Two months have passed since To Tell of Darkness, book one in the series. Rihker is back on the job, cleaning up the Other messes in the Human world. Her house is still a halfway house for the vampire Kieran and his assorted furry and un-dead followers, by the request of the Silent Court. New powers, or Tells, keep arriving, and everyone believes she is the Chosen.
When Rihker is attacked by a crazed werewolf, things get worse. As well as embracing the light and dark within her, she now must become one with her inner beast. A wolf that calls to Jade, one of Kieran’s werewolves. Kieran is keeping his own secrets from Rihker. The Vampire who took his club is his sire and he is still tied to her. He can’t be there for Rihker when she needs him. The blood bond they share and lust is all that seems to be keeping them together.
With Darkness starting to encroach on the Light Rihker must find the ‘Book of the Way’ to gain all her Tells and put right the Other Realm. But getting the book means facing her mother and the Pixie Queen with out Kieran at her side as he is confronting his maker.
I like Rihker, she never says die, she just gets back up and keeps swinging. She also enjoys her job, maybe a little too much Very Happy. Take a big breath before you start reading Shadow Slave as that will be the last one you take until you finish, like To Tell of Darkness book one, it moves fast.
