Seventeen-year-old Tessa Brody was growing tired and bored while sitting at the antique book auction with her father, and she was pleased when the last lot was bid upon and they could finally load up the car and head for home. Something about the boxes bothered Tessa, and the rolled fabric tucked on top of one of the boxes was even more unnerving. As Tessa unrolled part of the fabric, she was transported from a rainy, dreary parking lot to a beautiful forest, where everything was lush and green. Before Tessa could even begin to recognize what had happened, she was snapped back to the muddy parking lot, and was left to wonder about the strange vision during the ride home.

In the safety of her room, Tessa was able to unroll the fabric and examine it more closely, and was fascinated to discover a tapestry, beautifully woven, with a gleaming white unicorn in the center. Drawn to the expression on the unicorn’s face, Tessa leans in more closely, and finding a silver thread dangling, gently tugs at it, and is startled when a handsome young man, Will, appears next to her, confused and frightened. Tessa has no explanation for the young man’s presence, except that the unicorn is missing from the tapestry. Can Will and Tessa discover how and why he was imprisoned in the tapestry, and will they be able to reweave the past before it is too late?

I loved this book! The idea behind the threads of life, binding us together and easily torn apart, from the beginning of time and continuing into infinity, is fascinating. Tessa’s courage and willingness to help Will survive in her time period is admirable, and her determination and desire to set things right, even risking her own life, is awesome. Will’s chivalry, while expected in his era, was something new and different to Tessa. This book was beautifully written, with a captivating storyline, and I enjoyed every word.
