Have not read any of these yet but would love tell everyone that Richelle Mead is a great author after having read other works of hers in the “Vampire Academy” and the “Dark Swan” series. I particularly like the Books in the Dark Swan series about Eugenie Markham.
The Georgina Kincaid Series in the order they should be read:
    Succubus Blues
    Succubus on Top
    Succubus Dreams
    Succubus Heat
    Succubus Shadows

I have the Succubus list of books in the series so far on my wishlist to buy and someday when it is complete will get them all, unless maybe can win them at BBB.

    # 2 RSVP’ed and will attend, #5 comment #26, and #6 posted link at:http://jacaburintexas.blogspot.com/

I haven’t yet read this series honestly. I’ve read her Vampire Academy series and the Dark Swan series and I loved those, I just couldn’t decide if I wanted to read this. I know a little about the mythology that succubus are creatures–women–who use sex to feed or something like that. Can’t remember all those finer details. I just couldn’t get around to starting the series. Is it worth it?

  3. Comment by Rebecca M. — November 11, 2009 @ 8:18 am

I loved these books and devoured them in about 3 days. I am sympathetic to Georgina because in my opinion she a very selfless character. She tries her best to help people and alot of time she gets the shaft. Sure she has to suck the essence from people but a girls got to survive right? One of my favorite characters is of course Carter and I’m really hoping Ms. Read will go in more depth about his character in her futuer books. And I do love her circle of friends because they care about Georgina and try to be there for her. They are all quite funny as well. Not sure what’s gonna happen with Seth but I’m hoping for a positive outcome (fingers crossed).
I’m really looking forward to the next one in the series but I’m sure I’ll devour that one in a day and waiting another year will be painful (lol).

Thank you for a great daily chat. I hope the readers will add these to their TBR pile because it really is a great series.

I also wanted to add that I love the fact that Carter takes the image of John Cusack is this series. Every time I envision Carter as looking like him it always makes me smile.

  5. Comment by Elie N — November 11, 2009 @ 9:04 am

I have been collecting these so I could read them together.

For those of you who have read them…Are they as good as her YA novels. Would you call them steamy?

2-5 will be done (interview is not up yet)
    I tweeted http://twitter.com/EllzReadz/status/5619149092

  6. Comment by Rebecca M. — November 11, 2009 @ 9:12 am

Elie N to me they are quite different (but great) than her YA novels and they do have some steamy scenes because she is a succubi.

  7. Comment by Christine M. — November 11, 2009 @ 9:39 am

I love Carter! And I really enjoyed the first book in this series. Books 2-3-4 are patiently sitting in my TBR pile.

Well, I haven’t read any of the books, but I just picked up Succubus Blues on Monday. I’m really looking forward to digging into it. So, for those that follow the series, which book is your favorite?

Ahhh I LOVE this series! I was engrossed in it earlier this year. I normally read Vamp-fare - so a series about a succubus was new to me. I immediately fell in to Georgina’s world! You know how sad you feel when a series you love ends? (or you read the last book available)? That is how I felt when I read Succubus Heat. I can’t wait til the next book! :) I wish the next book came out today actually!

Jessica- yes! It is. :) I was wary of a succubus series before I read this, i’ll be honest. Once I started the series, though - I forgot about that & became engrossed in their world. I love the fact Georgina lives amongst humans & other paranormal creatures. (her friends are vamps, there are various other demons in Srattle, etc) For me, Georgina’s personality jumps off the page. I love how each character has their own quirk or fault.

Also love Carter too! & love that he’s in the image of John Cusack! :)

RSVP’d to all and already voted! Will post Twitter/FB/etc links!

I love Mead’s writing. I’ve read all her books that are currently out. As for the Georgina Kincaid series … I like Georgina but I really really like her friends. The secondary characters are just has like able, if not more … LOL.

    ******Spoiler********

I know my question won’t get answered, but here goes … Will Georgina ever get over Seth?

I’ve voted in this weeks poll.

  13. Comment by Fallon Hadley — November 11, 2009 @ 11:09 am

I just finished Succubus Blues. I have devoured Richelle’s books. I have to admit, I started this one a little slow but once I got into the first 50 pages, I couldn’t put it down.
I’m not sure why it took a bit. Now, I have to get the rest of the series.

I want Georgina with Seth, eventhough I want to pop him on the back of the head and make him speak faster. LOL But that is just me.

    2,3,4,5,6 done.

    Thanks,
    Fallon H.

OK, I have yet to read any of Ms Mead’s books *ducks head as shoe zings by* but I am looking forward to reading the Vampire Academy series and the Georgia Kincaid books. Can I read the books out of order and still enjoy them or do I need to go in order. Because the truth is I tend to read series out of order!

