Oh and for extra credit, lets make this the party post with the MOST comments ever. Do you think Mark Henry can beat out Angie Fox who holds the current record 1228 comments in one day?

What do you think people? Can you make Mark’s fingers bleed? Several other packs of Swag from BBB are up for grabs if you go past the record!

    * Chuckles * Kudos to Mark. You just gotta love his vlogs because they are so darn amusing! But, I have to agree with him on the movie Heathers. Oh man it’s been ages since I seen that movie.

Hey Mark! Where’s my illegal foot rub!! By the Way, the Bonecrusher book you sent me, the hubs took it. Though he didn’t care too much for it, only to let someone he works with borrow it!

Rach, dunno if Mark can beat Angie. I know he’d give it one hell of a try. But I’m game to help get past the 1200 mark! Even though I should be writing but I’m being a massive procrastinator

Hmm. Over 1200 comments. Sounds padded to me, Rach.

Medievalgrrl - Thank you. Come on back!!!

    TM, keep checking back…I deteriorate.

Cyd J - I loved Zombieland, enough to crush a child’s dreams of poster ownership. My favorite part was the death of the secret celebrity cameo.

    Hi Mark!

I’m really looking forward to reading more of your books :)
I found the first book to be really fun to read.
We probably first met up on the Yahoo Paranormal Mystery Writers group.
(I’m the not quite lurking reader-only-type member.)
I find the greatest reading ideas over there!
So, now that I’ve inadvertently plugged that group …
(Hopefully Karen won’t mind too much.)
    … thanks for writing!
The release of the book is great timing!

Uhm … I can’t think of any questions.

    Greetings and salutations

Heathers rocks — one of my all time favorites too! (might have been because I was sooo in love with Christiane Slater at the time, though. LOL)
My laughing at your little bathroom scene, complete with lighter fluid and fire, caused both my kids to come running to see what I was watching. Yes, they’re very nosy - can’t have fun without ‘em either, they feel left out otherwise.

For more giggling pleasure, one of my fav scenes from movie:
J.D.: Well, ah… Let’s take a look at some of the homosexual artifacts I dug up to plant at the scene.
[He picks up a shopping bag and pulls items out of it]
J.D.: All right. Got an issue of “Stud Puppy.”
    Veronica Sawyer: Great!
    [She laughs]
J.D.: Candy dish. Joan Crawford postcard. Let’s see, some mascara. All right. And here’s the one perfecto thing I picked up. Mineral water.
Veronica Sawyer: Oh, come on, a lot of people drink mineral water, it’s come a long way.
J.D.: Yeah, but this is Ohio. I mean, if you don’t have a brewski in your hand you might as well be wearing a dress.
Veronica Sawyer: Oh, you’re so smart.

I won’t enter the comp — feel WAYYY lucky to have won the last BBB Mark Henry comp and get excited when I think an ARC of Battle Of The Network Zombies will soon be on its way to me! But it’s not like I could watch the vlogs then do a runner. I had to say SOMETHING! It’s because I’ve got a big gob, really.

    Hi Mark
I loved you web page and you seem like my kind of twisted guy. Now don’t take that wrong this isn’t a come on or anything, but it’s nice to find someone you could blend in with and noone would say she’s odd, strange, etc. I haven’t read you books yet as I’m new to all this but I will as soon as I can get them. I have to wait until tonight as my job is blocking you sight, damn, yes I’m crazy or at least that’s what one of the guys I work with calls me “Crazy Woman”, one of my son’s calls me the “Crazy Lady” no idea why. …LOL… could be my skull collection (not real ones). Question what made you pick zombies over any thing else? Like vampires, werewolves, ghouls, ghosts, etc…

Are zombies allowed to have favorite boozy drinks?

Raonaid - I’ll appreciate all the help you can give!!! *rubs Raonaid’s feet (like a whore)*

Lisa - I’m not gonna lie, all the books are gruesome, but they aren’t scary. You just have to take one big leap and side with the zombies. They’re just us anyway…only deader and funnier.

