A big welcome to our readers today! Be sure to read to the end of the interview to find out how to WIN the fabulous prizes being offered up.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a fixed time event, the post just goes live at 10:30 am CDT. You can stop by any time during the day or evening and leave your questions and chat.

PLEASE KEEP SPOILERS TO A MINIMUM. Not all of the readers today have read Lynsay’s books.

Interview:

Hi Lynsay!

Welcome to Bitten by Books, we are excited to have you here today!

I would like to thank you taking the time to join us for the question and answer session with our readers. It has been very interesting to get to know more about you and what makes you tick as a writer! Readers, if you haven’t done so already please stop by and get your copy of Lynsay’s newest book The Renegade Hunter.

BBB: What are the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of writing?

LS: The most rewarding aspect is being able to take people away from their troubles for a bit. I love getting emails from readers telling me that I helped bring their spirits up after a loss or helped them get through a tough time. I get a lot of those and cherish every one.

The most challenging part is continuing to write for myself rather than changing stories to try to please everyone else. It’s easy to fall into that trap, but the simple fact is, you can’t please everyone, and by trying to write for others the story really loses something . . . and also wouldn’t please those who have enjoyed them in the past. It’s something I struggle with a bit and usually when I find a story faltering it’s because I’m paying too much attention to other people’s comments and not my own instincts.

BBB: Do you consider your Argeneau Vampire series paranormal romance or urban fantasy? And do you think it is important to distinguish between the two?

LS: Difficult question. I don’t believe my stories are paranormal but more Sci Fi . My immortals have nanos in their bloodstream, which is possible, just not presently. So we’re not talking about Bram Stoker vampires that are the living, cursed undead, but a scientifically plausible explanation for my immortals.

As for urban fantasy, when I looked up the definition it said the focus is the environment the couple is in, whereas with the Argeneau/Rogue Hunter series, the focus is on the characters. My stories are character driven. You could take those same characters and drop them in any time period or setting and the stories wouldn’t change that much.  I t would still all be about the characters and how they interact.

Gees, I just admitted I had to look up the definition of urban fantasy. LOL. Guess that answers the question right there — genres just aren’t that important to me. I don’t buy a book by genre but rather by whether it sounds interesting or if it’s a writer I like. I’ve read amazing historicals, urban fantasies, paranormals, mysteries and horrors, and I just classify them as good books rather than pigeonholing them.

BBB: In The Accidental Vampire, Elvi is in her sixties when she’s turned into a “knock-out” vampire. If you could shave off a few years, what would you change about your life?

LS: Hmmm . . . believe it or not, nothing. I have love, good friends, an awesome family , and in writing , I am doing what I’ve always wanted to do, so there is nothing I’d want to change about my life . . . Except maybe live on the water and have a dog.

BBB: What is the most ridiculous thing that you have thought about doing to any of your characters but never did?

LS: I don’t let the fact that something is ridiculous stop me from putting it in a story. Basically, when it’s going well, the story plays like a film in my head and I scramble to type up what’s happening. Whether something is ridiculous or not doesn’t keep me from putting it down. Ridiculous things happen in my life all the time so why shouldn’t they in my characters’ lives? Ironically, the parts of my stories that readers have told me are the most ridiculous and absurd are the ones that are based on true events rather than ones I’ve totally made up which makes me laugh every time.

BBB: Do you think you have a bigger cult following for your historical or your paranormal novels?

LS: According to my book sales and the number of emails I get, I would have to say I have more readers following my Argeneaus than my historicals.

BBB: How do you keep track of your world building?

LS: I have an archive. It’s not easy keeping track of it all but I do my best.

BBB: What do you feel are the benefits of the new electronic readers such as Kindle 2 or Sony Digital Book Reader to the environment?

LS: Well the obvious benefit is less trees will be used to make the paper. Yay! Also being able to download the book gives readers instant access without using any gas to drive to a bookstore. That being said, I will admit that I have never tried a Kindle or any other electronic reader and still prefer holding the actual book in my hand . . . It’s the tub thing, I like to read in the tub but am clumsy as all get out. Drop a book in the tub and you can just dry it out and keep reading. I’m afraid I would go through Kindles ike tissues if I tried them, sigh.

BBB: What impact do electronic readers create on the bottom line for authors in the end? Do you feel they have a negative impact or positive, or no impact at all that you can see?

LS: Financially there is no impact as long as they download the valid copies. The problem is pirated issues. My publishers are very aware of this and have a pretty decent legal department that stays on top of it all, but it’s getting more wide spread as time goes on.

BBB: Can you tell us about the Argeneau Vampire series and the general storylines that drives it?

LS: The general story line . . . there are immortal people living among the mortal population today. They are descendants of an ancient civilization that was advanced technologically to the point that they began to work with bio-engineered nanos as a medical aid to fight disease and repair injuries from inside the body without the need for invasive surgery. These nanos used blood to make repairs and fuel themselves which meant the host needed more blood than a body could supply to support the nanos. In that civilization this was dealt with through transfusions. However, when a series of natural disasters (earthquakes and volcanoes) brought an end to that civilization, only those people the nanos had been tested on survived, and they suddenly found themselves in a primitive society. Without their much needed blood transfusions, many died, but in others the nanos lived up to their programming to keep the host at their peak condition and forced a sort of evolution on them, bringing on fangs and other skills so that their hosts could get the blood they needed.

That’s the background, but my stories are based mostly around one particular family of immortals : the Argeneaus. They are really your typical family. I think everyone would recognize at least one member of their own family among this group. My stories tell how each member finds his /her life mate despite all the good intentioned interference and harassment of their loving family.

BBB: What else do you currently have in the works? When can we expect your next book?

LS: For the Devil Of the Highland series: Taming the Highland Bride is being released on January 26th 2010 and The Hellion and the Highlander is being released February 23rd 2010.

For the Argeneau/Rogue Hunter series: Tiny’s story is in the Anthology called Bitten By Cupid and it will be released December 29th 2009, just in time for Valentine’s Day. After which the next novel, Armand’s story, will be released September 28th 2010. It will be followed by Alex Willan’s story a couple of months later. (Yes, Sam’s last sister finds her mate.) Neither story is titled yet.

BBB: If one only one of your stories could be made into movie or tv show, which one would you love to see come to life and who would your dream cast be?

LS: Hmm… that’s a tough one as I love them all. For humour and action I would choose The Accidental Vampire. For action, I would choose The Immortal Hunter. As for my dream cast, that is a very difficult question. While some writers write with actors in mind, my characters are based on real people so no one could really do them justice in my mind.

BBB: Where do you see the paranormal genre headed? Can you see it slowing down in the near future, or do you think that the immediate future is pretty bright for it?

