In the sequel to Dragon Actually, Briec the Mighty (or Arrogant, depending on who you talking to) decides he’s going to have the Nolwenn witch Talaith no matter what. He even saves her from being burned at the stake to do so. How does she show her thanks? Well, it’s not by letting him have his way with her, that’s for sure.

Talaith isn’t like most women Briec’s courted. For one, she has a brain, and for two, she sticks around for more than a night of pleasure. Of course, she doesn’t have much of a choice. Since Briec saved her from the angry villagers, she is considered his property under dragon law, and he plans on keeping her until she gives him what he wants.

“Accident!” has become my favorite excuse since reading About A Dragon by G. A. Aiken. I don’t know where the author gets her sense of humor, but I am green with envy. Her characters are so lively, unique, and hilarious that I spent most of the book snorting in laughter with tears streaming down my eyes.

The stakes were higher in this book, as well. Deities—both dragon and human—played a larger role, manipulating the players on and off the stage. Even Annwyl and Fearghus were affected by their machinations.

Where Dragon Actually was a lighter but completely entertaining read, About A Dragon has depth that I didn’t expect from the summary on the back. The romance between Briec and Talaith wiggled its way into my heart. Briec is an arrogant, self-serving dragon, but you could tell he really loved that woman.
