Author Sunny Release Party and $100 Amazon Gift Card Contest
PLEASE NOTE: The contest portion of the Sunny event is now closed. The winners will be chosen at a later date and contacted via email.
Hi everyone! Welcome to my Release Party/Author Chat hosted here in honor of my new Monère novel, Mona Lisa Eclipsing, coming out next week on April 5th. Also to launch my eSpecial novella of Mona Lisa Three, which will be out in 3 days, on March 31st. Please note that the contest runs from 3/28 – 4/1/11, instead of only being for one day as I mistakenly announced in my newsletter.
The novella, as you can tell from the title, features Mona Lisa’s first unexpected ménage with Gryphon and Amber. You can read the first 2 chapters at http://www.sunnyauthor.com to get a taste
What to write about? I’ll put out some general things about myself and leave it to you to ask me more questions when you post a comment if you want to know something specific, or you can throw in something about yourself.
Favorite book: The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I just luv this book! Cannot say enough about it.
Print or eBook: I used to be a die-hard print reader up until about a year ago. My husband bought me a Kindle but I only read like 8 books on that. Convenient when I traveled: I downloaded something after boarding an airplane, but I don’t travel that often. I did more eReading on my computer because it has a brighter screen. But I just got an iPhone 4, the Verizon model, and now read eBooks mostly off that. It has a small but bright screen, without the computer’s drawback of EMF radiation when I flip the iPhone into Airplane mode, which turns off the Wi-Fi and cellular signal. Sweet, huh?
Favorite food: Japanese – sushi, need I say more? And Thai – addicted to Pad Thai and Thai Ice coffee, which actually gives me palpitations, so the drink is a rare treat for me, like in once a year.
Best friend: My hubby. My main squeeze and main support.
Exercise: Not enough. Bicycle riding when I get the chance.
Car: Looking into buying a 2011 Chevy Cruze LTZ with the RS appearance package. Wanted a spiffy small car with snazzy looks but definitely has to have good gas mileage. The Cruze gets 36 highway/24 city, which I’m pretty blown away by. I only get 20 miles per gallon on average on my current car, a Honda CRV. If you guys can recommend anything better, do let me know!
Well, that hits a lot of broad but hopefully interesting areas. Now I’ll turn it over to you.
Questions for Readers:
1. Where is your favorite place to buy books?
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook?
3. How do you choose new authors to read?

Hello Sunny,
~The Reading Rock located in downtown Dickson, TN is proving to be a good place to put in my monthly book buys.
~After Kindle Pock decide to freeze on me, print is a 100 times better also I also noticed that Amazon is starting to charge for sales tax on the ebooks.
~Actually this is kind of odd, I actively seek out new authors and new series.
Do you have any planned appearance in the near future?

Hi Ruth,
No planned appearances. I hit RT and RWA for several years, but have been more of a home bird the last couple of years, using the Internet for online events.
I actively seek out new authors and series, too. My best source is via Amazon.com
Danielle Monsch from the USA.
Hi there!
Congrats on your newest release, that’s awesome!
My question (though you’ve probably gotten it a million times,so sorry!) What drew you to writing paranormal vs. other genres?
Hi Danielle,
Why paranormal? Because that was the story concept my husband and I came up with that intrigued me most. I intended to write a romance. That it was paranormal was incidental
Hi Sunny! Thanks for being here!
Reader questions:
1. Used book stores and library sales! I’m a sucker for a bargain and I think it’s important to support my local used bookstores.
2. I guess I prefer print, but ebooks have been growing on me lately.
3. I read reviews and blurbs on Amazon and Goodreads.
I’d love to know…
How did you get started writing?
Do you have any pets?
What’s your favorite TV show?
What inspires your writing?