    1. I’m sorry to admit that I haven’t read this series yet either. I absolutely love Richelle Mead! Her VA series and Dark Swan series are two of my absolute favorite, just for some strange reason I haven’t gotten around to reading this one yet. I keep meaning to, but then I completely forget about it again until someone on here mentions it.Oh yeah, I knew there was a series that I had wanted for Christmas a few months ago, this was it..now I have to chose between a few…darn it!

I love this book! I haven’t gotten to read the whole series yet because I am having trouble getting my hands on a copy of Succubus on Top. I found Georgina to be a very sympathetic character. I think her friends really make the book interesting. I am hoping as I get further into the series there will be even more focus on them.

Succubus Blues was the first of Richelle’s books that I read, and I loved it, and I do think she successfully creates a sympathetic character in Georgina. It all goes back to the roots of the character. The very fact that she became what she is because of guilt and remorse over something she had done to somebody else and wanted to rectify that, even at the cost of her own soul. I don’t think at the time she had foreseen all the ramifications of what she was about to do, but she committed the sacrifice out of guilt, and, more importantly, love.

If you haven’t read them, I would highly recommend them (and this is coming from a guy who initially had reservations about the book because he thought it was a “chic” book. If this is a chic book, give me more.).

    I LOVE Richelle Mead.
I started with Vampire Academy and moved on to Succubus then The Dark Swan Series.
Richelle Mead is brillant. love her.
Georgina is just whiney enough without me needing to say “Ohmygooood shut up already we understand your life sucks boo hoo”. She’s got enough spice to balance the whining. =]

Georgina’s band of followers are my favourite. haha. I love how it’s an easy flow with everyone. it’s like. a big party of otherworldly creatures.

These books are just enough guilty pleasure without overdoing it. It’s funny and gets your attention right away [also causing you to forget to do your English homework =P].

    ***SPOILER***

    sort of. haha.
the only thing i disliked about the series is how Georgina and Seth break up. OMG. i threw my book. it was awful.
and then questions like this go through my head.
Are they ever going to get back together???
Is she going to go for her Incubus friend [whose name escapes me...]???
When will this bitchy attitude go away???
Are Seth and Maddie ACTUALLY going to get married???????? [yeah.. 3 ?'s didnt do it. lol.]
    Uhm. ROMAN? really? REALLY???

    =]
*sigh* And now we have to wait for the next books to come out. Uhm. Early Copies Richelle? =P

    1. I love Richelle Mead’s Succubus series. I think Richelle did manage to create a sympathetic character in Georgina, when reading this series you can’t help by feel bad for her and what shes going through, when technically we shouldn’t when she’s working for the bad guys. I love Georgina’s immortal friends, especially Carter :)

I LOVE all of Richelle´s books! If she writes a cake recipe I won´t be able to stop reading it!

As for Georgina, I think she´s my favorite character ever. She suffers so much and she´s so conflicted and she´s still sweet and funny and hopeful..

She´s strong, but in a different way than Rose and Eugenie who are much more aggressive.

And the funny thing is, if we describe a Succubus we´re supposed to feel disgusted and consider one a villain, but Richelle´s managed to make Georgina one of the greatest heroines ever!

The Succubus Series are fun and full of action with great supernatural characters, but there is so much humanity in it that we can relate to Georgina and feel sorry for her and cheer for her.

Richelle is a great author and she deserves all the success in the world. I hope she keeps writing forever.

    (sorry for my bad English)

    Débora

OK I must say… love the series… Love Georgina, kinda still like Seth, absofrickenlutely hate Maddie (wish she would die a slow and torturous death from a demon attack), love Carter (who wouldn’t LOL) and the rest of the gang are great too….

Georgina just needs to take back what has been taken from her and to heck with what anyone else wants or needs….

  30. Comment by Georgia Green — November 11, 2009 @ 2:44 pm

Okay, I’ve read VA & Dark Swan series, but this is my FAVORITE series by Richelle Mead. I think I was the only one to show up at her reading for Blood Promise with a Georgina book for her to sign. I also may have been the only one not in HS, but that’s another matter entirely. I think she does a great job of creating sympathy for Georgina, even though you want to hate her for always looking so perfect.

Oh, and I totally agree with Shell the Hockeyvampiress - HATE MADDIE. She so needs to wake up and smell the coffee & get out of La La land. Would have to say that my favorite character is Carter - he’s the best! Although, I’m so happy to see that Roman is back… Can’t wait for Succubus Shadows!

I’m a huge Richelle Mead fan, this series is one of my favorites. I think she does a great job with Georgina, she’s very sympathetic, I don’t want to say too much and give away spoilers. Btw, all of the books in this series are good. These remind me of Keri Arthur’s Riley Jensen Series, I’d say if you like those, you’ll probably like these.

