It is my understanding that Crimson is the last of Jordan Summer’s Dead World series. This knowledge made me wait until the last minute to read this book; I didn’t want this story to end! Red was such an original take on the werewolf mythos that I instantly became a fan. Sophie Merlo is one of the best journalists in Pittsburgh since she is able to use a rare telepathic gift of persuasion to convince humans to tell her things they otherwise never would. But Sophie meets her match when she is assigned to investigate the murders of several young women, all bearing the same, mysterious tattoo. Rather than a human cause, she finds herself in the middle of an exclusive vampire club.

Instead of just gathering the facts, however, Sophie also manages to get involved in the scoop itself, trying to corroborate the stories of two powerful vampires in the city, both of which seem likely suspects for the slayings. However, only one of them really is responsible, and both of them want to take Sophie’s blood. (more…)