LS: Heck if I know. I’ve never been very good at predicting things. But I’d guess that you probably won’t have everyone and their brother writing them anymore. I’m sure there will still be vamps out there, though. They’ve been around a long time and will probably continue to be around a long time. I think what you’ll find is that the strong voices like Kim Harrison, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Christine Feehan will continue because vamps or no vamps, they write good books.

BBB: Do you have any personal traits that you have written into the characters of your books?

LS: Yes! And friends and family members’ personal traits too. My characters are all based, at least in part, on someone I know.

BBB: Love Bites not only had a sympathetic hero, but a sympathetic villain. Was it harder to create conflict without a true bad guy?

LS: Well I wouldn’t say Pudge was exactly a sympathetic character. I would agree that he wasn’t all that dangerous as a mortal, but I do think he was a villain, a pathetic one maybe, but come on, the guy was trying to kill Etienne because he was a vampire, but also wanted to be one himself. I think he would have been a really dastardly vampire if he’d managed to get himself turned. Pudge was not a nice guy. As to your question, no, I’ve written several stories where there are no true bad guys and have never found it difficult.

BBB: Buffy The Vampire Slayer or The Vampire Diaries?

LS: Definitely Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I haven’t had time yet to even see any of the new series they have out like The Vampire Diaries and such. Even so, it would probably still be Buffy.

BBB: If you could have dinner with ANY literary figure in history, who would it be and why?

LS: This is sad, but there isn’t really anyone I can think of. At least not from the past. However, I’d love to have dinner with someone who was funny, like Craig Ferguson or Ellen Degeneres. And Craig has just published a book so I guess he fits into the literary category!

BBB: I understand you were living overseas… do you find it much different being back in rural Canada?

LS: Yes indeed. I missed the sunshine while in England, not to mention my friends and family . . . and bologna.

BBB: Are there any plans for book signings/ readings anytime soon? (Particularly in Southwestern Ontario LOL)

LS: There are no plans at the moment. This summer was a busy one with two novels and one anthology due, corrections and proofs on previous stories, a conference in Washington, a week in New York, another week up north and various blogs, interviews etc. I need a little break before I can consider more business trips and book signings.

Lynsay, Here is my question - As the general story line unfolds throughout your books, you keep opening up new lines of immortals who require lifemates. Do you intend to continue writing books to “mate” up all of your single immortals or will you stop after filling the Argeneau family tree?

My hope is that you will continue to write more books in this world that you have created. It’s a place that many of us would love to live in!

    Hi Sue,

Gees, I swear that wasn’t up there when I typed up my good morning.

As to your question, I’ll keep writing them as long as you guys keep wanting them . . . well, so long as the ideas keep coming and the publisher keeps pubbing them too. I enjoy writing these stories, so why stop.

HI Lynsay!! I love the Argeneau books! Sue in Chicago asked waht I was going to,so I’ll ask a different question. Of all you Immortals, if you had to pick one as your life mate, who would it be and why? (and don’t say it would be like picking a favorite child, lol-there has got to be ONE you would pick ) ;)
    Thanks!! Lisa

Also, I did RSVP for this event, posted a link on my FB wall, and we are already FB friends, I’m following you on Twitter( lasergirl70) and joined yor FB fan page

    Hi Paula,

There is going to be an anthology out in January called Bitten By Cupid. It has Tiny’s story in it. But the next full vamp novel that ties in with this one doesn’t come out until next September. It’s Armand’s story and I was hoping it would be pubbed much sooner than it is because it gives a lot of answers that weren’t in Nicholas’s story (those answers would have given away a lot of Armand’s story). But I don’t set pub dates.

The book after that, which is Alex Willan’s story (Sam’s older sister and the last of the Willan girls)comes out a couple months after Armand’s. Neither book has been titled yet.

    Hi Roxanne,

I’m not sure how many books there will be. As I mentioned there is an anthology as well as two books already written and waiting to be pubbed, and then I’m contracted for at least two more. So long as the ideas keep coming, I’ll keep writing them.

    Hi Lisa,

I guess I’d pick Lucian. I’ve always gone for the strong, silent, grumpy ones. Not sure why. Maybe because I’m so not silent and mostly always cheerful. Opposites attract and all that.

Hi Linsay. I just bought Renegade last night and I have the Argeneau books on my list to buy. I love that you chose to have them vampires due to nanos in their blood. How much research on nano technology and biology did you do for the series and do you have a background in either? If not what made you chose to go that route. I have to admit I know little about it, but nano technology fascinates me.

hey linsay, thanks for taking some time out of your schedule to answer our questions. my question for you is one that i combat daily and i was wondering if you do too. it should be no reflection of your writing because i absolutely love your writing, especially etienne’s story, but i wanted to know… when you’re writing, do you ever get too critical of yourself and question your skills as a writer?

Welcome to BBB Lynsay and thanks for playing with us!

First I must admit that I have only read your Argeneau books and nothing else. *hangs head* But…I love the series and it’s always fun seeing the different family members in each book. I have always been curious as to how you came up with the idea of their background. There are so many different vampire/immortal “worlds” out now but yours is, in my opinion, one of the more unique ones. Where did you get the idea?

Thanks again for coming to BBB, this was a great interview!

    Hi Ursula,

I did do research on nanos, but I don’t have a background in either nano technology or biology. I took a couple of biology courses when getting my psych degree but that’s it. It was mostly research, and probably not enough, lol. Actually, I have since had readers send me info such as university articles and so on about nanos suggesting they are moving in a direction not that far removed from what I suggest. One was about nanos to remove wrinkles and another was from a nurse working in the area who told me she works on a research team that is experimenting medically with nanos which I thought was WAY COOL.

Hi Lynsay! I’m a long time fan of yours, I have loved your Argeneau books they’re so engaging and pass by much to quickly for me :) They are the kind of books you CAN NOT put down!

My question is: At what age did you start to find out that you had a facination for vampires? I was a fan of them WAY before twilight, I guess i must have been 13 if not younger before I decided that I was a vamp-aholic! Most of the books in my library are either historicals or vampire novels.

    Hi Lynsay,
I’ve been looking forward to this interview — always fascinates me to read about how authors create their work. I love that your favorite, most rewarding part of being an author, is taking your readers away from the day to day humdrum and into a new world, an imaginary world. No wonder your books serve as an excellent distraction device :-) Keep up the great work.

Question, Did you try some sea-side fish and chips while you were living in the UK, and if you did, what did you think of them? What was your favorite thing about living in the UK?