    Hi Mark
I saw your Zombie movies list to watch. Night of the Living Dead came out when I was in high school so you would have been in grade school (I think) anyway that movie is funny to watch now but back then it was gross. At least the guys in my town thought it was. I thought it was funny that the guys were getting up and walking out because they were sick while I was glued to my seat. Yes, we’ve already established I’m crazy, sick or twisted.

Question? Do you think you’ll ever get any of your books make into movies?

You had good luck writing and getting your books published within 6 months, so there’s hope for a movie, right????

Belinda - You sound insane. I love it!!! It was always going to be about zombies, they’re my favorite movie monster. Only ones I could identify with as being scary. Werewolves are scary in their violence but they don’t speak to modern horror like plagues and viruses and stuff.

Amy T - I’m loving a Manchu Mule (Grey Goose vodka and green tea ginger ale). If you’ve read the books, you know Amanda fuels up on straight liquor and often.

Thanks for coming to BBB today Mark!

Still watching part two but had a couple of comments. First of all…the Cat Who books….did Lillian die? The last book I read seemed as though someone else wrote it while trying to sound like Lillian. Your thoughts?

Snark..I think you’ve either got it or you don’t. You can learn to overcome manners but if it’s not there you’re SOL. (Would love to get my grubby little hands on the Snark Handbook too! LOL And they aren’t really all that grubby. Stubby maybe, but not grubby)

Wine…hmmm…I’m not a big one for wine but you should try (if you haven’t already and can get it out there) Oliver. It’s made in Indiana and isn’t that bad (like I said..I’m not big on wine so “not that bad” is a good thing). Another good sweet wine is Bricco Riella Moscato D’Asti. Verrrrry good.

That’s all I’ve got for now. I have to go get more candy for tonight so I’ll be checking back later.

Thanks again for playing with us here at BBB!

Hey Mark, I’ve been a lurking fan of yours on FaceBook and Twitter and have recently started responding to your tweets. So, hi and all that from snowy Colorado where, due to intense cabin fever (coupled with not one but two viral infections from two otherwise sweet nieces) I have picked up and started reading your books from the TBR pile. You are snarkilicious! I love your twisted view of the world as it was shaped by your prior work experience (yes, I’ve had those jobs too and I’m living proof of the long-term effects although my focus is human services with the occasional ad hoc therapy session thrown in for good measure). So, question of the day: where do you actually do your writing? Are you a wandering coffee shop writer mooching off free refills and WiFi or do you actually get writing done at home?

  46. Comment by Mark Henry — October 30, 2009 @ 1:30 pm

Hey Misty! I gotta say you start at the beginning and get Happy Hour of the Damned. Just so you know, Amanda, the protagonist, IS a zombie, though she’s rotting rather slowly. Also! I like to say I’m pro-villainess rather than anti-heroine. So expect her to be brutal!

TM - Bakon is on the menu at Richelle’s party tonight. I won’t be denied!!!

Hey rpattzlawyer - what you up to?

To answer Michael and Belinda’s question, sadly we got a no go response from Showtime on the Amanda Feral series. They’d optioned it for a couple of years, hired a screenwriter and got all the way to a table reading before nixing it. Sad.

Synde - Argento is better at building suspense and driving viewers insane, Fulci is more of an atmosphere crazy visuals guy. I’m going Argento.

