Rumor has it that Cody Warren, the bartender at Del Fantasma, has seen it all and is well known for his matchmaking skills. Shayne is in need of those skills and when he orders a slow screw he hopes to grab the man’s attention. He had wanted to make the man laugh and get him in the right frame of mind to help Shayne find the one night stand he is looking for, but as his comment falls to silence that plan seems doomed to a quick demise. Shayne has a passing interest in the paranormal and when he had heard of Del Fantasma and the stories that it’s owner/bartender was a vampire, he had felt he needed to come check the place out for himself or forever linger in doubt. Of course, after traveling halfway across the country to reach Point Loma, California, Shayne is pretty sure that the whole thing is a hoax, but he refuses to leave till he has had at least one fun filled night at the bar.

When Cody had first signaled him to casually make his way over, Leon wasn’t having any of it. As the vampire remains persistent in his demand, Leon reconsiders his options and eventually decides to go over, because truly, what other choice was there? He had asked Cody to find him a companion after all. One of the last of the family Felidaeia, Leon has been getting lonely and though he isn’t sure if he really deserves someone in his life, he is worried that one day he might wake up and not have the will to live. There are only two problems with the situation. One, the stranger that Cody is insistent is for him is a human. Two, that said stranger is a man. Leon is not gay and even though such relationships are not uncommon among the Panthera, he has never been with man and isn’t quite sure what to make of the new flavour Cody has supplied to meet his request. Though who knows, he might just come to like this new flavour in way he had never thought to experience.

Fans of M/M and BDSM will delight in the eroticism of this tale, while at the same time be moved by the hurt both of these men have felt in their past. This isn’t a happily ever after story, no, it’s more one of possibilities and an acceptance that they both need while at the same time sparking something that could develop into a happily ever after. The touch of Leon being a reluctant bi at first was intriguing and his back story with Le Cirque de Monstres was well done. I found the dilemma of the Panthera and the lengths they are going through to preserve their species interesting, though I would have liked to have seen more of a tie in since a lot of information was introduced but not all directly related to the story at hand. Other then that Sharon Marie Bidwell has done a good job adding her own unique twist to the Del Fantasma series and I hope she does another because I think I sensed the possibility of an interesting story in Carla’s daughter.