Yeah, the weather kinda sucks (bad pun intended)there, so unpredicatable. Cloudy and rainy one minute, the next 20 C — an interchangable wardrobe needed, on a daily basis! LOL

It’s the one thing I miss the most about living away from the UK, food! I miss British gravy and so many other things too — everything tastes different, even meat!! It’s weird, and you get use to it, but there’s nothing like going home and getting your first home cooked meal there. :-)

Thanks for the interesting read here, and for all the hours of escape you’ve given me, through your work.

I RSVP’ed, member of twitter, facebook, and goodreads.

Lynsay, I absolutely LOVE your Vampire series and I have just recently started reading the highland series. I have a few questions and feel free to only answer one, I know you’ll be getting a bunch.

    1) What made you write historical and Sci-Fi? Since they are two completely different areas of fiction.

    2) What is your muse? What helps you write when you get stuck.

    3) Where did you come up with medical explanation for the existence of Vampires.?I love it and it’s very original in the genre.

    Hi Lynsay,
What a great interview! I have read all your books the Argeneaus’ being my favorites. Another Buffy fan here, though I am watching Vampire Diaries and find it interesting so far.
Like you Lucian is one of my favorites, strong & silent but deadly when needed.

    Hi Lori,

Actually I had the worst time with Lissianna. I have a hard time writing female immortals when they are with mortal males. It’s a balance thing. The female immortal is hundreds of years old, therefore has seen and done a lot, and is more experienced at EVERYTHING. She is also physically stronger and has an advantage in many other ways as well because she can read and control mortals. That puts her on a whole other level in comparison to mortal males. I know that’s the case for male immortals with female mortals as well, but for some reason that balance doesn’t bother me as much. That probably makes me old fashioned or something but I want the male mortal to be able to hold his own with the female which is hard to do when you know she could pick him up like a football and run up the road with him, or that when it comes to being attacked, she can take care of it with a little mind control leaving him unnecessary.

Basically, I have trouble seeing a man as sexy if he’s weaker than the female character, and if I don’t find him sexy it’s hard for me to write that the heroine does so I always have trouble with female immortals and male mortals.

Actually, a good portion of the family gets together at the end of Armand’s story, but not Marguerite’s kids. If it works into a story I’m always happy to bring everyone together and I’m sure you’ll see it again. . . maybe when I do Christian’s book

Good morning, Lyndsay! So happy to have you here. :)

    My questions are:

What is your favorite genre? Is there one you’ve always wanted to write and haven’t yet tackled yet?

    And the other stuff:

I just joined Lyndsay’s Fan Page and added her as a friend on FB. I also follow her on Twitter.

BBB is on my blogroll at http://www.readinsomethingcrazy.blogspot.com, I’m a friend and fan on FB, friend on Goodreads, and on Twitter. I often wonder how I have any time to read after all this… LOL

I did also RSVP for this. :)

    Hi Kate,

GOD YES! Usually by the end of the story I think it’s the worst drivel I’ve ever written. I think that’s standard with writers, lol. At least every writer friend I have has said as much. But once I get a little distance and time and read them again I think, “Hey that was pretty good, what was I worried about?” which is usually followed by, “I wish I could still write like that because this story I’m working on sucks beans and I’ve obviously lost the ability to write.”

What can I say? We writers are a pathetic bunch.

    Just read the Interview :o)

and I don’t think it is important for a book to fit in a category ;)

I read on the forum about the Argenau Series as Audio Book so is there the chance that the foreign edition (of cause I think about the german books) will be available as Audio Book too?

The other question is you write historicals and you write about “modern” vampires it is interesting that you separated this and didn’t write “historic vampire books” do you thought about it or do you think it is a boring combination?

    Hi Becky,

You know how they say necessity is the mother of invention? Well it’s true, I came up with the background from sheer necessity. I didn’t want dead, cursed soulless vamps. How can someone soulless love? Someone cursed would just be all miserable and angst ridden poor-meish which really didn’t seem like a hero to me, and, as for the dead or undead part . . . well, that’s just gross to me. A cold clammy guy, fresh from his grave. Would he smell? Is that bulge in his pants that he’s happy to see you or that he’s in rigor mortis?

Nope, couldn’t do it, so I started looking for other answers, a scientific source for the vampirism. Nanos were the answer, but then I also wanted them old. It just seemed like John Johnson from next door who was perfectly normal until he got ill and was treated with nanos wouldn’t be that sexy. I wanted them old. I wanted them to have seen and done a lot. I mean if he’s been around hundreds of years and you are the first woman he can be with, that makes the heroine more precious than jewels. So, I had to come up with an ancient civilization, and luckily good old Atlantis has always been rumoured to be advanced technologically so it all came together.

    Hi Heather,

I never planned to write paranormals. You can all blame a friend of mine named Melanie Jackson. She, myself and Christine Feehan were chatting on line one night and Melanie said we should all do an antho together, I could do funny, Christine her Dark, and Melanie would do her own version. Up to that point I’d only written Historicals and one spy spoof so I laughed and said if we did that I’d have to write one where the vamp fainted at the sight of blood or something. I threw a couple more ideas out there and then the subject changed, but those ideas stayed with me and I just had to write the Argeneaus.

History is a fascinating subject, or it can be. Some history is dry as dust, but I like history. However, while I did take a course or two in University, my degree is in Psychology.

The storyline was hysterical and had me laughing nearly throughout the entire book. My favorite is also Lucern. Tall dark and serious. The room service phone call had me crying because it was so funny.

I have a question or two. First How is the name Argeneau pronounced? My hubby is french canadian and said it was ar gu new. Is that right?

Also, do you have a routine that you follow before you sit down to write?

    Hi Jo,
Thank you, and yes I did try fish and chips while there and loved it. My favourite thing about being there was being able to hop a train at any time to head wherever. We don’t have a train system like that here. They don’t run as frequently or to just about everywhere like they do in England. I also liked that it was so quick to get to just about anywhere in Europe. And I LOVED York with its old buildings and cobbled streets. And I loved millionaire’s shortbread and scotch eggs, and the coffee shop I used to visit, and ORDERING groceries online and having them DELIVERED when on deadline (that was very awesome) and I miss . . . hmm . . . can’t remember what it’s called, maybe Peking duck? Shredded duck on little wraps with green onion, cucumber and hoison sauce. Sigh. I’d kill to find a good Peking duck here.

Ooops. Well, guess I should shut up about that now, lol. But I know what you mean Jo. It’s funny, while there I missed here, and now here I miss things from there. Ah well . . .

Hi CeCe, Thank you. Hope you like them

    Hi Brittany,

Glad you’re enjoying the series. I started in historical and got roped into paranormals on a fluke, there’s a longer answer earlier. As for my muse . . . I DON’T KNOW!! Wish I did, then I could pull her or him out more often. Reading usually makes me write more though. As for the medical explanation, I covered that earlier too I think. It was just necessity and logic.

