Emma Montrose, secretary for George Taniwha & Co., wanted to become an full-fledged investigator for the company. She had taken all the tests and now awaited the chance to prove herself. Jack Sullivan was the man of her dreams. One of the main investigators for the company, Jack had been a fantasy of Emma’s from the first time she laid eyes on him, and unfortunately, that had been the only thing she had laid on him.

Jack’s newest case was taking him undercover to a private resort thought to be dealing in illegal sports enhancing drugs. The only problem was that it was a couples-only resort and he would be getting a newbie investigator to go with him as to keep his cover. Emma, the pleasantly rounded secretary that followed his every move, would be helping him on her first case. That is unless Jack wanted to take one of the guys, but his true nature as a Taniwha shifter demanded sex to keep his human form while the moon was full and that option was not on the menu.

Jack vowed to stay away from Emma, but as the case progresses, the more they deny the attraction, the harder it is to stay away, especially when Emma wins not only a year’s supply of condoms but various other toys. Finding out that there was more to the case than they had first thought, the two battle their attraction as they uncover not only the drugs they suspected but a pornography ring selling the tapes of the guests as amateur porn. With their “tapes” being the talk of the staff, the truth behind Emma’s pile of “gifts” is more than evident. When Emma is kidnapped, Jack can’t stop the change as it allows them a means of escape. Jack has finally realized what Emma means to him, but will Emma run from him at the first chance when she sees his true self and the secrets he has kept hidden from her?

I was totally enthralled with this short novella from start to finish. The erotic play between the two main characters was both flirtatious and arousing. The perceptions of themselves as less than desirable because of the flaws they saw within themselves could be both accepted and desired by the other. I only wish that this had been a full length novel as the sexy and fun banter between the main characters was very entertaining.