Hi Lesley,
I first started writing at age 16 or 17. Wrote a short romance that was totally awful and pretty much felt I would never have the talent to write a book that I would enjoy reading. Took 20 more years of maturity, a 4-day screen writing conference that taught me the nuts-and-bolts of how to write a story, and real get-off-your-ass motivation before I finally finished my first manuscript.
No pets, unless you count my 2 children
Favorite TV shows are The Mentalist, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-O, and the Vampire Diaries.
The main concept or idea is what inspires my writing. Then the opening scene.
Where is your favorite place to buy books?i love to buy from borders …they have large selections and good customer service
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook?i am a prints girl….i dont mind ebooks but i have a tendencies to drop things lol
3. How do you choose new authors to read?i go on the internet a lot so i m always reading excerpt and previews and if a book sounds good i read it and if i enjoy it then i buy more from that author and the cycle goes on …thats how i stared the mona lisa series when i read over the moon ……
i got a question for sunny i wanted to know will she ever get pregnant again?
and if she does who will be the father?
do u plan on bringing in more men into her life?
and last q will Blaec get his own book or be mentioned in the books more? cause i absolutely love him …so thanks and i hope i did what i was supposed to do lol
Hi Susie,
Not sure about Mona Lisa having a baby. The biggest dilemma would be, who would her father be?

1)I buy 99% of my books from Amzon.com 2) I definately prefer a book always have 3) I sometimes choose new authors if my daughters suggest plus I have alot of FB Author friends and if they happen to mention a book that they liked or read I check it out or if I happen to be in a book store I check out the shelves
Hi Denise,
I look to browse bookstores and cruise the Amazon.com bestseller listings.
I buy most of my books either from Amazon or used book stores.
I like ebooks mainly because I’ve run out of room for paper books. Plus If I buy new ebboks my boyfriend doesn’t see a new stack of books to complain about.
I usualy find new authors by checking out reviews on blog sites. But I’ll also pick something up in the bookstore if it catches my eye and looks interesting.

Hi! This is for the first 4 questions.
No planned appearances. I hit RT and RWA for several years, but have been more of a home bird the last couple of years, using the Internet for online events.
Why paranormal? Because that was the story concept my husband and I came up with that intrigued me most.

Not sure about Mona Lisa having a baby. The biggest dilemma would be, who would her father be?
More men in Mona Lisa’s life? Not sure about that either, LOL. As you will see at the end of my new book, MONA LISA ECLIPSING, new possibilities are going to open up in their society as they “come out” into the world. May feature more former rogues but maybe not as new lovers.
Blaec may get a novella or I may write more about him in one of the future Monere books.
For questions 5-11:
No particular erotic theme I stay away from other than gratuitous sex. I’m more into the emotional ties of sex. If an idea comes to me for a love scene that grabs my imagination, that’s what I write. I haven’t tried male on male yet, and would not be adverse to doing that with the right characters. Joey W. Hill and Suzanne Brockmann, I feel, does those the best.
I like to buy my books mostly in discount stores so I can afford more of them.
I have an eReader which I use mainly for free eBook downloads. But I can’t imagine living without real paper books.
I read reviews and talk to friends about new authors and books. I am also attracted to great book covers when I see them.

Joni, I’ve been a book hoarder for the last 20 years, collecting books from my favorite authors to re-read. But I gotta admit, having access to books on a hand-held iPhone is much more convenient
Hi Sunny!!! Congrats and I can’t wait to read your Mona Lisa Eclipsing. I think it’s really neat your husband worked with you on the story. What are some of your favorite romance titles/authors that got you interested in this genre?
I followed over Jayne Ann Krentz when she wrote under the pseudonym Jayne Castle. Same for Iris Johansen and other authors like her.
Hi Sunny -
1. Amazon is my favorite place to buy books since my local bookstores are terrible at having new releases in stock.

Where did your idea for your first book come from? During a 1-1/2 hour drive with the entire family. “Children of the Moon” was one of the several interesting ideas/concepts my DH and I came up with.
How do you choose names for all your characters? Looking through the Internet, or making them up, or leafing through “The Great Big Book of Baby Names” and choosing one of the variations found in other countries of a typical name.
Do you always know how a book will end when you start writing it? No, that’s the fun part. I build the general world and society, do a basic flesh-out of several characters, imagine the first scene, and go from there. The ending is as much of a surprise to me as to you
Do you get emotionally involved with your characters? Yes, definitely. Most of them, like Amber and Halcyon, really came alive as I write. The more time you spend with them in your mind and putting the down on paper, the more they grow and take on a life of their own.