Fallon - I think it’s because they frighten us, show us what we’ll look like after we’re buried. That they’re risen is clearly an expression of hope for an afterlife. (that goes for vamps, too)

It’s nice that you’re in Seattle. If you do a signing/appearance at Powell’s in Portland, it should be a riot. (I’m in Oregon.) I like your jello shooters–what flavor are they? Yum. I have not drunk a Vampire Wine yet, but I like your honest reviews (I have a bottle for the bottle). I hate most Syrahs for their bitterness. Nothing like chalky bitter oak barrel. Thank you for the snarkiness. Many of us nightowls make a run for the border. They probably keep Taco Bell open for us, just in case we have to go to a protein-free buffet and need a crunchwrap. Dude, not even any cheese? I’m out. :) I like the idea of the Snark handbook. My fiance is an aspiring novel writer, whereas I only do naughty short stories for amusement (though I suppose I could put them all together and have an anthology). Yeah, I would not be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 10 a.m. on a Saturday. We vampires would rather be here at BBB and all up late at night reading too many books instead of waking up at the butt-crack of dawn. I think we made the right choice. :) (I love your post-its.) With the snarkiness, I think you and Stephen Lynch would get along. He pokes fun at the horribleness in the world, too. If we didn’t have a sense of humor, I think we’d all just drop dead.

    Keep vlogging and thanks!

Heya Mark… I lost track but I may be the first to comment on the evolution of Urban Fantasy.

I think it actually started back with Mary Shelley… I know that’s when the stories for Frankenstein and Dracula, etc. But if you think about it, they were set in the current time of the writer so to me, that fits the definition of Urban Fantasy. They were magical stories told during their current times. Though now people would probably just call them Steampunk. Well, at least Frankenstein.

I think that the label ‘Urban Fantasy’ just didn’t come around until the 90’s.

I <3 the Heathers. So wonderfully disturbed.

Rebecca M. - I loved the first two Evil Dead flicks, how Raimi recreated the story, all of it. Army of Darkness, a little less so. What do you mean about half-blooded snarkers?

Missy - Where have you been, kitten?

Mindy - I’m tellin’ ya. I haven’t read it yet, but it looks awesome.

Rao - It’s actually the song incubus/succubus II by Xmal Deutschland. 80s goth. Keeping it alive! Like your writing, keep it up. Fantasy romance sounds fun. Is there an EROTIC element, cuz…

Synde!!! This is what you were talking about on twitter. I had to close out of twitter just to catch up. You don’t envision Eldritch on Hello Kitty’s back jousting with McCoy on a unicorn with their lollipop sticks?

  137. Comment by Raonaid Luckwell — October 30, 2009 @ 3:05 pm

Huh, then I may have to go search that out. I love the gothic sounds, but there is a goth band (from the UK) called Inkubus Sukkubus. They perform songs with vampires and pagan influences.

Sadly, no erotic elements. I’ve been kinda shying away from love scenes because like fighting (with swords and such) I am very very weak. I’d write an embarrassing lame scene on that. Just keeping that for last to strengthen myself.

But thanks! I’m a slow writer too. This WIP I have been hashing out on for over six to seven years. It’s undergone several revamps and rewrites.

Missy - It’s just called The Snark Handbook, it’s in the humor section. And those funky pubes on my chin are actual pubes. I’ve gotten myself involved in a new sexual activity called “chinning”. It’s not for everyone, so…

Ha, and back in time for #3. :) Yes, I took notes on the vlog so I’d remember what to write. Sleep deprivation doesn’t make for a lasting memory. :) And I like notes. Where were the snarky post-its? :) I like rodent stories, too. In the movies (say, Muppets), they are usually sarcastic and feisty, which is more fun, obviously. Hmmm…2 things that don’t go together…Backstreet Boys and Rob Zombie. Hello Kitty and Goth (though Hot Topic seems to have worked that out and combined at least 2 of my selves). I’m sure there are other things, but my tastes tend to combine things that don’t seem to go together. Like vampiric tendencies and sleep or coherency and sleep deprivation. :)

‘kay, I’d be happy with any of those; especially the book of snark. My family trained me in snark, beginning from a young age. My Mom was an ER nurse, guess what our supper conversations were like!

I’m sorry that I haven’t read through the comments, but my bus comes in 15 minutes (after watching the vlog, which already made me miss one) so it’s either head home or read comments. You can guess which one I’m choosing.

