Fire’s Ice by Brynna Curry
Arianne Farrell was paying for the actions of her sister, Briella, and had been trapped in a bubble, away from the world, for far too many years. The only thing that could save her was love, though she was certain her protector, Devin, was not the one she sought. Ari was attracted to Devin yet would not give him the satisfaction of saying those three words or of allowing him access to her body in any way outside of his dreams. Her magic was powerful, yet she remained confined based on Devin’s whims, subjected to Daemon’s Fire and the lust spell cast upon her.
Devin McLoch was loyal to family and friends, a true warrior who practiced his magic and was determined to use it to defend his own. With Ari under his protection, he tried his best to convince her to renounce her ties to the dark side and allow true love into her life. When she refused, yet again, Devin left her to focus on his own life and family, leaving Ari alone. However, the time would soon come when he would have need of her powers, and he could only pray that she would offer her assistance freely.
Fire’s Ice was truly about the magic and power of love as Ari came to terms with her pride and arrogance. Devin’s strength and loyalty for him family is admirable, and seeking out Ari’s assistance was only due to his concern about his niece and the powers that were causing her severe harm. I enjoyed watching Devin and Ari’s romance develop and loved being able to revisit the Corrigan family from earlier stories. As always, a story by Brynna Curry was an absolute delight to read.