    Hi Debbi,
The Vamp Diaries look interesting, but I can’t help but notice that it’s kind of a Melrose place or 90210 version of vamps, by which I mean from the advertisements I see everyone seems perfect and pretty unlike Buffy that had some geeky people and normal people in it. I will watch it eventually though.

As for Lucian, yeah, deadly when necessary is good. Someone has to do the hard stuff in certain situations and I admire that he doesn’t shrink from it.

Good morning Amy!! I’m happy to be here, thanks for having me.

My favourite genre? Hmmmm . . . humor. I don’t really care if it’s a contemp, vamp, or historical so long as I have fun with it. . . . That being said, some day I’d like to try to write a horror, but I suspect it would have a lot of black humor in it.

    Hi Lynsay,

It was awesome getting to meet you at conference. (I’m the one who shares a b-day with you and I think my husband shares a b-day with your assistant) I found your books quite by accident (pardon the pun). LOL. I managed to get a couple other friends rather hooked as well. :) I’ve already downloaded your newest to my Kindle, but I’m trying to hold off reading it till my vacation at the end of October.

I think my favorite of your books was Tall, Dark & Hungry, though I miss the highland series you did with Hannah Howell. That kinda rocked. LOL. Are there plans for anymore in that series?

Oh and as for your historicals, I’m not a historical geek, but my friend told me I’d like Love is Blind. So I read it, with tears in my eyes. I was cracking all the way through. You see, I’m pretty much the same - blind - without my glasses. So many of those scenarios I have been in. Ok, I haven’t set anyone on fire yet…. nor have I spilled tea, but that’s cause I stay away from folks if my glasses are broken. LOL.

But anyway, I love your books, keep ‘em coming!

    Hi Joyce,

You’re more than welcome. Glad you’re enjoying the stories.

    Hi Andrea,

I don’t know if the books will be made audio in foreign languages or not. Sorry I can’t be more helpful on that, but as far as I know, no one has asked for those rights yet. Sorry.

Actually I did three or so half books with Hannah Howell about medieval vamps. I didn’t find it boring and have been considering doing some around the Argeneaus in earlier times. I’m just not sure on it yet.

    Hi Maura,

No, my only job is writing, but most writers only do two books a year and I write four or more as well as anthologies (I believe the most was six stories in five months, four novels and two anthos) so I get by fine on writing only. Which is a good thing since I don’t have any time for work with my schedule, lol.

    Sorry Becky!!

Hope your computers all right, lol. . . I WANT A DOG. Actually I’m hoping to get one soon, I just have been waiting to find time to walk the poor pup before getting it.

    Hi Katie D,

Glad you’re enjoying the stories. Yeah, the condom call WAS a funny one. Believe me I was teeheeheeing and giggling away as I typed it. I could just see Lucern standing there, phone to his ear and peering down at himself uncertainly when she asks what size. And really, the whole thing with CK (the editor Chris Keyes) and the condoms was just a blast to write. Even my editor CK, the basis for the book CK, liked it.

Well, Argeneau may be pronounced Ar gu new in Quebec, but for me it’s Ar-zsa-no the zsa being the same way you say Zsa Zsa Gabor’s name. That’s how the family says it anyway.

The only routine I have before writing is that I have to clean my office before starting a new story. I clean it before, and I clean it after, but don’t touch it much while writing so that by the end of the story I have a floor littered with paper and empty coffee cups everywhere, lol.

    Hi Anna,

I don’t think I will ever venture into true paranormal with the magic and mysticism. I have a terribly logical mind and struggle with the idea of magic and such. The source has to make sense to me. I can believe in nanos, telekinesis, mind reading, and oddly enough even seeing the future, but the whole hocus pocus stuff leaves me a bit baffled. I have enjoyed reading other people’s ventures into it, but when it comes to writing it myself, I’m not so comfortable. I need to believe it to write it. Science I can believe.

I’ve never actually done book signings outside of conferences other than when I signed a gazillion books in a warehouse with four people pulling out the books, opening them, setting them in front of me, then whisking them away and packing them into a box as I signed each one. I’m really very shy. I’m also terribly empathetic. Uncomfortably so. At a conference in Toronto I had a woman who kept walking up to me and bursting into tears and every bloody time I ended up hugging her and crying with her, which just makes your make up run, and then you’re sitting there greeting people looking like a raccoon . . . sigh.

Every reader I’ve met has been lovely. Really, I have the best readers in the world. Every one I’ve met has been amazing. They tell me the most touching stories, like the woman who lost her husband, her son and then remarried only to lose the second husband almost at once, all three deaths taking place in a matter of two years. She was blue as a snake’s belly and thought she’d never smile again and then read one of my books and found herself smiling and even laughing again and wanted to thank me for it. Moments like that make up for all the lack of sleep and hours of work and stress when my characters get cranky and won’t cooperate. They make me extremely proud. I really like meeting readers, but I am a nervous wreck ahead of time for weeks worrying over saying or doing the wrong thing, or disappointing people by not being some sophisticated glamour puss. Somehow I thought if I ever got published I’d lose all my clumsiness and tendency to stick my foot in my mouth and suddenly become incredibly dignified and glamorous . . . hasn’t happened. I’m still as clumsy and unglamorous as I was as a kid climbing rocks and swinging from weeping willows on the island. Ah well, no one’s perfect, lol.

    Welcome to BBB!

I think I have a soft spot for Pudge as a villain. He made me laugh but he never really scared me. : )

You should definitely give The Vampire Diaries (in book form at least) a try. I’ve never seen an episode of Buffy, but I’ve lived with Elena, Stefan, and Damon since Middle School and they are worth the read!

Your answer to the Elvi question made me think–if you could have made any kind of a change, as a kid or no, what would it be? I seriously think mine would be to NOT chop off all my hair because now it will never grow.

    Hi Rachel,

The truth is, I’m not a very good collaborator-type writer. The minute someone else gets involved and limits are put on my story and creativity, my characters take a powder. Any kind of limitation can cramp my writing muscle, even the ones caused by it being a series, but definitely with collaborating, so I would do my darnedest not to have to collaborate, lol.

This question is kind of like the one about what literary figure would you most want to have dinner with. The truth is there is no one author past or present that I truly admire over the others. I LOVE THEM ALL. Every one brings something to the table, their works inspiring me in one way or another. Even books I don’t like teach me something, if only what not to do. So, there’s really no one I’d want to collaborate with.

    Hi Lynsay,

My sister is a huge addict to your books and I’ve only gotten to read a few (she hordes them and it’s hard to pry them from her, lol).

But my question for you is this: Do you ever feel the urge to write silly stories about whichever character is frustrating you at the moment and make them do something ridiculously embarrassing and share it with your avid fans? Like a mini short freebie or something, lol.

