Left Side of the Moon by Sophia Titheniel

A Pony Express rider in hostile Washington, D.C., Lachlan knows he shouldn’t stay long in this lawless city, but it’s far too cold to go any farther. Stopping at an out of the way bar to grab a nip of whiskey and fill his flask with Jack Daniel’s, he never expected to find more then liquid comfort inside. A molten silver-eyed stranger will introduce him to the primal beauty of the Dance Wars, but beyond that, Adair will introduce Lachlan to a fierce passion that Lachlan will not soon forget.

Set in a futuristic world gone to chaos, I found this story full of intriguing concepts and interesting ideas but lacking in execution. The potential was there for a really fantastic story with strong characterization; however, there was entirely too much telling and not enough showing to do that potential justice. Other than the not quite met promise of a truly unique story, by far the best element of this story was Lachlan and Adair’s erotic encounters. Well written, they contained a certain brutality that will appeal to fans of M/M BDSM.
