The title of this book is Rocked by Barbara Elsborg. At first, I was curious as to the meaning and that the title might not fit, but I kept on reading. And as I finished the book, I realized that this was the perfect title because that’s what I was. It is also a play on words. This is a very – and I do mean very – erotic story. Barbara is ingenious in how she has written this. I was confused at with the structure of the story, but as I continued to read, it opened up like a flower in the sun. The main characters are introduced separately so you get to know them at different times. When each are faced with what seems to be impossible they have to overcome their fears and figure out the best way to solve the problem that affects them all. They are faced with figuring how they fit into each other’s lives. As the lines between fantasy and reality blur blending the two, these three characters must decide if they want to save what they have found together. The situations they face test their mettle and make them decide what is important to each of them. When Pepper, Alessandro, and Eli are faced with a common enemy bent on destroying one or more of them; it is up to them to decide if what they have is worth fight to a the death to protect. To give any more details would tell the story. It’s a love story at its heart, just not what the reader expects. The conflict and problems they have to deal with are universal so anyone can relate but unique enough that it catches you off guard. I give Barbara props because she has told this unusual tale with different twists that kept me reading. I wanted to figure out how she would resolve the conflicts and give these characters the ending they deserved.
I first felt the characters weren’t developed enough, but as I continued to read, I came to appreciate Barbara’s development style. Cayenne Pepper, Alessadro Paladin, and Eli Kemen as the main characters take turns giving you glimpses into themselves and allowing the reader to connect with them as they go through this time in their lives. The situations the characters encounter are believable as Rocked progresses. The reader will be able to relate as they go through the experiences with Pepper, Alessandro and Eli. The erotic scenes are stimulating and push some boundaries at times, but it creates an atmosphere that Barbara strategically uses to insert the reader into this world.
I enjoyed Rocked and recommend it to anyone. I liked the way the author challenges the reader to stay until the end to understand what’s really going on. The way Barbara writes, this is different and worked for me in the end. I could easily see Rocked as the beginning of a series and would look forward to reading the next book. If you are open to reading about different experiences, enjoy erotic tales and like a good romance give Rocked by Barbara Elsborg a try.