How many more books do you see in your Monere series? LOL, I was going to stop at MONA LISA DARKENING, but 2 fans and 1 author I met during a writing conference — and whom I dedicated ECLIPSING to — motivated me to continue writing this series. Not sure how many more in the series. A couple more, at least.
Hi Sunny,
I have waited forever for this book. Somewhere I had heard a rumor that you weren’t going to continue this series. I am so glad to see it isn’t true. Will this be the last or will Mona & company have further adventures?
1. Where is your favorite place to buy books? Anywhere I can find them. Books a million, Barnes & Noble, Online. We don’t have a local bookstore.
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook? I prefer print but have been gravitating toward ebooks for years because I can adjust the font.
3. How do you choose new authors to read? Covers, Genre, recommendations (although to be honest it is usually me telling my friends about an awsome new author or book).
Congratulations on the new release. Hope to read a lot more from you.
I rsvp’d etc.

Hi Donna,
Thank you for so patiently waiting. The rumor was true. I was going to stop at MONA LISA DARKENING, but 2 fans and 1 author I met during a writing conference
Sunny–HOLY COW!! you replied to me!!! I feel so honored! I mean, i know that’s the point of this whole thing today but it still feels pretty amazing that someone of your stature would respond to me! yay!
another question: When people get your books from the library, how do you get paid for those? I feel awful that I’m not purchasing some books and I think, “how do the authors get paid if people only check out books?”…… SO i was curious on that. I buy books if my library won’t carry it or if there’s a Major wait and I can’t wait for the book–i need the BOOK!…. Also, if i’m in the mall, and i walk by a bookstore, i MUST stop and buy (kinda like a woman with a shoe fetish). SO i DO purchase books, but more often than not, i check out from the library.
if you can’t answer this question, i understand, i just have always wondered….
(this is the second set of questions i’ve asked on here)
Anissa, I’m just like you. I used to use my library so much, it was almost abuse
But libraries pay for that copy of my book they acquire for their library and we get a royalty percentage of that sale, ranging from 7.5 to 15% or thereabouts, depending on if its mass market, trade paperback, or hardcover.
also–is it a requirement to post what i’ve done in order to get points, show the points, and then add them up for you?
i’m new to this and I’m seeing a bunch of people do that. I don’t want to do it if it’s not necessary….I’m not a follower unless it’s necessary
If you can list your total points so far, that would help the organizer very much, and ensure you have your full tally of points.
HI
My question for you would be, which book of all the books ever written do you wish you had written?
Oh questions for us.
1. Online, bookdepo..even if I make a friend order since I have no card
2. Print since I am yet to buy an e-reader, there are so few here, they suck and are expensive
3. I read reviews
Blodeuedd A
Finland
I read some great books, like Little Women, Gone with the Wind, Call of the Wild, and such. But the book I wish I’d most written is The Host by Stephanie Meyers. That story, and her writing, simply blew me away. Amazingly deft weaving of that world, and even more, of emotions!
I see that the contest is closed, but I still wanted to get my 2 cents in!
In response to your questions I will buy a book anywhere. I much prefer to read a “real live” book but have started wanting a kindle *blushes* I read like it’s going out of style, and generally pick my books in many ways. I am a part of a book club, I see books on the internet, people recommend them, and ACK sometimes I pick them by the picture on the cover…:)
or I guess the contest isn’t over? Anyway running over to your website to check out these amazing looking books, I’m diggin’ the covers lol!
Sorry, the misinformation was my mistake. I thought it was only for today, but just found out the contest is running until Friday. My wish list for an eReader now is an iPad. That is the best reading experience. Simply blows the Kindle away…no comparison.
Where do I buy books? It used to be independent bookstores, but now I live out in the country (in CT, USA). The closest store is almost 45 minutes away. My husband I and used to have dates in bookstores — cheap ones, because we were young and poor, and would browse for hours.
I buy almost only ebooks now. When we moved homes, we downscaled, and I gave away about 47 boxes of books to our library for their book sale. We then moved somewhere between 120-140 boxes of books. There are still about 64 boxes in the garage, with no more shelf space. No more wall space, either, for shelves. So to buy a print book, it has to be print only, and I really have to want it!
I use physical bookstores to browse new authors. Otherwise, I go by recommendations. I read “Smart Bitches, Trashy Books” and “Dear Author” pretty faithfully. What I wish I had: friends who could share my tastes and recommendations.
I have enjoyed both Mona Lisa and Lucinda. Do you find you base your heroines, or any characters, on people you know? Or is it all out of your imagination?
Elizabeth K
(RSVP Elizabeth84)
Elizabeth, that is so sweet about you and your husband formerly dating at bookstores. Thank you for sharing that! My DH and I are heavy readers also.
Giving to the library! That’s a good suggestion for my books, which have sadly become obsolete now for me since I switched to digital reading.
LOL, you are WORSE that me. 250 boxes of books!!! Golly gee, honey…
“What I wish I had: friends who could share my tastes and recommendations.” Ditto, for me, too. I’m the ONLY one in my circle of family, friends, and work who reads romances or paranormals.
“I have enjoyed both Mona Lisa and Lucinda. Do you find you base your heroines, or any characters, on people you know? Or is it all out of your imagination?” All from my imagination, with a little bit of myself thrown into each character, good or bad
I would fall over flat to have this …truly drop flat (splat)! I LOVE the books…they are good re-reads. I don’t have an e-reader, so I have paperbacks & hardbacks…hmmmm…maybe buy an Kindle with the first place prize LOL! But I want the books too! Decisions. I buy most of My books from a store called “Books By the Bay”, the rest from Amazon. I find new authors through Twitter and a site called Fantastic Fiction.

