Release Overload - Brought to you by Off the Fang!

Posted under Articles, Chat, Discussions by Jackie on Monday 30 August 2010 at 1:44 am

This edition of Off the Fang brought to you by Buyer’s Remorse: wherein you are deeply saddened that you can’t give every book in the world a home. (This may lead to the over-consumption of chocolate, the direct infusion of caffeine into your bloodstream, and the gnashing of teeth.)

One of my (horrible OCDs) tasks at Bitten by Books is to compile a list of new releases (which I did anyway). This allows us (me) to make sure (prepare my wallet) we have all the new bright and shiny books for you fabulous (seriously) readers. In doing so, I’ve been concerned for (slightly pissed off at) the publishing world.

Good morning ladies and germs! I have managed to pull together another Kindle Freebie and not so Freebie list. Only the criminally insane wouldn’t check out the list below. I SLAVED over it for hours. No joke. Amazon added new free titles in the Kindle store and took a bunch away. I scoured the amazon site for some freebies and a found a few pre-order freebies, snatch those bitches lovelies right up if you are interested, they won’t stay long and they were WELL hidden, but you will find them on my list. Judging a Book by its Cover - Brought to you by Off the Fang!

Posted under Articles, Book Discussions, Chat, Discussions by Jackie on Monday 9 August 2010 at 10:40 am

This edition of Off the Fang is brought to you by my deep, dark, secret self who hides in the bookshelves and purrs in approval of naked man flesh.

I’m a total cover snob. I know, I know, “don’t judge a book by its cover,” blah blah blah, but I can’t help it. My eyes see what they like and they command my hands to scoop it up and carry it to my lair. Sometimes I’m rewarded with something beautiful. Other times I stare at my traitorous appendages and wish them bodily harm. For the most part, my cover prejudice serves me well. It’s brought me closer to the likes of Jennifer Rardin, Katie MacAlister, and Jory Strong. It also kept me away from Kim Harrison, Kresley Cole, and Meljean Brook, three of my favorite authors.

101 FREE Kindle Books…Okay 83 Free and 18 Titles Under $4.00!

Posted under Articles, Chat, Discussions, Kindle, Site News, e-books by Rachel on Monday 2 August 2010 at 8:16 pm

So, it looks like Amazon added new free titles in the Kindle store and took some away. I scoured the amazon site for some freebies. You will find them below. The biggest change is the new low pricing on the Kindle, another “addition” to the Kindle family with the inception (really it’s a deception it has been here all along, hint, it’s what we had before 3G folks) of the WiFi only Kindle for $139.00 bucks.  Also, the new Kindle 3 is launching at the end of August. What does that mean to you and I? Well, if your K2 is fine, nothing. If you want to buy one right this instant? You are SOL! AND they are sold out. (more…)

Hissing at the Light Shining from RomCon. Brought to you by Off the Fang

Posted under Articles, Chat, Site News by Jackie on Tuesday 6 July 2010 at 11:53 am

Hello, everybody. My name is Jackie and I’m a paranormal addict. {”Hello, Jackie!”} Welcome to Off the Fang, a column for readers by a reader with absolutely no ulterior motive of world domination. Ignore the large, half-naked men with guns surrounding you. As long as you read my column and leave a comment, no one will get hurt.

I love the Internet because it allows me to be a hermit and still have human contact. My friends know of my hermitic proclivities, yet they still accept me (I have the bestest friends ever. For reals). Anytime I mention willingly leaving the house, I’m met with a mix of shock, awe, and laughter. (more…)

Romantic Times 2010: A Virgin Fangirl’s Perspective Part 2

Posted under Articles, Site News by Hockeyvamp on Monday 28 June 2010 at 12:48 am

Thursday, April 29: Okay, today I decided I wanted in on the major goodies that the readers were getting instead of following the writer path, especially after getting jealous over my other roommate Ann’s ever-growing pile of books while she followed the seller/librarian route — she is a librarian in WV (Hi Ann!). So, off I went to the “Mystery Chix and Private Dix” event for breakfast, then off to a Reader event with Lora Leigh and Sylvia Day, which was fun and cool cause I got another sleep shirt to round out my collection. So, it looks like Amazon added 44 new free titles in the Kindle store, all short stories or novellas from publishers Ellora’s Cave and Cerridwen Press.  All are romance, with some degree of poonannery erotica, so be sure to read the descriptions on the Amazon page. Now before you CRY and say you don’t have an e-reader you can download (more…)