On that note, if you did end up writing a free short, would you mention it in your future books or is that soemthing you wouldn’t reference?

Thanks for the amazing stories :)

    Hi Amanda,

I just answered both questions in my answers to Anna and Rachel’s questions, so I’ll point you toward them, but thanks!

    Hi Carol M.

I do go to conventions and I do enjoy them, though I’m always exhausted after. As for what I read for fun, that would be horror.

    Hi Virginia,

I don’t have any other paranormal plot bunnies at the moment. I’ve considered some psychic fun, but nothing has really rattled my brain yet. Shape shifters would have to be my second favourite, I’ve done a couple of those, but they’re scientifically based as well.

Lynsay… have the new book in hand and hey talk about sliding in a wammy right away… I almost didn’t catch it while I was reading walking to and from work today. Thanks for coming… I have the entire Argeneau series, most of the Highland series and a few of the historical. Sorry to hear you will not be making any appearances any time soon…

I love the humor in your books…. is this how you are in person or a trait you open up only in your work? I have met a few people who write very open and compelling characters but talking in person is not their thing.

Also do you have to adjust your writing and sometimes spelling to the US forms even though the Argeneau series is set in Toronto?

I’m taking creative writing and recently started blogging on my Facebook page. I’m not sure how to go about getting into the business of writing. Editors, publishers and such are scary to me. But my friends and family say I’m onto something. Can you give me any advice on breaking into the business and actually selling something you’ve written?

    Lynsay,
I have got to say that this is one series that has managed to stay fresh with each book that comes out. I love the fact that I often laugh out loud when reading them and curse the fact that it takes so long for the next book in the seres.I know that you must here that often, but I do enjoy your books so much. I read alot of paranormal and if vampires did exists, your world is the one I pick to be real.

What one power would YOU like to have if you were a vampire? Me, the power to control all the release of paranormal fiction and to read it at my leisure.

    Hi Cindy,

I may do Ramses and Alexandria’s story some day if I can talk my editor into it. As for transferring nanos between species, that isn’t possible. The nanos were programmed for the human physiology. Who knows though, I mean flus are starting to jump between species, maybe the nanos will one day be able to as well.

As for Renegade, sorry about that. I just couldn’t explain Nicholas’s past situation without giving away Armand’s story. And I too wish it wasn’t such a long wait. I didn’t expect it to be at the time, but then they decided to do two historicals back to back and the vamps were supposed to be back to back to, and . . . ARGH! It’s a sound I often make lately, lol.
    See you at the forum.

    Hi Teresa!

It was lovely meeting you as well!

I’m afraid I’m not allowed to do any more stories for Kensington at the moment. My publisher kind of has me sewn up that way at the moment, but you never know, I may get to do them in the future. Glad you enjoyed Love Is Blind. I had a blast with that one, but then I usually have fun while writing, lol.

    Hi Carol,

Hope you like Vampire, Interrupted. As for favourite movies that would be a toss up between Silence of the Lambs and Princess Bride. I know! Two very different stories, but that’s me. A Gemini you know, two sides to me. And yes I base most characters on people I know and real life is what most inspires me.

    Hi Samantha M.,

Well, I’ve always determined to be a writer. I say it like that because it wasn’t just that I wanted to be, but in my mind I was going to be and that was that. It was what I was best at and what I felt I was meant to do.

I got published before getting an agent, and I was very lucky in getting published. I wrote a book at 19 and sent it in. I received an email from an editor at the publishing house I’d sent the story to asking me to change a few things and send her anything else I’d written, but I don’t think I was ready to be pubbed yet. I set it aside and went to University. I wrote The Deed some years later after finishing University and after my mother’s death and it was bought. So I was VERY lucky and I know that. They get so many stories a day I was lucky they even read it. I didn’t get an agent until I’d had three books pubbed and then it was through another writer who recommended me to her agent.

    Hi Lyda,

An example of personality traits . . . hmmm . . . Well, I wrote Rogue Hunter after a week in a cottage up north with my sisters and while Sam is nothing like me (trust me, I’m no skinny chick and I am not organized enough to be a lawyer) Jo and Alex carry a lot of traits that my sisters do. In fact, they even named the characters representing themselves. Also, some of the stuff that happened at the cottage occurs in the book. Jo and Alex getting up and nearly knocking each other off the dock when they bump butts? That happened. Alex mowing the lawn with Jo running alongside her trying to keep blackflies and mosquitos off her? Also happened.

There are tons of bits of real life in the stories. Greg, Rachel, Kate C. Leever, CK, Terri, Jackie, Leigh, Inez, Marguerite, DJ, Justin Bricker, etc. They are all named after family members and friends. Some carry traits of those people, some don’t, but a lot of events that take place can be traced to real life. For instance Tall, Dark and Hungry has a lot of events that took place in real life on my first date with my husband (it was a week in New York about three or four months after we met. Dating can be hard when he’s in England and you’re in Canada) And so on. . . There is a TON of stuff.

    Hi Sheila,

Good luck at your new job!!

    Hi Linda,

No plans for Halloween yet, though I’ve started buying decorations, lol.

    Hi Joanna,

Actually, yes I have considered a paranormal YA, and I may. It depends. I’m thinking of following Dani’s little sister, Stephanie, (from Immortal Hunter) as she tries to adjust to life as a vamp. I’ve had some ideas for it, but . . . The funny thing is, my publisher’s YA department have been bugging me to do a YA and I was so not interested, but then I wrote the anthology about Tiny and all these other ideas kind of came at me for Stephanie . . . We’ll have to see. I don’t really have a lot of time to add another series to my plate at the moment.

    Hi Becky,

That’s too funny! That’s how Dave and I got our newest kitty. Last week my assistant, Terri, and I were outside discussing what had to be done in the next week or so and this kitten came up meowing. Poor thing was starving to death and had a cold. She was at the vets by the end of day, had shots, tests, flea stuff and she is now growing like a weed.

    Hi Beth,

But what if no one showed up to the signings!!! I guess I could bring a deck of cards, but then I’d demand you sit and keep me company so I wasn’t sitting there alone. LOL

    Hi Cyd J,

In vamps that would be Single White Vampire. The first is always the favourite. Its wide open and you don’t have to fret over family connections, who said what in past stories, etc. It was a true pleasure to write.

Three objects on a deserted island . . . a never dying lighter, a tarp and pen and paper. I know that’s four things, but damn, you need fire and cover, but I would go crazy without the ability to write. . . If I have to give up one it would be the tarp.