Hi Sunny! Thanks for chatting with us! I will definitely be adding your book to my to-read list.
To answer your questions:
1. Where is your favorite place to buy books? It used to be the Borders in my neighborhood, but it closed at the end of December. Now, i tend to stick with Amazon.com. I miss my Borders and the people who worked there.
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook? I love the feel of a book in my hands and it just works better for me.
3. How do you choose new authors to read? Blogs that I respect like this one or through Amazon’s recommendations for me page. Or just randomly picking things up.
Questions for you:
Did you ever have an A-Ha moment as a writer where you knew this was what you were going to do? And as both a writer and reader, what things attract you to a character?

(Did you ever have an A-Ha moment as a writer where you knew this was what you were going to do?) Yes, the moment I finished writing my first manuscript, which happened to be Mona Lisa Awakening. It was like, “I did it. I actually really did it! I wrote a book!”
(And as both a writer and reader, what things attract you to a character?) For me, reading a story is about the emotion the characters invoke in me, so they have to be innately good, strong, generous and kind. With lots of love to give once they open up.

I get books anywhere i can – eBay, B&N, Goodwill, used bookstore, BAM and more. I read a lot of print and Nook books. I have so many authors i like to read it’s hard to pick one.
Sunny – I wrote you a few years ago and asked if you were continuing on in the Mona Lisa series and you said no. I’m glad you changed your mind. I’m looking forward to reading it, I already have it pre-ordered.
Q: What’s you’re favorite kind of music to listen to?
Q: Do you listen to something different when writing?
Q: What was the last concert you went to?
You guys changed my mind! Fav music is Gypsy King, Flamenco, & Latin Instrumental. Nothing when writing, just peace and quiet. Never went to a concert in my young and wild days. No interest now…LOL, I’d wear earplugs to dampen the loud noise if I ever went to such an event. Prefer Broadway.
My favorite place to buy books is at Barnes & Noble then Amazon online. I prefer print books over ebooks…I like the feel of a book in my hand. I pick new authors mostly due to the blurbs I read on the books. Also my friends recommendations are usually good.

