In the second book in the Rowan of the Wood series, Cullen’s life has not gotten any better. He is still struggling with the fact that there is a 1400-year-old wizard trapped in his body and his home life is still miserable. He feels angry all the time and just wants to be a normal kid again. When Moody, Fiana’s former companion, reappears with an idea about how to separate Cullen and Rowan, Cullen is all for it. Rowan knows that he needs to leave Cullen’s body, and if crossing over to the Otherworld is the only way to do it, he will go. Luckily for Cullen’s favorite teacher, Max, things don’t go as smoothly as planned.

While Moody and Rowan have been trying to get Rowan out of Cullen’s body, Fiana has been setting her own plan into motion to trap Rowan and bring him over with her to the dark side. She has Max kidnapped, knowing that Rowan cares for her and will come to her rescue. It is up to Rowan, Cullen and Cullen’s friends Maddy and April to rescue Max and stop Fiana.

Christine and Ethan Rose are masters at creating fascinating characters that continually surprise you. In Witch on the Water, they reveal more of who Fiana was and the reader starts to understand how someone so good could make the choices that ultimately lead to her descent into evil. Fiana’s journey as well as the journey of the wand she is seeking are skillfully woven together with pieces of history resulting in a poignant and heartbreaking tale about sacrificing everything for true love.

Book Excerpt: “Witch on the Water chronicles the continuing adventures of twelve-year-old Cullen and his friends, Maddy and April. Cullen thought he had enough trouble surviving school, dealing with his miserable home life, and being possessed by Rowan, a 1400-year-old wizard. But when Rowan’s wife, the sadistic vampire Fiana, comes back seeking revenge, Cullen and his band of misfits must do what they can to stop her. This time Cullen’s favorite teacher is Fiana’s first target. Imaginative and poignant, the adventure of Rowan and Cullen thoroughly enchants the reader and is a great series for readers of fantasy, young and old.”