  36. Comment by Claire M — November 11, 2009 @ 3:52 pm

I started with Richelle’s Vampire Academy series (which is amazing and one of two join favourite series’ ever) and then decided to try this first Succubus book (and then went on to the Dark Swan series, which is also fantastic). I wasn’t too sure about starting this book because it is about a succubus and I don’t like when smex rules the plot. But I was very pleasantly surprised. For a series about a succubus, there isn’t a massive amount of graphic smex, and what there is, isn’t just randomly thrown in. There is some kind of point to it.

Georgina is very different to Rose in the Vampire Academy series because she’s a thinker. She doesn’t tend to get in to physical fights, it’s not how she works. But she’s still a great, engaging character. And like has already been mentioned, she’s generally very selfless and sympathetic character. I may be in the minority here, but I’m not a fan of Seth. He’s okay, but a bit weak in my opinion, and talking about later books (not giving anything away) I love Maddie, but feel incredably sorry for her. Carter may well be my favourite character though…lol and Roman’s pretty great too!

Out of the three of Richelle’s series, VA is my favourite, followed by Dark Swan and then this. But that doesn’t stop me highly recommending this series to all my friends!

Ahh Georgina. I remember reading the first book and cracking up. I loved her and Seth instantly. I feel bad for Georgina and her past, and that she can’t touch her love without sucking his life away. Plus, her band of friends is hilarious and can’t wait to learn more about the angel.
    ****SPOILER****
And I feel even more depressed after the last book. Poor Seth, poor her, I wish they could be together but that seems distant now. I guess she has more chance with the half-breed. T.T

    ****SPOILER****
Ah yes Roman, yeah…he is okay, but Seth is human, and Georgina has few supernatural powers, and I think he is weak because of that.
Plus there was the dream Georgina had with her child. What if its Carter? Because the background song…wasn’t it his favorite or something? When I read that, I thought that now the chances with her being with Seth were slimmer. I don’t hate Maddie, but I don’t like her either. So clueless and innocent.

Jessica and Carol you are absolutely right. I was getting Jerome and Carter mixed up. Carter seems to dress homeless if I recall correctly? One of my favorite parts (and I can’t remember which book, Succubus Heat I think) is when Georgina is sitting in Jerome’s house and checking out his movie collection and he’s got all of John Cusacks movies.

This was my intro to Richelle Mead. Georgina is a highly excellent character and I adore her gang, good and bad. I love that her boss has taken on the persona of John Cusack, one of my ‘boyfriends’.
I have two more in the series to read on the nightstand.

I voted my three best sidekicks authors.

    Richelle-
    I LOVE your books!!!

    ******SPOLIER*******

I cried SO hard when you killed Dimitri in Shadow Kiss! It was a great book, but it made me an emotional wreck during some parts, the rescue mission being one of them. But, I must say, (and I’m only half way through Blood Promise at the moment) I am so falling for Adrian. He might seem a little odd sometimes, he seems so good and heatfelt I just want to kick Rose in the ass and tell her to run back to him.

For anyone who has not read this series yet you are missing out. Richelle put alot in these series Lust Heartache Sex Action Drama and much more. This series is intense I sat down and read all the books out so far in a few days I just couldnt put it down. How Georgina could only read 5 pages a day and put it away til the next day I will never know because I simply cant do it.

Succubus Blues is one of my favorite books. In fact it is on my list of books I would take if I was stranded on a island! The first two books of this series are awesome, the next two but me thru an emotional rollercoaster. I love Georgina, I hope she gets a happy ending.

I also LOVE Jerome and Carter. Having a demon and an angel be best friends is so clever. Especially having that angel drink and smoke, so funny!

    ***SPOLIER ALERT***

I liked that Georgina and Seth were able to get rid of their sexual tension. I am totally over Seth though, he just keeps pissing me off. First with what he did to Georgie but then how he is with Maddie. Its obvious that Seth and Georgie love each other, but I just don’t see how it will work. Unless Seth makes a deal? I hope the next book is a little more upbeat, I don’t want to read another depressing story. Poor Georgie.

Kayla - eek! I’m sorry it happened to you also! I freaked out when I saw it didn’t leave spaces. lol. I’m glad I added that line right after saying, “if you haven’t read the books - stop reading now” lol. I don’t want to give away spoilers!

I haven’t read the VA books - but I’ve read the Succubus series. I plan on reading the VA books & Storm Born/Thorn Queen ASAP!

Lisa B., I think anyone who has read any of Richelle’s work would recommend them, based upon the writing, the characters, and the worlds she creates. Enjoy!
