When the queen of the vampires dies, she bequeaths an “elixir of life” to several chosen servants. While an assassin tracks down this elixir, two of those chosen take pleasure in one another before having to make the choice for immortality.

I would have liked to have read this with the rest of the series so I could get a better feel for the whole plot, but this novella was enjoyable on its own - and very hot. The assassin was a very interesting character, and I imagine that as more of his background is revealed in later releases, he will become even more so. I think the series would benefit from more backstory for its characters, to give them a bit more depth, but nonetheless, it is an interesting read.
