Nightwalker by Jocelynn Drake
Mira prefers to lead a solitary life. She is not good with authority although she is called on to perform certain duties for the Nightwalker elders. She is feared and revered among her own kind as the “Firestarter.” When Nightwalkers under her protection start turning up dead, she has to investigate. She meets Danaus, a vampire slayer for a secret organization. Mira and Danaus find that their beliefs will be turned upside down as they will have to work together to overcome a threat to the Nightwalkers and mankind alike. Will they be able to survive the threat and protect those that rely on them?
I give this book 4 1/2 tombstones. I found the story gripping and full of non-stop action. While there were hints of romance in the story, it was not overpowering to the storyline, and I had to agree with Ms. Drake’s assessment that the novel was far more an urban fantasy than a paranormal romance – which I have to say, I enjoyed. There are many unexpected twists and turns within the plot that the reader does not see coming. I really was unsure of what to expect with Nightwalkers, but I have to say, I am really glad that I added this book to my list of books read. Nightwalker is suspensful, enthralling and a definite page turner. You will have trouble putting this book down. If you’re looking for an urban fantasy that is dark, yet fascinating, then pick up Nightwalker
today. Dayhunter
, the second book in the series, is due to be released just around the corner.
Book Excerpt: “For centuries Mira has been a nightwalker—an unstoppable enforcer for a mysterious organization that manipulates earth-shaking events from the darkest shadows. But elemental mastery over fire sets her apart from others of her night-prowling breed . . . and may be all that prevents her doom.
The foe she now faces is human: the vampire hunter called Danaus, who has already destroyed so many undead. For Mira, the time has come to hunt . . . or be hunted.”

I love this series!
I had the amazing opportunity to read and review Dayhunter already from a manually bound ARC that Jocelynn sent me. Dayhunter is just as good, if not better than Nightwalker. I can NOT wait for Dawnbreaker! And I hope there will be more!
