I enjoy both the books and TV show equally, but both for different reasons.
True Blood is a fun ‘in your face’ take on Charlaine’s books and, although they’ve taken a life of their own, they stay true to the characters I’ve grown to love from the books — yes, even Jason! (although I’ve heard a lot of people got sick of seeing his butt - not me!

I enjoy them both equally and knowing the show doesn’t exactly follow the books keeps me interested in the next season.

In True Blood - Pam, Lafayett & Eric; In the books - Pam, Eric, and Alcide was until the whole sealing-the-deal as packleader thing.
Which book is your favorite in the series?
I loved Club Dead, but Dead and Gone really broke my heart… great book!

I love True Bloood and The Sookie Stackhouse Series. It only took 1 episode for me to get hooked. It’s a little twisted, but that’s what makes it so facsinating to me. I just started reading the series and it’s kinda nice to put the faces with the character’s even if they actor’s.
I just adore Sookie, she’s so niave it’s like she’s always lived in her own little world and now she just goes with the flow no matter what you throw at her she can handle it.
I enjoyed all episodes, but enjoyed when Bill risked his life going into the sun and Sam changing to save Sookie, I’m not sure what name of episode was.
Episode 1 was good, but 2 was even better more paranormal, action and more twisted than 1.
Defeinitely waiting patiently for Episode 3, glad I now started reading the books to keep me occupied.

I loved them both but I have to say my favorite are the books.
Favorite character Eric of course. But in true blood it’s a tie between Eric and Lafayette.
Favorite book #4 Dead to the world.
Favorite Episode series 2 end of ep 1 and start of ep 2.
Favorite Season of True Blood if I really have to choose it would be the first season.

What do you think of the Southern Vampires Series versus True Blood?
-I enjoy both the books and the HBO show. I absolutely adore the books, and think that the show does a great job of incorporating new characters and plots within the magnificent template that Charlaine Harris has provided through the Southern Vampire Series.
Who’s your favorite Character?
-My favorite character in both the show and the books is Sookie.
Which book is your favorite in the series?
-My favorite book in the series is Dead And Gone. I found this to be the most moving book out of the series- and while many truly sad events took place, I am thankful for them and look forward to seeing what happens next in Bon Temps.
Which episode of True Blood do you like the most?
-My favorite episode of True Blood is the one where Godric meets the sun. I found the scene on the roof to be extremely moving.
Favorite season? 1 or 2?
-I would have to say season 2 was my favorite because I loved seeing the characters evolve and the actors grow into their roles.
Hopes for season 3?
-I hope season 3 gives us all the drama of the first two seasons.
I also hope to see Sookie work through her feelings for Bill, and I can’t wait to see who they cast as Alcide.

1. The books. I confess that I haven’t seen most of the series yet (I’m a starving writer–don’t have HBO) but a friend loaned me th DVD’s, so I hope to get to them soon. But I can tell from the one episode that I did see that it doesn’t seem to have the humor which I love in the books.

How can Sookie not be the favorite?
I have only seen the first few episodes of Season 1 True Blood (no HBO), and when I saw the first oe, I wasn’t sure what I thought. The approach is so visceral, but I can see why it has its appeal. I have enjoyed what I have watched so far.

What do you think of the Southern Vampires Series versus True Blood?
I love both but I actually like the books better b/c your able to get really complicated& intricate plotlines, and you get to know Sookie much better than you do on the show. I really like reading & relating to the inner workings of characters’ minds.
But I have to say that True Blood has given me something the books couldn’t: a sexy visual of Eric! I didn’t have a specific visual whilst reading but Alexander has definitely made a deep impression on me and my dreams, lol

Oh man! Missed the interview!! I was working on a paper for school and only got 1/2 way through. Dang it!
Anyway I’ll at least answer these questions:
1. I only watch True Blood when it comes out on DVD b/c I don’t have HBO, but I love the books because the mystery is always good and thrilling. Especially book 1!
2. I like Sookie, because in the books she is described as averagely intelligent, but still beautiful. A southern gal, so sort of normal in some aspects, except the psychic abilities. She’s pretty connect-able on all the other levels of a character though.
3. Favorite book in the series so far? Hmm…thinking of the books…Dead to the World. I loved seeing that different side to Eric.
4.I’ve only watched Season 1 on DVD once, and I haven’t seen season 2. So I don’t really have a fave episode. I did hear good things about season 2, so I’m anxiously waiting for that DVD.
5 and 6. Again I can’t really answer any of those since I’ve only seen season 1. That’s the downside of HBO, it’s too much to own and therefore I can’t see True Blood as they air. I have to wait for the DVD. I am wondering how close to book 2 season 2 will be. The people I talked to haven’t read the books too much.