    Hi Jackie,

Any change as a kid . . . hmmm . . . I’m not sure. I’d be so afraid that changing anything there might cause some kind of shift in where I am now. I mean, I had some traumas as a kid, things it wasn’t a pleasure to experience as everyone does, but I kind of look at life like we’re all swords. Swords are put in the fire and hammered and pounded on to make them the fine, strong sharp weapon they become. And I tend to look at life that way. I’ve landed in the fire and been hammered repeatedly and this is the result. And while I didn’t always enjoy what life offered, and let me tell you there were some really nasty experiences back there, I do like the end result. I like me and wouldn’t want to risk being somehow different, so, again, I probably wouldn’t change a thing.

    Hi Biki,

I’ve never wanted to write a mini short to retaliate with cranky characters, but I have considered writing mini shorts for those times something doesn’t get put in a book. For instance, The Immortal Hunter ended up leaving readers hanging about Stephanie and I was really frustrated by that. I originally wrote it so that readers saw she was fine, but it got edited out. I seriously considered writing a short story about her turn and Dani’s irritation with Lucian over his not telling her that in his experience if siblings were turned by a no-fanger and one came out okay, the other always did as well. But I just didn’t get the time, and I wasn’t sure if I could legally, so I left it. I may do things like that in the future though. If I do, it would probably be announced on my website and in my newsletters. I don’t think my publisher would put it in the book. Who knows though, I could be wrong.

    Hi Liza,

    Hi Shannyn,
Out of all my books, historical or vamp, my favourite all time character would still be Lucian.

    Hi Shell,
Well, I’ve had people tell me I sound just like my books, and people tend to laugh around me a lot . . . even when I’m not trying to make them laugh, but that’s because of my scattered, half-a-brain in a story and half on what I’m doing clumsiness. My Aunt and Uncle used to come to town to visit and call to have me come see them and “make them laugh.” I also have a terrible tendency to tell people everything, I’m afraid I’m not big on secrets. My Mom once told me that if you don’t want to be embarrassed, don’t do anything you wouldn’t want others to know about because they usually find out and I kind of took that to heart I guess. Rather than wait for them to find out, I’d just tell them myself, lol. As I kid on the rare occasions that I skipped class I’d go home and when mom asked how my day had gone, I’d say, “Good, I played hooky though.” So, I’m pretty open and I think I’m probably like my writing.

Yes, I have to set my computer to American spelling otherwise my editor will change it anyway and then I have to change it in my version and so on. CK used to call those spelling differences my “Canadianisms” lol

    Hi Amy,
Thank you, and the answer to who is my favourite would be Lucian

    Hi Angie S.,
Check out my website http://www.lynsaysands.net and look under FAQs. The best advice I can give is to get a copy of the Writer’s Market. They put a new one out every year and it tells who publishes what, who accepts unagented solicitations and gives advice on querying and how to write one. It’s what I did. Got the book, followed the advice, and badda boom badda bing, here I am.

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you very much. That’s a lovely compliment. As for which power I’d want to have . . . hmmm . . . Would it be awful to admit the power to control minds? You know those guys who stare directly at your chest while supposed to be talking to you? Or the men who hit on you and don’t stop even after several very polite rebuffs, or people who abuse animals or kids, or even bitchy females who give you a hard time in stores . . . There are just some things I’d love to take control of them and make them do. . . I think I have an evil streak. Sigh.

    Hi Angela T.,

Most names come from family members or people I know, though some of the older ones are found through research in names.

    Hi Terri W.
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying them.

    Hi Elaine G,

Glad you liked my shape shifters. As for writing another one, you never know. I may. In fact, I was going to do one for the anthology out in January, but they wanted a vamp, so I did Tiny instead.

    Hi Nancy,

Oh, Marguerite will definitely be having babies with Julius. As an immortal, you’re never too old, and she never got to see Christian grow up so will want that with Julius.

    Hi Emmad,

Thank you, glad you’re enjoying it. I don’t have any plans for other types of paranormal characters at the moment, but do have some ideas rattling around in my poor woolly brain.

    Hi Patricia,

Oh, yes, there are definitely more historical coming, though I can’t guarantee historical vamps at the moment. There are two straight historical coming out in February and March though.

    Hi Dorothy P,
You’re very welcome, and that’s very flattering about the “this author has a “LynsaySands” sense of humor” Seriously, that’s awesome.

    Hi Mindy Stone,

I definitely prefer the full length novels. It takes me just as long to write a short as it does a long because I’m constantly having to cut cut cut to keep it short. Very frustrating.

I’m very interested in being entered in the Lynsay Sands contest. I have registered for the newsletter and the forum. My question for you Ms. Sands is: Since many of the characters are finding lifemates and marrying, will the offspring develop normally or will we find them maturing at a much rapid/slower rate for children? I also wonder what characteristics will be given to the offspring of a union between a mortal and immortal, i.e. one that may not inherit the nanos thus immortality? Oh I have thousands of suppositions on this topic, lol.

I have all your books paranormal and non, I really love the humor you put in your characters. I just finished The Renegade Hunter yesterday-loved it and can’t wait for all the answers from the ending (a year is a long time to wait). My question is:
Will you be doing any more books with your highland vampires with Hannah Howell-she just published a new one and I really missed you having a story in there!

My question to you is simple. Is Etienne Argeneau a boxers or briefs guy? I loved him (he was the first one I read with the purple bewitched style cover)

    Hi Ven D,

That’s a hard question for me. I guess The Accidental Vampire and The Immortal Hunter have enough action to be a movie, but I’m not sure.
    Hi Kayla J,
I answered this in more detail earlier, but basically I get the ideas mostly from life, Kayla.

    Hi Karen S,

Yes, Nicholas should be added to the family tree now in the next update to my webmistress.

    Hi Susan H. C.,
I’m not sure why I decided on a vamp family, I guess it just seemed natural. Their being non-traditional vamps set it up for that and family is important to me so it would naturally be important to my characters.

Hi Lynsay, I absolutely LOVE your books. I’ve finished the first two and working on Single, White Vampire. I just love Lucern……

    Question:
How’d you come up with the Argeneau family? They are an interesting group of people.

    Hi Deb A,
The offspring develop just as mortals would, well, I mean they take about nine months. Of course they differ in other ways if immortal, like they have fangs and so on. As for whether they are mortal or immortal depends entirely on the mother. The nanos are carried in the blood so even if the father is immortal, if the mother is mortal, the child will be as well. The child will always go by the mother’s blood.

    Hi Darkreader,
Sorry, my publishing contract prevents me being able to pub with anyone else at the moment. That’s why I haven’t done another half-book with Hannah. My editor at Kensington asked, but I wasn’t able. Oddly enough, he wasn’t surprised and said he expected that to happen, so I guess it’s a common thing.

    Hi Marnie Colette,

Etienne is a boxers guy. Most of the Argeneau men are, lol.

