Breaking the Spell by Rachel Carrington
It is said that you cannot choose whom you love. This is certainly true with Braeden. He fell in love with Athena whose coven raised havoc against his family. And that love drives him to save her from his brother’s wrath, incidentally causing a rift between the two very close brothers.
Before long, they are alone, trapped in a different dimension. With Athena unwilling to give up black magic, Braeden cannot see a future with her, so being alone with her is not the most ideal situation for him since he cannot really resist her. However, it so happens that after they passed through the vortex, she lost all her powers, and he has to protect her again and again. Talking about karma.
Having lost all her power means depending on Braeden for everything - and Athena certainly hates being powerless. But whether she likes it or not, this experience changes her. The once ready-to-smite-when-someone-angers-her witch mellows down as his goodness rubs off on her. She also understands Braeden more and vice versa. Besides, there are forces out to get her out of the way, and he is the only one able to protect her.
Breaking the Spell is exciting and full of action. Braeden and Athena’s love story is also different from your usual romantic pairings. She is such a witch (the derogatory meaning) and needs not just an attitude adjustment but also a major overhaul. You just wonder why he fell in love with her. Maybe it is just lust, but he kept on protecting her. Plus, he did not give up on seeing the good potential in her. He is definitely one of the good men. Whoever says nice guys finish last is wrong.
