Turquoise Eye of Horus by Marisa Chenery
When Codie schedules a break from her humdrum life to go to Egypt, she certainly isn’t planning on getting lost in the desert. Armed only with a few days’ water and a turquoise amulet, things seem hopeless until the necklace draws the attention of ancient deity Horus. As a falcon, he must protect her from the earthly dangers of Egypt, and as a god, Horus must defend Codie from his evil uncle, Seth. In dreams, however, they are free to share heat and passion as intense as the desert sun.
This is a very well-done novella, full of attention to detail and accurate historically. The heroine is likable and sympathetic, paired with a yummy god-hero. I would not have minded learning more about her backstory - she seems interesting - and seeing what Horus was up to for the few thousand years in which he was not being worshiped, but these little critiques do not overly diminish the fun of the book. Worth a read, especially for any Egyptian fan.