The two almost feel as though they are two different beasts and have nothing to do with each other. That being said, if I had to choose I would choose the books for the character development and heart that is hinted at but hasn’t been fully delved into yet in the show.

I’d have to say I prefer the Southern Vampire Series. As in any book, there is more detail and so much more happens! While I truly enjoy TrueBlood, I find there is a lot I’d like to see in the tv series that just doesn’t make the cut. Of course, I am sure that is true of many a reader!
Who’s your favorite Character?
In TrueBlood - Lafayette because he is such a sensational character!
In the book series, I’d have to say Eric. His character is just so complex and I can never really decide if he is truly a devious vamp, or just a “lost soul” looking for salvation!.
Which book is your favorite in the series?
My favorite book is Living Dead in Dallas. While trying to fulfill her duties, Sookie makes a connection with the were society that, I think, helps to shed some light on who she truly is and were she may have come from.

My favorite episode is from Season 2 when Bill proposes.

Of course season 2. Not every series improves with the next season, but I think this one did, big time!

1. In my opinion, books are always better than the movies or TV shows.
However, I do really like Trueblood and the world Alan Ball has
created. He follows along pretty nicely in some instances but every
now and then he gives us a curveball.
2. Pam is by far my favorite character but Bubba rates up there pretty
high as well.
3. My favorite book in the series is All Together Dead. So many vamps
is one place was interesting.
4. My most favorite episode was this year when Godric met the sun.

5. I have to say season 2 was my favorite. We got to see way much more

-as a huge fan of the books, I am pleased with True Blood, yes, parts are different, but it makes watching the show so much more exciting. I think AB is brilliant. I was a fan from 6 feet under. The show is spicy and keeps me guessing. The books, well what’s there to say but, they’re great!

-Sookie, hands down. Although I like the Anna P better than the Sookie in my head from the books (actually she was replaced)

I like the 2nd season better. Surely there will be a 3rd season, will there, right! And a 4th, …is that in the works yet? Can only ask.
I really liked “Club Dead”: because it was the first bk.I’d read. I must add that I totally enjoyed what happened with Eric in #4 though also!
On tv.series, I think the actor that plays Bill IS THE BEST! In the books, Eric would win. Not on the tv series though.
Frankly, I luve Harry Potter, the books as well as the movie/series. That same phenomenon is happening FOR ME, anyway, for True Blood versus the books.
I like Sookie. As a teen, my “Irish-exchange” English teacher luv’d SciFi.
By the end of THAT year, all girls and boys from all her classes also liked scfi….the characters in those YA books were ppl with phenomenol capabilities sort of, often enough, like Sookie’s.
Episode in True Blood…I like the one where she/Sookie and Bill first cuddle. I do.

1.What do I think of the seires Versus the True blood show=I have not read the series yet I got seven of the books But was looking for the rest of them before I read them.the show I don’t have HBO so have not seen it but have been looking to see if it was on a DVD set have not found it yet is it on a Set of DVDs yet?

1. I really enjoyed the books! But seeing them on the TV is just amazing.
The actors play the character so well. Despite it being a fair bit different from the books, they’ve still captured the characters personality’s well and I just can’t choose which one I love more! (:
2. Season one I really loved how Nelsan Ellis played Lafayette.
Season 2 would have to be Eric. It’s great getting more of a back story on where he comes from!
3. Favorite book would HAVE to be ‘Dead to the World ‘ simply because I’m so Team Eric.

What do you think of the Southern Vampires Series versus True Blood?
I started the books when they first came out and had a long time to form a mental picture of all the characters. When the show first aired I was stuck on how some of the actors didn’t seem “right”, but they’ve all grown on me. I LOVE the show and it’s great having new books by Charlaine Harris AND Alan Ball’s True Blood!