First of all, thank you for spending some time with us here at Bitten By Books! Secondly, THANK YOU for writing such great books that have helped me get through the night on a couple of occasions. Your characters are edgy/funny and warm/scary and you do it masterfully. My first love was Science Fiction and my second Historical, so I’ve a double fan of yours LOL.

Is there ever an occasion when a character just completely takes over your storyline and the book comes out differently than you intended?

    Hi Alicia,
Lucian is my favourite character, this and the reason why is answered in an earlier post.
As for who I would write about if I could only do one more story, I guess that would be Christian, because I like closure and he’s the last of Marguerite’s children unsettled.

    Hi JM Luna,
“do you have plot bunnies hopping around your head with characters we’re yet to know about in the Argeneau Series?”
    Of course! LOL.
    Hi StormR,

Thank you, I’m glad you’re enjoying them. Characters often take off in a direction I never expected, that’s usually the sign of a really good book for me, it means they have taken on a life of their own.

    Hi Tania L,

It wasn’t really hard, I just needed the logic of the explanation, so I guess it was obvious.

    Hi Renee,

The way I came up with the nanos is answered in an earlier post and I’m too pooped to look for it so you’ll have to do it yourself, lol. Thanks for coming though.

Well my questions have already been asked and answered. I am so happy that two more full stories will be out next year - wish they were coming out sooner but still very happy. Also happy to hear that you have plans for two more and I hope you continue this series for a long time - all of them have been great so far. I love the your books include humor in addition to romance and action. I have gotten a few of my friends hooked on them as well - they weren’t so sure when I told them they were going to laugh but once they started they had to read all of the of them as well. I can’t wait to read this latest book and I guess I will have to also read the Highland series as well if they are as good as this series.

I wanted to tell you I love your Argeneau series. I have read all of your books. I think your a great writer and what I like the most about your books is the humor.

I was wondering since the Argenaeu family have all found their mates if you have any plans to write about another family in the same way? Would it be another light hearted series since the Rogue hunter seemed to take a different turn with more action.

    Hi Mary Jo T,
I don’t care for anthologies much either, but Tiny was being uncooperative when I tried to write a full length novel and I did want to get him a life mate, so . . . yes, you get his life mate story in Bitten By Cupid.

    Hi Vale,
    - are you ever going to write Christian’s story and the stories of the other members of the Notte family?
Yes, I plan to, though I’m not sure when.
    - who was the inspiration for Marguerite’s character?
My mother though she wasn’t quite as strong or interfering
    - is it difficult to keep separated the two worlds of the historicals and the Argeneaus?
Nope, no more than it is to keep medievals and regencies separated

    Hi Diane Sadler,
That was answered earlier Diane. I know there are a lot of comments but I’m afraid it’s a long answer and I don’t want to type it up again. Maybe try the find on page thingie and type in Melanie Jackson

    Hi Beth,

“Did the one scene actually happened in a real Romantic Times Convention or not?:)”

I’m guessing you’re talking about the codpiece stuck to the table cloth scene and as far as I know, no that’s never happened. Although really, I’m sure it could and may have.

    Hi Jen S,

“My question…What made you decide to break the series into the Rogue Hunter books?”

I didn’t. I just wrote Mortimer’s story and Avon kind of freaked and said we have to change the title from Argeneau series because Mortimer isn’t an Argeneau, so they called his a rogue hunter book. I have no idea what they’ll do when I do someone who is neither an Argeneau or a rogue hunter, like maybe a Notte. I’m sure they’ll freak and change the name again. LOL. It’s all the same series in my mind, though.

“Also, I haven’t read any of your historicals, but from the raves in the posts here, I think I’ll start. Which do you suggest I begin with?”

Hmmm . . . I really liked The Key . . . and The Switch was fun . . . Always was good fun to write too . . .GAD! You don’t really expect me to pick one? LOL

    Hi Keta,

“Do you think historicals will ever make a big comeback? It seems they are a hard sell most of the time, yet I love them.”

I love them too and it’s been a struggle getting publishers to put out two of them a year for the last couple of years. I’ve had to fight for it. As for a big comeback, I think they’re still very popular. I certainly love them. And Julia Quinn, Christina Dodd, Amanda Quick, Lisa Kleypas . . . these are not small names in the industry. They are popular as ever I think, just quieter about it. Thank you for your well wishes Keta

    Hi again Anna S. H.,

You’re more than welcome, as to your question about logic and lycans . . . well really if I took the science from the shape shifter books, an experiment that makes molecules unstable . . . and combined it with the ailment of lycanthropy . . . well I might come up with something, lol. Although, fair warning, you know my sense of humor, there would be something embarrassingly puppyish in it, butt licking, groin sniffing, car chasing . . . you know I wouldn’t be able to resist. LOL.

Thank you Qwill!!! I’ll do my best.

    Hi Seri,
    Glad you’re enjoying the books.
“How do you come up with a new character? Is it a name or a scene that comes to your mind first? “
It’s usually a scene . . . I think. Gees, I’m not sure, it just happens. But I’m usually having to look up names to suit the character.
    Hi Natasha Hill,
No problem, use the search on this page function and look up Melanie Jackson and that should give you your answer. I’m glad you’re enjoying the books.

    Hi Gale O,
I’m just going to write until the ideas stop coming or you guys stop wanting them. As for the grand ending . . . those seem to write themselves with me.

    Hi Patti A,
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying them, and reccommending them to others is the best compliment.

    Hi Stacey F.,
The Rogue hunters have more action because of what they do for a living. Being hunters lends itself to their being a little less funny. I may follow a different famiily for a while, but I can’t say for sure right now, it depends where my imagination leads me. I will say that life has been a bit tough the last couple of years which also affected my funny bone, but things are easing up and my sense of humor is returning, so the series may take another turn soon.

“That’s too funny! That’s how Dave and I got our newest kitty. Last week my assistant, Terri, and I were outside discussing what had to be done in the next week or so and this kitten came up meowing. Poor thing was starving to death and had a cold. She was at the vets by the end of day, had shots, tests, flea stuff and she is now growing like a weed.”

Awww….poor little thing. But obviously she knew where to go also! Glad she’s doing so much better!

Umm, hey Lyndsay, I doubt I could ask something that hasn’t already been asked, so I’ll just comment/say that you AND your characters/books are ridiculously awesome. I really appreciate how you can combine real life comedy and serious situations but not be too over the top about either. I hope you never get tired of writing this series and PLEASE do all u can to make sure these Leo freaks are caught soon, 1 spawn case like Dee is 1 way too many, not sure how many of those I can take!

Have a great one! (Get lots of rest, dunno why but felt like I needed to say that).

