Fun Facts About Friday the 13th and YOU!

1) There is an actual name for the fear of Friday the 13th: paraskevidekatriaphobics. It sounds like paranoid schizophrenic phobics. Or maybe it’s PARANORMAL schizophrenic phobics. That would make more sense seeing as how this “cursed” day is so popular with the paranormal freaks in the world.
2) One of the origins of the superstition lies in our beloved Valhalla. Loki, whose popularity has jettisoned after the success of the Thor and Avengers movies, is to blame. He crashed a banquet attended by twelve Nordic gods and orchestrates the killing of one with mistletoe, of all things.
3) Keeping with the Nordic theme – did you know Friday was named after a Nordic goddess? I’ve heard tale of it being named after both Frigg (goddess of marriage and fertility) and Freya (goddess of sex and fertility).
4) The great thing about THIS Friday the 13th is that it’s the third in the year 2012. Even better? Each Friday the 13th has been exactly 13th weeks apart. Dun dun duuuun!
5) Be glad you aren’t a Templar. On Friday, October 13, 1307, more than a hundred of them were tortured to death by King Philip IV of France. Talk about your bad luck…
6) If today is giving you the heebie-jeebies, how about this: Alfred Hitchock would have been 113 today!