Hi Sunny,
Looking forward to reading your books, I ordered them from Amazon. Here are the answers to your questions:
1. I usually buy my books from Amazon. It is much easier for me that way.
2. Over the past two years I’ve exclusively read eBooks. I use Kindle for iPhone, iPad and on my MacBook. I also use B&N’s eReader and iBook, too. I LOVE ebooks. I don’t have the space to store all the paperbacks and hardbacks I also own!
3. I, of course, learn about authors from Bitten By Books but also, Good Reads and various other blogs. I also subscribe to a lot of newsletters that discuss new releases.
Q for you:
4. What author or authors inspired you to write in this particular genre? I have loved sci/fantasy/paranormal ever since I was a kid and was introduced to the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe and the Lord of the Rings series.
1. Beth M.-USA
2. Answered the author
Oh–the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe was a particular favorite of mine also. Authors in this genre that inspired me: Anne McCaffrey, Anne Bishop, Laurell K. Hamilton, Christine Feehan, and the like.
Firstly I have to tell you that I love this series! I actually held off on reading Darkening so that when this one came out I would feel like I wouldn’t feel like killing myself when I finished reading one. I know. I’m weird. But there it is. So, can’t wait to read Eclipsing!
Favorite place to buy books? Well I live across the street from a bookstore, Joseph-Beth. So I go there probably more than I should!
Even though I do have an e-reader now, I still love my print books. Don’t get me wrong, I love my e-reader too, but I think I always will love print books a little bit more.
I find new authors everywhere, so sayeth my overflowing TBR list! I get a lot from this website. I swear my list has doubled since I started coming here. I get some from recommendations from other authors. Also I do go by endorsements on other books from other authors that I like. I get by recommendations from other people whose tastes are similar to mine. Then sometimes I’ll simply pick something up and try it from the description. I’m also at the library a lot trying new things. So yeah, pretty much everywhere.
I really enjoy the novellas. Do you have any plans to do any others? Or any other books based in the same world, but focused on other characters?
Thanks!

Congrast on the upcoming release and thanks for coming to hang out with us today!!
1. Where is your favorite place to buy books?
Really depends on how fast I have to have it… Amazon is usually my default as the prices tend to be better and I do have a Kindle as well (gotta love that instant gratification thing).
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook?
I love both… nothing like the feel of a real book in your hands. However, I love being able to go from my computer at work, to my cell phone to my Kindle at home and never having to ‘search’ for the page I’m on. Nor do I have to worry about forgetting my book at one place or the other.
3. How do you choose new authors to read?
Oh geez… book reviews, books on display in the stores, author newsletters, word of mouth, pretty much any method of getting a book in front of me is likely to get me to buy it!

Hi Sunny,
Congrats on the new releases, it seems like we’ve been waiting forever! I used to love Waldenbooks/borders but getting harder to find bricks/mortar stores. Tend to use Amazon now. Prefer print…just something about being able to flip back and forth that’s important. Choose new authors from reviews such as Night Owl Romance, interesting excerpts or word of mouth or browsing at the library. Thanks for chatting and good luck with the new release!
The closest bookstore to me is about an hour away so I really use Amazon most of the time. Plus pre-ordering on amazon is easy and I get the book really fast so Amazon is my favorite. I also enjoy going to bookstaores and browsing when I get a chance.
I don’t have an e-reader yet but I am planning on getting one sometime this year. I think I prefer print because I do not have to worry about being clumsy and dropping an expensive piece of equipment.
When I am looking at new authors to read I ask friends for recs and I will go to Amazon and see what they reccomend. If I am at a bookstore then I will just sit and look at new (to me) authors.

I’ve heard such good things about the host. I should read it. Yours is just another tally to add to the “I loved it column”!
1. I usually go to Walmart or Target to but my books. They’re usually cheapest their. However, if I’m looking for an Older book then I buy from Barnes & Noble.
2. I like reading books but I just got a Nook so I find myself reading from that a lot lately.
3.A lot of times I hear about new authors through blogs. I chose whether to read them or not based on reviews of their books.

1. Where is my favorite place to buy books? Amazon. Since there are no bookstores close and definitely no used book stores, Amazon is my go to place. I do online surveys and such to earn gift certificates since my budget has no room for books. I like that shipping is free on orders of $25 or more and I like that often I can find used books with free shipping. Now that I have a Kindle too, I like getting cheap books with no tax or shipping.
2. Print or ebook? I like both. They both have certain bonuses and each one is good for certain things. I like that I can find cheap books at Goodwill or garage sales in print but also that I can find cheap books or cool new authors for Kindle.
3. How do I find new authors? All sorts of ways. I read the tor.com blog daily and I usually get a million suggestions from there. I also check out what books were purchased on Amazon by people who purchased books I like. I read other author blogs and they suggest others too. I keep a huge list of books ‘to read’ and categorize them by whether they are out of print, available at my library or on sale at Amazon or available in ebook. I’ve got over 200 titles there and the list ebbs and flows as I read books and add more to it.
Question for Sunny – there are very few authors out there who use one name. What made you do this and did you have any trouble with your publisher over it?

