Elizabeth Phoenix became the leader of the light by default. But she’s done things that she has not been proud of because of her position. She has had to sacrifice relationships and who she is, all for the sake of saving the world. She travels all over the world fighting Nephilim and trying to find out how to stop the evil from spreading. She is facing the upcoming Apocalypse and must do all she can to stop it. However, quite a few surprises lay in store for her, and she must battle demons from her past in order to defeat the forces of evil.

Apocalypse Happens is the third book in the Phoenix Chronicles. Each book in this series just gets better and better. All I can say is “WOW”. Lori Handeland writes a compelling story of the battle between good and evil. Liz Phoenix is the main character and, as the series progresses, she becomes more compelling with each turn of the page. It is fascinating to watch her character develop with each new book. I have had trouble throughout the series trying to decide whether I root more for Jimmy Sanducci or for Sawyer as her love interest and wonder at times if there could not be a way that she could have both men but I know it cannot be possible. The two men are total opposites and cannot stand each other, but they both have their good points, so it is very hard to choose between them.

Apocalypse Happens has some unexpected and unique twists and turns and it most definitely has some surprises that took me completely off guard. But I love this series and cannot wait for the release of the next book Chaos Bites! I will be anxiously awaiting the outcome of Liz’s trials and temptations. If you have not read this series yet, it must be read in order as each book builds upon events in the previous book. Also, if you have not read this series, what are you waiting for? Go out to your local bookseller today and pick up all three books. It is a must add to your urban fantasy collection.
