Sister Oriko is a scholar and member of a religious order. She was perfectly content with her life until Father Life began sending her visions about the upcoming Offering Ceremony between two clans. Clan Stor is rich and powerful, while Clan Meretu is small and poor. Oriko’s visions tell her that if the ceremony is completed, there will be war between the clans and a young man struck down by a sword. She knows she must stop this war before it begins.

“Offering” is a lovely short story, skillfully written with a delicate touch and beautiful imagery. It portrays courage, sacrifice and romance of the finest order.
