One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Jeaniene Frost brings us book 2 in the Night Huntress series featuring the extraordinary vampire hunter Cat Crawfield. The interesting part about our protagonist is that she is half-vampire herself and she works in a special FBI division hunting and killing rogue vamps! I have to say that this is one of my new favorite authors and really look forward to the next book in the series. Cat just kicks ass and doesn’t bother taking names. That is my kind of girl!
No urban fantasy book with a sexy slayer and vampires would be complete without a steamy hunk of burning vampire love. And what better name for said hunk than Bones. This time around Cat and Bones are finally reunited and are eyeball deep in trying to find out who is trying to assassinate Cat. There is plenty of action both in and out of the bedroom in this book. Ms. Frost really has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat. Get your copy now to find out who’s behind this diabolical plan to rid us of our heroine.
Rumor has it that three MORE books have been picked up by Avon in this series! Since this is the second in the series, be SURE to pick up a copy of the first book Halfway to the Grave.

What I liked about this was that I very much got a “what if Buffy and Spike got together” moment out of this book. I called my best friend and read passages to her (our check on whether or not a book is truly great). “Halfway to the Grave” is on my MUST BE BOUGHT list!

YES! Exactly Arwen. I really miss Buffy and Angel. Bones has got to be one of my favorite vamps right now. I am stoked for the next in the series.

This was such a great book. The first was wonderful and this one was even better. The steamy hunk of burning vampire love just cracked me up but it’s the truth.

I miss Buffy too. You know, I also felt Bones had a little Spike going on for him… Only Bones is less damaged. More confident. And sexier as a result, but that’s just my opinion.
This series does continue to get better and better. Jeaniene Frost is truly one of my new favorites.

Buffy and Spike… Now they had some of the hottest moments of the series! Remember that one when he had her against the building with everything falling down around them?
This review doesn’t really do Jeaniene’s books much justice. There’s a power to her writing that grabs the reader from the get-go and doesn’t let go until the last page.
Bones and Cat have as many facets as a diamond. The plot is always exciting, yes, but more so is the drama of how these two bounce off of each other.
Love Jeaniene’s writing! (As if you couldn’t tell!)

I haven’t read any of Ms. Frost’s books yet, but this review and the contest has certainly piqued my interest. I’m a fan of female vamp heroine’s myself I will definitely be on the lookout for book one in this series, and if I win an arc copy of the book, all the better. Can’t wait to read the Night Huntress Series. Best of luck with it, Jeaniene

I never saw an episode of Buffy in my life. Angel used to be on while I was getting ready for work in the morning, but the Buffy/Spike image was never there when I was reading these books.
Cat has grown so much since first waking up in that cave. She still has her temper and her mental screw-ups (thanks mom and dad, right?), but her acceptance of Bones and his lifestyle (ha! lifestyle) is a positive step.
Ooh, and the romance. Oh my. I had shivers running up and down my spine reading about their romp with the biting and tying and letting his former flame listen in. So delicious!

This was a great addition to the series! I can not wait to read the newest At Grave’s End. Cat and Bones are so exciting to read about.
Great review!

Yeah! This book is great too. And I love the relationship between Cat and Bones!

The thing that I liked most about this series is that it is somewhat different from your typical vampire books. Cat is only half vampire and we have seen that before but the half vampires are usually okay with their ‘heritage’ and dont go around killing the others of that kind…none that I recall anyway.

This is next up on the book order. I really enjoyed the first one and look forward to this one and the third.

I read some of the earlier comments on here, I got into Buffy because of these books. I recently just started season 5 and just finished the episode where spike had the dream about being in love with buffy. I don’t think that they have anything on Cat and Bones though.
I loved this book more than the first one. There were so many twists and turns with this book. I’m a little disappointed at Cat in the ending though. I can not wait for the next book to come out!
(one more thing, did anybody elses copy cover come off with in one time of reading them? I had that issue with both books, the first one the store replaced the second book the publisher sent me a free copy.)

Jeaniene has got to be my favorite author, and I really can’t wait for the next book! I have to say Cat and Bones do definatley keep you on the edge of your seat. Not only is there spectacular action and hot romance, there is also just the right amount of humor to keep it light and extremly interseting.

I absolutely love this book! And I am not shocked by how popular this series is!And really, really? Three more? YAY! I love Cat! The trials she and Bones go through show how much love there is. Of course it’s helpful that there is sooo much action to keep them busy! Oh I so want the third book!

sexy slayer and steamy hunk pretty much describe Cat and Bones! I think that they are a perfect couple because they bring out the best in each other.

I’m just finding out about Jeannie Frost from Facebook. I absolutely can’t wait to order these books. I love the idea of a half vampire thing. After reading what each book is about I have to say it raised the hairs on my arms with excitement, and motivation to write harder. Paula

I have read the books so many times that both covers have fallen off and I’m just about to replace them, one set for reading and another set for my shelf
I cant wait untill the next one comes out!

Yes, this review of the second book in the Night Huntress series is a bit short, but I think it still piques interest in these snappy, fun books! I love the FBI angle, the new twists and turns that one always finds about as an author develops her new world more and more.
Read these books! They are just sexy, fun, engaging, and obviously well-promoted too, which never hurts. But I can honestly say that they are quite good. I am very much anticipating At Grave’s End…

I loved the first 2 books and can not wait for the new one! I love the relationship between Cat and Bones and from page one I was hooked. She took an idea and made it her own and to make it all the sweeter, she kicks butt!
The only thing better than buying the book and bringing it home, would be winning the ARC!!

Ah this is definitely my favorite of the series (so far). I like Cat so much better, shes not just killing to please her mommy and we get to know a little of Bones past. It’s a great series and (although no JK Rowling) she does a great job of leaving it open for sequels without an unbearable cliffhangar that inevitably just piss me off lol. I can’t wait till Tates changed.
Its fun and “snappy” a great light hearted read to enjoy after school or work.
Oh and this is totally not Buffy/Spike that was just screwed up Cat and Bones were made for each other, there is no one for Buffy other than Angel (we all have our favorites).

Lol @ “steamy hunk of burning vampire love”!
Jeaniene just keeps getting better and better.
I cannot recommend this series enough.
I like that your review gives us just a hint of the plot, just enough to tell readers what the book is about without spoiling anything.

I hadn’t heard there were three more under contract, just the one, very cool!
What I really liked about this book was the expanded awareness of the world at general…there’s far more to it than just vamps and she begins to expand the reader’s awareness of that while introducing many characters that draw us in even further!

Oh yes, that romp was delicious, Jackie, and besides the hot sex, shows the romance and trust building between them. I can’t wait for the next for more on the FBI plot and how it goes with them working together.

This is my favourite book so far in the series… not much of a feat I know since there is only 2 books released and one on the way.
But this book took the other book and really blew it out of the water! The pacing is 10 times smoother in the action and story arc.. particularly in Bones and Cat’s relationship - and her interactions with the team. Also Snowgirl has managed to up the ante on the sex scenes *fanning myself*.
But beyond all that Jeanienne has really come into her own in this UF genre and cemented her place as a great storyteller in the vampire genre.

I loved the end of this book, but I’m not going to spoil it for people who have not read it, but I think you all know what I”m talking about. I really liked the new found storie about Cat’s mother and what has really happoned, and I want to find out more about it in the next book.