+5 3. How do you choose new authors to read? I try new authors ll the time as long as it’s in a genre I love I try anybosy. I swear I have to now too, Because while I use to be into paranormal I’m more into contemporary now and Lots of my favorite authora are switching to paranormal. Bad timing on my part.

Questions for Readers:
Other times, though, a book jacket will catch my eye, or a review in PW or assorted periodicals, or a friend will recommend them. BBB has introduced me to a ton of new authors, as well, and I’ve met some great folks through places like Pocket After Dark.
1. Where is your favorite place to buy books? I’m a B&N girl.
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook? It’s a mix. I’m only buying e-books these days, but I read a lot of print in ARCs (for reviews) and from my library.
3. How do you choose new authors to read? Often they’re sent to me as review books or on a prize jury, so I encounter new authors via assignments.

Love the books! I love to shop and brouse at Borders and Barnes and Noble. Both places have some of your books but not all. Love the printed books not a fan of ebooks. Choosing the new author has a lot to do with what the book is about and the heroine has to have a kick butt attitude, no wishy washy main character!
Hi there! I haven’t read your books yet, but they do sound good. I have put them in my wish list at amazon. To answer your questions, my favoite place to buy books is amazon. Second place is Barnes & Noble and Borders. I have both close to my house, and my husband and I visit there pretty often. I have a kindle, and since getting it I read mostly ebooks. I do pick up a paperback once in a while, or if a writer I follow has a a new book out in hardback, I do buy it so I can have the whole set in hardback. I choose new writers based on reviews I get from BBB, or amazon, or while I’m in a local book store I make a note of what I like, and then I might come home and order it on amazon in ebook form. If a cover catches my eye, I’ll read the back, if it’s interesting it’s mine. Word of mouth from friends. Ohhh, I also buy used books from my local library when they have sales, and a local used store. I’ve also donated quite a lot of books to the library after getting my kindle.
Are any of your books available in audio at all? Do you listen to audiobooks? How do you feel about them? Congrats on the new book, and I will def be checking them out.

1. Where is your favorite place to buy books?
It’s probably awful of me but I am an Amazon.com junkie. I buy most of my books there because a) I don’t drive so having books delivered in batches always helped me keep up and b) I now have a Kindle.
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook?
While ebooks have grown on me and are actually the format I intend to stick to from here on out, I still love the feel and smell of a paper book. It’s like the difference between a B.O.B. and a real guy.
3. How do you choose new authors to read?
I am more of a premise lover. If a premise (blurb) appeals to me I will check it out. But since becoming a blogger I am often made aware of so many it’s hard to keep up with my old favorites and the new ones.

The only exposure I’ve had to your writing was in anthologies and I have to giggle a little because I do believe the first one I read was the first time I’d read *ahem* backdoor love. *blushing to death here* So my question is this… are there any big challenges to writing the love scenes?

I don’t have an ereader so I guess I can’t really qualify, but I do love books, the cover, looking at the author, and stacks all over the place.
I kinda do homework when it comes to a new author. I go to their website and check them out. Read excerpts and so on, very few have disappointed me, and I’m sure it’s just me, they are probably very talented, I’m just not turned on enough.

Hello Sunny!
I love your Monere world and the characters. If I could, I’d love to be Monere or Chanku.
I’m so happy you are continuing the series a bit longer. There are some loose ends!
I’ve always wondered if you were concerned about making Amber a sympathetic character after his introduction? The leap he took in roles in the first book was pretty grand. (No pun intended!)
To answer to questions:
1. I am definitely a library gal. My favorite place to buy books is from the shelf where people donate books. They range in price from 25 cents to a dollar, so I can get something often for me and my daughter.
2. Print. I can’t tolerate the screens too much, but am intrigued by e-readers. However, there is something to reassuring about holding a book before I go to sleep.
3. New authors… I usually find them on Shelfari or by recs from friends. And Twitter. My daughter also is good at randomly handing me a book at the library and it being great. (She’s 3!)
Thank you!