What do you think of the Southern Vampires Series versus True Blood?
I like the books a lot but True Blood is pretty good.
Sookie is more reserved and witty in the books, it seems but that’s because we get to read her thoughts and Anna has to try to get te same thing across on True Blood with a look. I also don’t think Sookie would have cussed out the people at the bar when she was first with Bill like they showed on True Blood.
It’s downright weird that Tara is a major character, too. But at least they seem to be doing a good job with developing her.

True Blood: LaFayette. Hands down. “Who order the hamburger with AIDS?” That scene was priceless.

I love them all except Dead and Gone which felt flat to me. It’s a tie for Club Dead or Definitely Dead if i had to choose.

Probably the episode where everybody is hooking up by the end of hte episode. It was done in a thoughtful, romantic way even though, of course, there was a lot of booty.

What do you think of the Southern Vampires Series versus True Blood?
I love them both. I love the over-the-top characters in True Blood and all the graphic scenes. I love Sookie’s voice in the books.
Who’s your favorite Character?
I’m only on book 3, so Bill is still my favorite both in the books and on the television show.
Which book is your favorite in the series?
Club Dead…the last one I read
Which episode of True Blood do you like the most?
Season 1, Episode 6 (Cold Ground) when Sookie and Bill make love for the first time.

What do you think of the Southern Vampires Series versus True Blood?
I personally think the books are better than the True Blood series because you know the thoughts and feelings of Sookie and you get a different perspective through the books. I love True Blood though because it gives a face to all of our favorite characters.

1. I like the Southern Vampires Series tons more than True Blood. Source material always trumps adaptation in my books.
2. It’s a toss up between Sookie, Eric and Sam for my favourite character.
3. My favourite book in the series is either Dead Until Dark or Dead to the World.
4. In True Blood, I like the pilot episode the best.

Let me start off by saying the interview with charlaine was wonderful! I am so glad i was able to RSVP and attend.
1.What do you think of the Southren Vampire series verses True Blood?
I would have to say the books Hands down! Watching True Blood Verses reading the books you miss so much emotion. Allen Ball is great and i know you can fit only so much in 55 min. (I know that sounds selfish)But for those who have not or may not read the books because of the differences. Well it just saddens my heart. They will miss out on such a wonderful writer!
2.Who’s your favorite Character?
In True Blood Pam. She is awesome!
In the book I use to think Bill, but I decided Eric. Because even with his Mr. Bad butt put-on he really is just a lonely soul wanting to be loved.
3.Which book is your favorite in the Series?
All of them! Dead to the World and All Together Dead are among my favorites, but in Club Dead when sookie rescinds Bill and Eric’s invitation. That is just priceless. you can almost see the look on thier faces.
4.Which episode of True Blood do you like most?
Season 1 The end of episode 6 and beginning of episode 7? A girl could only be so lucky!

Season 1 Hands down it followed the book better. ( What can i say i love Charlaine’s work)

What do you think of the Southern Vampires Series versus True Blood? I like both of them. However, I do prefer the books a more. The True Blood episodes are also good because the other characters (such as Tara, Jessica and Hoyt) are good.
Who’s your favorite Character? ERIC!!! I can’t halp it, he’s such a bad boy.

Which episode of True Blood do you like the most? The episode where eric cried for his maker’s death. That episode was WOW!
Favorite season? 1 or 2? 1 every episode was exciting and left you wanting more. I think they really played out Maryann in season 2 especially toward the end.

What do you think of the Southern Vampires Series versus True Blood?
I’ve only read part of the first book and seen all of True Blood, but I like how both are interesting. Physically, at least so far, some characters are very different (Sookie, Sam…).
Who’s your favorite Character?
Lafayette, Pam and sometimes Eric (though he is very naughty).
Which book is your favorite in the series?
Can’t pick because I would need to read more, though the Eric one everyone’s mentioning sounds good.
Which episode of True Blood do you like the most?
I liked when Sookie and Bill finally got together, but the most moving was Godric leaving us. Beautifully done.
Favorite season? 1 or 2?
1: things seemed to move more quickly and kept you guessing. Maenad was gross and took way too long to resolve, even if it was interesting as a monkey wrench.
Hopes for season 3?
That Sam finds his parents, that there are more Eric dreams and that Lafayette returns to being more of his old self. I also like how Jessica was developing from first season’s “favor”.
True Blood is addictive, but I would like to read more books to see the difference.
