    1. Yay! I series I’ve actually read all of. Well, actually I listened to the first two. My library had them on cd, but I wasn’t a big fan of who was reading them, so I think that kind of effected how I felt about them at first. I simply read Fragile Eternity and liked it much better that way. As for a scene from the first book, I really can’t remember the first book enough for that. But I think it would be scarier to be like Seth and to know they’re there, but not be able to see them.

I’ve never read these books - yet again- another one on my list! (really!) I am curious - my friend that recommended these did not read Ink Exchange. I asked her just the other week about it & I wasn’t sure if it was book 2 or 3. According to the list here - I see it’s #2. I always thought Fragile Eternity was #2. Oops! I’m glad the order was listed here!

For those that have read them - say you could pick your dream cast for a movie - who would you cast in the film version of the books?

This is a great series. It was the first fae book that I ever read and I was impressed. MMarr does a brilliant job of worldbuilding. I really felt like I was there. Seth is my favorite character. How about everyone else. Anyone rooting for the Summer King?

I actually just ordered this book–a gift from my sweetie for my b-day (still waiting at the door for it to arrive). So I haven’t read it yet, but I will soon *strokes evil kitty in lap* very soon. I’ve heard loads of good things about it, plus I believe Melissa’s sold the movie rights. That’s huge for a writer, so I figured I HAD to pick it up.

I too enjoy the Wicked series. Or whatever the title series is called. I like Ash, but there were a lot of things that made me upset in Fragile Eternity which I won’t get into. Another friend of mine agrees. Really looking forward to where the next book goes. Really interested in what her adult urban fantasy series will be like too.

    1. It would be scary to know faeries exist but not be able to see them like Seth.
    2. I can’t remember my favorite scene. It’s been so long since I’ve read these books.
    3. I think the teens are portrayed realistically. What I like about this YA series is that there is a lot of focus on this world of faeries and not to much teen drama.

I’ve voted this week in the poll.

This is an awesome series! I cannot wait for the 4th book! I think it would be scarier to be like Seth, unable to see the fae.

    **SPOILERS**

MY favorite scene in the book I think is when Aislinn returns to Seth after meeting with the Summer King, and she is unsure of what happened to her while with him. I believe this shows Seth’s true character in the way in which he reacts to the idea of Aislinn and Keenan being “together”. He doesn’t blame her for something out of her control, and some guys might have. He is confident in his love for her and that is all that matters.

I think Melissa has created 2 very strong characters and yes, I do feel that the teen characters are portrayed realistically. Although they are very mature, I think this is due to their own circumstances that has led them to independence. Neither Seth nor Aislinn really have any parents and this forced them to grow up a little faster.

    Voted in the poll.

    Will and shall

Well dunno about being realistic, some things they do or feel, does not feel right. But I still liked how she created it all cos they are not meant to be normal either. There is something more. I liked the darkness, now that felt real

I loved Wickedly Lovely and all of the books in this series. I cannot wait for the fourth book.

  17. Comment by Jennifer Morrell — November 13, 2009 @ 4:29 pm

    Hi Everyone,
I am a literature teacher, and since teachers do not get paid well, I also work part time in a bookstore. I love to read the young adult stuff and there are so many good one. I have been looking at this series for a while and I want to read it. Many customers come in and request it.
Fairies have two different sides to them in different books. Some are cute and nice and some are hideous and mean. I would only want to see the nice ones!
I am not sure if the teenagers are portrayed well here, but in most young adult fiction, the writers do a great job.
Please just keep writing, I see more and more kids reading and all I can say is that is a great thing!
    Jennifer

  18. Comment by Carol M. — November 13, 2009 @ 4:36 pm

Lots of great commments, folks! I am going to answer my own questions. :)

My favorite scene in the book, and the one that hooked me from the very beginning, was the one where Aislinn and Seth are in the bar, and the reader gets the description of the faeries in her hair, over her shoulder, etc., and she cannot act as though she knows they are there. That scene just blew me away.

I agree with Tina that it would be scarier to know the faeries are there but not be able to see them.

I work with teens, and I find their depiction in the book to be realistic. Tina also said that she appreciated that the book did not deal too much with teen drama — I love that comment!

And Linda AK — I agree, the darkness does feel real, and ratchets up several levels in book two.

I think it would be way scarier to know they exist but not see them. At least if you can see them you have an idea of what’s going on around you. I really enjoyed this book though I still haven’t read the rest of the series.

This was a great series that I absolutely loved. HarperTeen.com offered the first book in the series free on line when promoting the third book in the series. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately purchased it(even though I had just read it free) and the next two in the series. This was the first series that I had read that was about faeries and they were scary as hell. I found them much scarier than all of the vampire and werewolf books that I had previously read. I found it very scary that the mortals could not see the faeries. I thought the series depicted the emotions and the actions of the teens very well, but I don’t think this is a series for young teens. There were a lot of mature situations that were a bit scarier than a 13 or 14 year old would be comfortable with.

I like these books about the dark and light fae. It is so interesting and there are hardly any other faerie books out there. Other than Holly Black’s series. I mean there might be a few other books here and there but I can’t think of many. I really like this series though. I do love Seth and not so much Keenan. Really hope Ash goes with Seth again. Won’t say too much because it gets spoilerish.

-Teen characters.. Hmm.. on one point, I like when they are portrayed realisticly, because sometimes writers cannot get the innder thoughts quite right.. On the other hand, when writing in certain genres [fantasy, paranormal, etc.], I almost prefer the characters to be a little different from the norm.

    — I think it be scarier to not be able to see them. I’d rather be able to what they were doing.

What is your favorite scene from the book, and how does it impact the rest of the story?
    — I think (as much as I am not a fan of Keenan) the scene where Ash kisses Keenan’s cheeks after they run into Beira is my favorite.