In a bookstore – most of my books come from Steimatzky’s (a bookstore chain in Israel), some from Borders or Barnes and Noble or Chapters (Canada) when I am in the US, many I get through Bookmooch and when I am desperate for a certain title I order from Amazon.

I usually prefer to buy my books at street stores–Barnes & Noble being my latest because so many independent stores are disappearing.
I truly prefer a real book but use a kindle for all medical and dental appointments because they do keep you waiting.
I find new authors from reviews, newsletters, Book Page and similar publications whose names escape me, recommendations from other authors and personal friends, mentions inside the back of paperbacks, and great librarians. In a bookstore I will just see a book and in the back of my mind it will say “buy me” and my instincts usually don’t fail me. I read a lot!!!
Hi,
1) I buy my books mostly online, and my favorite seller would be The Book Depository because they often have the best prices.
2) Print, definitely. I love the feel and look of a real book in my hands.
3) I visit quite a lot of book review blogs, and usually get attracted to books with nice cover that also have a plot that might interest me and many positive reviews. Although reviews don’t influence my decision to check out a book much.
I’d like to ask:
What is your favorite childhood book?
Do you have a favorite author?
Thanks!

2. 1. I will buy books anyplace I find them. I have spent more time at Barnes & Noble book stores than others, but Books-A-Million seems to have more of an in store selection when I have been there. I don’t know if that is system wide or just our local stores. +5
2. I like print books. I have been looking into an e-reader because our house is so overrun with books. It would be nice to take a single e-reader when we travel rather than a box of books. We don’t fly often but print books get heavy very fast. +5
3. I am a browser. I’ll read the blurbs on the covers to help decide. I also follow many blogs (something I started when I was ordering books at our library) to check reviews and author interviews. +5
4. Cars: I may need a new one in a bit and am having trouble deciding what to go with. My 2000 Saturn LS has 238,000 miles on it. Sunny I love your Mona Lisa series and each book brings something more fantastic to the series! I can’t wait to get a hold of this next book.
I hate myself… I refreshed in the middle of typing @.@
1. Bookstores–they’re a great place to hang out and potato it out (WHOO BORDERS!)
2. Hardcore print girl all the way!
3. I actually love author recommendations as well as the back of their books when the publishes puts some ads in too. Haha. Anthologies are great too to see if the author’s writing style will suit. My friends have recommended me books before based off of the genre I liked and although the story is great, the writing style drove me batty!
As for car recommendations, it depends if you’re looking only for a gas efficient car, in that case, as much as I LOATHE it, the Prius seems to be the best buy. But if you’re looking for decent gas as well as driving and overall look of the car, I love Acura cars. Do you have a particular preference in style or look that can narrow down your choices? I guess it’s a good question to also ask is its going to be an errand car, in which you’ll want 4 doors.
I’m also curious if you’ll be planning or willing to do an anthology in the near future. Like I said, these suckers are great!
Was the final cover what you had imagined when you were writing the book? Did it fit with the overall feel?
Thanks so much!

1. Where is your favorite place to buy books?
~~My favorite is in a bookstore when I can get there, but tend to shop with my favorite indie bookshops.
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook?
~~I still hold fast to my print books, but will likely buy a Nook at some point. I can see the convenience, but I would miss the ability to get my books signed and I do like seeing book stacks all over the house, it’s cozy.
3. How do you choose new authors to read?
~~I go with ‘trusted agents’ like BittenByBooks, NoMoreGrumpyBookseller, Amberkatze, and other blogs who review and interview. If an author I already like suggests an author to try, the name and first book written goes on the Wanton Wantin’ Book List (WWBL)

Where is my favorite place to buy books? My large book orders are done online through Barnes and Noble or Bigger Books.
Which do I prefer, print or eBook? Definately print. I don’t currently own and ereader and don’t like to be tied to my computer to read an ebook.
How do I choose new authors to read? Book covers are a big draw to me. It I see something that catches my eye I’ll read the back. If it’s something I might like, then I buy it. If I really like it I will print out the authors books list and start reading them from book 1.

