and hope I get the pleasure of seeing you again, yes?

Leanna, I will indeed be there again next year, and it will be great to have you back again.
I can’t wait for book two — so exciting.
I will come back tomorrow with comments and more questions, in addition to the ones I posted to get this party started.

1.Hi Leanna! I first saw this book on The Book Smugglers when they reviewed it awhile back, and it’s been on my list since then, I just haven’t had funds for my book habit this year
lol.
…but I really want it! Both this one & Soulless (which I’ve not gotten yet either) have that same victorian-y, gothic-ish, romantic vibe going in their descriptions, covers, etc and I’m drawn to that because it just seems so beautiful. I love paranormal/suspense romance, and I look forward to winter break so I can make time to read it finally…and maybe even recieve it as a gift if the fam cooperates & actually looks at my wish list
well, Im follwing ya on twitter and FB now too, so thanks for chatting w/us!
2. Attended and commented at the Friday Feature Vlog Chat & Contest but it wasn’t w/author Shiloh Walker, it was Catherine Bybee. Still great, but perhaps I did something wrong for this link?

Hi Leanna! I didn’t get a chance to check back yesterday after I commented & missed that you stopped by - I’m not sure if you’ll see this, but I wanted to comment! Thanks for posting your FB fan page & Twitter!
I have not read the book yet - but I’m looking forward to reading it! I love historical/urban/all that mixed together! I commented earlier asking people who they would cast in a movie version - who would your dream cast be?
What is the best thing you have read recently?
[Reply]
I wouldn’t want the ability to see ghosts because I’m too chicken!

Hi guys!
I’d actually tried to comment again last night but my internet was being wonky. So I’m back now.
Carol, so glad I’ll get to see you again!
Hi Bella!
Glad I’m on your list, I totally understand the funds thing! Be sure to enter my contest at http://www.leannareneehieber.com/contests as I’m doing a contest to give away an 8 CD Audio Book copy of STRANGELY BEAUTIFUL! (Although I hope you’ll get all your books on your wish list!)
Yes, all Victorian-y stuff is just my life-blood, I’m so thrilled you love it too! Thanks for joining me at Twitter and FB, I look forward to seeing you there!
Dovile,
Don’t worry, not all my ghosts are mean. Most of them are really nice and sweet! (Only a few of them are the bad guys!)
Hey Libby!
Thanks and you’re welcome - Thanks so much for hosting me here, what a wonderful treat - I’m so thrilled you like all those elements mixed too!
Movie dream cast:
Well, when I started this book 9 (yes, count ‘em 9) whole years ago, I envisioned the hero Alexi as Alan Rickman. *swoon* In my head, it’ll always be Alan but as he’s too old to play him in the movie now, I want Richard Armitage (North & South, Robin Hood (BBC) MI-6). And give Dakota Fanning a few years and she’d be the PERFECT Percy Parker. There’s a significant age difference between the two, it just can’t be icky. Secondary characters: Michael Sheen as Vicar Michael Carroll, Cate Blanchett as Headmistress Thompson, David Tennant as Lord Elijah Withersby, (I’m blanking on the woman who played Lily Potter) but her as Jane and someone French and beautiful as Josephine Belledoux.
Best thing I’ve read recently:
C.L. Wilson - she’s one of my idols.
[Reply]
Leanna -

no joke, you just listed done of my favorite actors!! I love Alan Rickman,(did you ever see Truly, Madly Deeply?), David Tennant, Cate, etc I’ve seen BBC’s Robin Hood airing - but I know the series finale aired last night. I fell behind in series 2 & I wanted to rewatch series 1… So I need to rent series 1, 2 & 3 (was there another?) There are SO many things I want to watch & read!
I actually started reading your book today! I couldn’t resist. & I finished what I was reading this morning - nice timing!
Never read anything by C. L. Wilson - I’ll add that to my list of things to check out.
Thanks for your reply!!

I haven’t read this book, I hadn’t even heard of it till today but it sounds like a great read. I’m not sure I’d want to be able to see and hear all ghost but maybe some. I think at times I can fell them or hear things that I can’t explain or see that they maybe doing. Who knows. As I haven’t read this I can’t say if it reminds me of any other book. I do love to have historical setting in any book I read so it will be a great addition in this book.

Yay Libby!
Great to see we have the same tastes in wonderful actors ! *swoon*!
Thanks for reading my book, that makes my day!
I’d love to see if BBB would want to be a stop on my “Haunted London Blog Tour” that I’ll be rolling out in April for the sequel release, could you drop me a line at leannareneehieber@yahoo.com and let me know if that might be possible?
And Multi-NYT Bestseller C.L. Wilson is incredible, High Fantasy Romance, she’s wonderful. I have the honour of a Strangely Beautiful series novella being included in a Fantasy Romance Christmas Anthology she’s headlining in October 2010! (Dorchester)
Belinda,
Thanks and I hope you’ll enjoy the beginning of the Strangely Beautiful series, I’m very excited about how it’s progressing, I’d love to have you on board!
