Hold Me If You Can by Stephanie Rowe
Nigel Aquarian and Natalie Fleming have at least one thing in common – harrowing experiences that led to a near lingering death. Natalie is saved from the bite of a chocolate-loving demon that was slowly killing her, and Nigel and his warrior brothers were saved from the clutches of a torturous witch, who is also the grandmother of Death. For both, starting life over proves to be almost a bigger challenge. The demon still craves Natalie’s chocolate-flavored blood and Nigel is haunted by his memories, special talents, and minions of the witch. They are drawn together for safety, but underlying the necessity is the passionate need for each other. Survival still hangs by a thin thread, but as long as they hang on to each other, there is hope.
Hold Me If You Can is the third book in Ms. Rowe’s steamy and humorous Soulfire series. The creative and outlandish cast of characters and the snappy writing style takes the reader on a wild ride. Ms. Rowe crosses the boundaries, throws the rules out the window and lets her imagination loose. I felt this book was the least successful of the series as it was a bit more frantically-paced, and the signature snark seemed a bit more forced. Nonetheless, it is a fun read as you plunge into interesting and hilarious world.