Have you ever seen a zombie movie that you honestly just did not like? I don’t mean some bad B-movie thing, cause at least that’s mockable, I mean something that made you go ‘enh’.

I RSVP’s by the way. I tweeted (& follow Mark & Rachel on Twitter). And I posted it on Facebook (where I’ve been friends w/ Mark for ages, not that he’ll admit it, I’m sure).

I’m an aspiring fiction writer at 49 after years of doing nonfiction to pay the bills. Snarkiness does not come across well in nonfiction articles that are suppose to be helpful. I need an outlet.

I’m thinking you are the King of Snark, or perhaps the Reigning Snark Champion, or even the Lord of All Things Snarky.

Back from the hell that is Walmart and am late coming into the “two things that do not go together”.

    Hmmm….

For starters….a combo of Bipolar/ADHD and adolescence. NOT good together. At. All.

According to my sister….prunes and 7 month old babies.

I also have to agree based on numerous phone calls, texts and emails on the subject….Rachel and KY (the state not the jelly). Makes for riotous laughter on my part but not so entertaining on her part. (Btw Rach….hubs will be in KY (state not the jelly) next month sometime. If he’s near, can I sic him on you? or vice versa)

Doorbells on trick or treat nights and dogs. They go batshit crazy.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Looking forward to more vloging!

I think if I end up a zombie, I’m going to adopt the Wendy solution: eat it all, enjoy it going down, and employ “trained forgettery” of the after effects. It’s kind of what I do now anyway only it’s the 3-bite rule combined with the “be in the moment” to make sure that my entire awareness is focused on what I’m doing with as few extraneous thoughts as possible.

Teresa I’ve never been a fan of sweet or bread and butter pickles. When I worked at Mikey D’s in my younger days, they had sweet pickles for one of the sandwhiches. Some idjit, with the manager’s permission goes “Hey try one of these pickles.” I took one, plopped it into my mouth and then dashed to the trash can because I did not enjoy the taste. I’m more of a dill pickle girl

Rao, I agree with loving the dill pickles. They are my definite go-to for pickles when adding them to savory food items. Somehow though I got hooked on adding the sweet ones to my peanut butter and the taste/texture combo works for me now. I admit that I like bread and butter pickles better than just sweet ones. So, peanut butter and dill pickles = fail.

Mark, what’s your opinion on pickles?

Hellloooo from Gritty Tacoma, the home of real zombies! I’m so enjoying your VLOGs, and totally grateful that you weren’t my child, attempting to set the bathroom on fire. Of course, my child did shoot off a rocket in his bedroom..no fire, just a busted window. Fortunately he survived it and now has children of his own..and I am coaching them on fun pranks to pull on Dad. (Yes, it’s proof that mothers do eventually get revenge.)

I’m both politically correct and have been accused of being snarky now and then..normally after a couple of Corona’s, so it may not count. I’m probably not very good at snark because I’ve so often gotten in trouble for it.

I’m an essay writer - aspiring to be able to write more than 700 words before I get boring. I am writing a book..in my head. It’s probably very good, but can’t seem to get it out of my head on paper (obviously I’m either really lazy, easily distracted or recognize that it is better in my head than on paper.)

Two things that don’t go together. I would have said Newt Gringrich and Craig Ferguson, but they both blew that theory last night. Ummmm, I was at a Rascal Flatts concert last night (the Cars song hooked me..yes, I have grandchildren and we’ve seen it 74 times..yes, I counted), and there were many, many women and particular items of clothing that did NOT go together. Uh, I guess you had to be there…

I don’t have any questions ’cause..well, I just don’t have questions. That doesn’t make me a know-it-all, it just makes me zoned out today.

I’ve avoid twittering since a young thang ’cause in my day (God, I love saying that), women who twittered also giggled and had big puffy hair that required a lot of laquer to hold up) and tweeting in public was considered rude (and usually as a result of eating chili).
