Enter the Night by Maggie Berkley
Banished by her King, Morgan Crowe is forced to live among humans until her banishment has been reversed — or until the Queen that despises her meets an ill ending, whichever comes first. However, when her King perishes mysteriously, Morgan is sent on the run. Chased and confronted by a number of enemies, she is lured into the arms of one she thinks she can trust. But can she? In a world that is in upheaval, nothing is ever what it seems. Deception and betrayal lie around every corner and if you are not careful, it will catch you in its grip.
Morgan Crowe just cannot catch a break in this novel. Just when she thinks she knows what is coming next, she gets blindsided by yet another betrayal. However, the way she manages to hold herself together while enduring all that is thrown at her is more than just admirable, it is quite impressive. She does her best to keep her sense of humor and to keep to as normal a life as a faery assassin can have. She is tough as nails and the kind of heroine you can stand behind. I really liked Morgan from the start and hope that she can find the happily ever after she so sorely needs.
Malachi is the kind of guy you love to hate and hate to love, but you cannot help yourself. He is charming, handsome, and a were. He is also a conundrum wrapped in a man’s shell. I did not care much for Malachi in the beginning, but the farther you get into the story, the more you get to know what is going on with him and why he is doing what he is. The more you understand the situation he is in, the more sympathy you have for him. Once he begins to let you into his head and you discover just how conflicted he is, you really start to like him. By the end, I really was torn, wanting him to be the right guy for Morgan, but still unsure.
Enter the Night is an action-packed trek through both the human and fae worlds. Danger lurks around every corner and Morgan just keeps barreling around them, running headlong into whatever awaits her. Come join her as she discovers the truth about who she can trust – and whom she cannot. An exciting and passionate story, Enter the Night will leave your heart pounding in more ways than one.