    Hi Christina W,

“Do you have plans to do Christian’s book?”
Yes, eventually but I can’t say when right now.

    Hi Becky,

“Aww….poor little thing. But obviously she knew where to go also! Glad she’s doing so much better!”

She definitely came to the right house, I wanted to call her Lucky but Dave wanted Parsley??? A strange name, but since I named Emma, I figured it was his turn so Parsley it is.

    Hi Ashley H,

    Thank you!!

    Hi Lori T,

Favorite holiday? Hmmm . . . Christmas I guess . . . cause it’s the one holiday where we see EVERYONE in the family . . . also I like to get and give gifts.

    Hi Carmen R,

Thank you, glad you’re enjoying the stories.

    Hi Donna S,

“You gave us hints of what is coming in the enxt year, but what baout after that.”

I’m afraid I can’t answer that because I don’t know. I won’t know until I sit down to write and the characters come to speak to me. My editor has given up on asking for outlines because the story is never the one I give her outlines for.

“ How many more books are you thinking of in this series?”

Don’t know that either. I guess until the ideas stop.

“If you could co-write a book, paranormal or otherwise, with any writer in history, who would it be and why?”

I would never co-write. The characters live in my head, can’t write them if they live in someone elses, and if the other person had ideas and I was trying to write their ideas, then it wouldn’t really be my writing. It would be stiff and unconnected from me if that makes any sense.

    Hi Sarah Weiss,

“My question for Lynsay Sands is what books inspired you growing up?”
All of them. Frankly, I read so many I don’t recall any single one and couldn’t name them . . . except for Nancy Drew, I distinctly remember reading that series.

“ And since becoming an author yourself, have you met any of your favorite authors?”

My favorite authors are all in the horror genre and unfortunately they don’t come to romance conferences, lol.

    Hi Stacey Smith,

    Thank you!

    Hi Lesley Cheah,

“When you were younger and knew you wanted to be a writer, what were some of the things you did in order to learn your craft?”

I read every spare minute of the day, and then I wrote the same way. I’ve written on buses, trains, planes, in coffee shops, cars, boats . . . even in the tub. You name it and I’ve read or written there. It’s really the only way to learn a craft like this. In my opinion, I don’t think you can be taught to write in a class room. You need to read and you need to write . . . a lot.

    Hi Carol L, and Breiab

    Hi Chris Swan,

“My question is What is your least favorite genre?”

I’m not sure if this is a genre, but sad stories. Anything that would make me cry. I used to stop at my aunt’s place for tea on the way home from high school and I distinctly remember her opening the door, soggy tissues in hand, tears rolling down her face, saying, “You should read this, I’ve never cried so hard in my life.” I believe I looked at her as if I thought she were mad (which I did, lol) and said, “Why on earth would I want to read something that’s going to make me cry? Life is cruddy enough without adding fictional misery to it.”

And I still feel that way today. I don’t mind a happy, “it’s so touching” cry, but I don’t want to read sad “she met her greatest love and they married and on their honeymoon were in a car accident and he died and she is paralyzed from the neck down and left in a wheel chair with only her memories” which as I recall was the plot she recounted of the book she was sobbing over and insisting I should read.

    Comment Teresa D’Amario — October 2, 2009 @ 6:28 am

“I remember why Lucian is your favorite. I think I read something
    somewhere about why that was.”

    LOL, Teresa

Hi Paula H, hope you like them if you get the chance to read any

Hi April! Thank you!! You’re more than welcome

“Will you run out of Argeneau family members? And if so what next?”

I don’t know and I don’t know, lol. Honest to God, the stories just come and I write them. And I never know from story to story what will be next. I thought I was going to write Tiny’s full length novel some time ago, but he didn’t cooperate and I ended up writing another. I’ve started loads of stories and then switched midway to another. I find that’s better than trying to force a story that isn’t cooperating. I HAVE done the forcing a time or two. Those are usually the stories that are least funny, it’s because I’m forcing them, and I’m usually forcing them because someone wants them told rather than because the characters are talking to me . . . that’s why I say the biggest challenge for me is to not try to please others and to write for myself.

    Hi Ashley N,

Sorry, no Jill probably won’t have her own full length novel, but she may show up in someone elses someday if I ever do more shape shifter stories. We’ll both just have to wait and see.

    Hi Jennifer G,

“With your unique idea on vampires, what do you think of Twilight and how it went in describing vampires?”

Okay, don’t get upset with me here, but I haven’t read the Twilight series. I did buy them and they are in my tbr pile, but I just haven’t had time to read ANYTHING in quite a while. I have a library of HUNDREDS (probably thousands, but in case my husband is reading, we’ll say hundreds) of books I’ve bought and want to read, but I just haven’t got to them yet. I’\m supposed to have some downtime in the next couple of months though and believe me I will be gloaming on books.

    Hi Biki, You’re welcome!

    Hi Terry F

“1. In the book “The Accidential Vampire” a lot of the older citizens in town were life mates to several of the European Vamps. Will we read more about them in the future?

Yes, you will revisit Port Henry in Tiny’s story, though only briefly, and you’ll only see Elvi, Victor, Mabel, DJ and Harper. However, I do have some ideas for that town in the future . . . it’s just a matter of when those ideas will stop cogitating and the characters will start walking up inside my head and saying, “Hello, our turn now.” Believe it or not, that IS how I usually write, I have a ton of ideas whirling in my head like clothes in a dryer and when it comes time to write, the characters making the most noise get their story told. . . unless I force it so that a story will follow another and then . . . well, I mentioned what happens then above.

    2. I have all of the Argeneau Family books except ” A Bite to Remember”. Will it be reissued any time in the future so that I may the complete set?

Erika? Did you read that? She can’t find A Bite To Remember . . . Is it out of print? Oh, sorry, Terry, Erika is my editor and I know she’s been checking in here to make sure I was a good girl and answering questions (Grin) Though she might not check today. Avon is pretty good about reprinting when stock runs out, so I imagine they will reprint A Bite To Remember. They usually do it around the time of the latest release because that’s when the demand is up, so you might want to check into it in the next week or so. Or check their website http://www.Harpercollins.com . They may have some themselves

Now, to everyone, thank you very much for having me and for your lovely compliments and well wishes. I do appreciate every one of them

    Take care

    HI Lynsay,

Popular lady I just spent almost 90 seconds scrolling down to the comment box. Wow It has never taken so long to get to the end of the comments. I started reading several years ago with Single, White Vampire. And I have to say I loved it and have read all those that came after. I never saw the first two until long after that though. Did you write them first or did The idea or a vamp writing his siblings stories as fiction give you the idea of going back and doing it? I know I could make it easy and just check copyright dates but I’d rather ask.
