Shifting Plains by Jean Johnson
After her father’s death, Tava Ell Var finds herself at the mercy of a plains warband. They rescue her from the fate her village is about to impose, allowing her to be the free spirit that she is and not a slave in some man’s house. The warband’s request is that she give them a year before making a decision about staying with them to learn their ways and discover how well of a fit she will be into their way of life.
Kodan Sin Siin, the Shifterai leader, knows Tava is better suited to living with the Shifterai on the plains than she ever was in her village after he discovers her secret: she’s a shape shifter. Now he just has to show her the life that awaits someone who lives on the plains and convince her that he is not interested in her only for her ability to shift and what a female shifter would bring to their clan.
Jean Johnson has outdone herself. This is a great addition to her world. Her characters are so yummy I wanted to find one of my own to snuggle up with. It is great to read more about the world she created with her Brothers stories. I did not want to put the book down.
I will definitely be sharing this story with friends and family. Ms. Johnson has a great talent for weaving a wonderful story and creating believable, loveable characters.
