Darcy MacAlister has spent her life trying to repress a part of her because of the punishment from her adoptive father. When she is kidnapped by Axel Locke, she has to find out how to use her witch powers fairly quickly in order to save his little sister’s life from a curse. Even though witch hunters and earth witches cannot seem to exist in the same room together due to another curse, Axel will fight the temptation in order to save his sister. What he does not count on is falling for Darcy.

I have to confess, when I first started this book, I was not sure if I would like the story or not. But as I got deeper into the story, the more spellbound I became by the story and had to know had it ended. Darcy’s ignorance of her status as a witch was surprising, but considering her childhood and her adopted father’s reaction, I guess I should not have been that surprise. The chemistry between Darcy and Axel was amazing, and I could not get enough of it. Add to that the element of Axel’s sister being cursed and I was heartbroken every time she made an appearance in the story, hoping that Darcy would find the strength she needed to find her inner witch and save Axel’s sister. The concept behind the story was intriguing and I look forward to reading Soul Magic, the next book in the series. Jennifer Lyon writes an alluring tale, designed to draw the reader in and makes it hard to withdraw from the storyline even after the last word in the book.