I was wondering, who’s YOUR fave author?
Answers to questions:
1. My fave place to buy books is actually the Book Depository. They have a great selection, great prices and great service. You seriously get your money’s worth there!
2. I prefer my books in PRINT. I do read ebooks too, but nothing beats being able to hold an actual book in your hands =)
3. I choose new authors mainly by their stories. If one of their books sounds good, and I read it an enjoy it, I’m more likely to try other stuff of theirs!

Hi Sunny. Thanks so much for joining us here at BBB.
My favorite place to buy books is in a bookstore, a chain or a small independent, though I do also buys lots online. I enjoy being able to look at a book and its physical properties before I decide to buy it.
I do have an e-reader, which at this point I use only for some of the books I review, but I do much prefer print books. The e-reader does have the advantage of the uniform print, but I still want and the love the feel of a book.
I decide what t buy based upon reading a synopsis of a book, and sometimes reviews. I typically like to look at them.
Sunny, what kinds of things do you like to do for relaxation?
And by the way, I loved The Host, also.

Hi Sunny!
- We just moved from Colorado to Guam (I know, quite different right? Hubby is Air Force, so they said, “Jump” and we said, “How far?” lol) and there is only one small, mainstream bookstore in the Hagatna Outlet Mall. The selection is not so awesome. In Colorado though, my favorite place to go was a Hastings in Canon City. They always had a diverse selection of Romance and Sci-Fi, so I was a happy camper. Thankfully, my hubby gifted me with a Kindle for Christmas too and I love it! It has had a huge, positive impact on the selection I have available out here in the jungle.
ut
-Speaking of which, I believe I prefer my Kindle nowadays for how light and slim it is. I’ll always have a place in my heart for my prints, but when I try to hold a particularly heavy book up, my hands have trouble, so the Kindle is a big relief for me physically and in terms of selection. Also, the digital ink is easier on my eyes!
- I try out new authors based on the recommendations of my current favorite authors on their websites. It makes a difference when I can read an excerpt and get drawn in. The few times I haven’t taken the time to do this is when I end up disappointed because I don’t feel attached to the characters or feel like the dialogue is believable. Plus, the sex matters. It’s got to be delicious and the scenes have to be lengthy without being repetitive. Original, explicit scenes really do make all the difference for me. They go hand in hand with a good plot.
I’ve been a loyal fan of yours for quite some time Sunny. Thank you for the rich tales! I’m so excited to read the new installment:) Have a good one!

2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook? Until about 3 months ago I would ahve said print without a doubt, but since then I discovered some things to consider.
1) Reading ebooks is more comfortable, and I like the reassurance that once I finish a book I can start a new one instantly (previously if that happened witha print book, I had to wait until I got home to choose another print book to tag along in my bag)
2) I love using the built in dictionary to look up things (wikipedia is also awesome!)
3) and my favourite feature: that I’m able to highlight quotes and makes notes in the book! I never touched my print book even with a pencil!

Here are the answers to your questions.
1. Where is your favorite place to buy books? I usually shop at Joseph Beth here in Lexington, KY or Amamzon
2. Which do you prefer, print or eBook? I like print better. I love books.
3. How do you choose new authors to read? Sometimes I choose them by recommendation from others, the covers, sometimes I search a genre and pick out ones I like. Your books actually came up as a recommendation from things I had bought on amazon and I ordered the four Mona Lisa books and Two Lucinda books and devoured them. They are among some of my faves.
I am so glad that you are having this event. I love your books and can not wait to read this one. I was wondering. what are you reading at the moment or most recently? I am also looking for new books to read.

Hi Sunny!
I love both of your series and was sad that you have no plans *as yet* to continue Lucinda’s story as I really love her character and would love to read more! I buy books just anywhere I can get them and I am firmly in the print, love my books and I have quite a collection! I do alot of research looking for new authors on blogs and amazon…have found great books that way! I wish that there were more hours in a day to fit more reading in, but I am as busy as a one legged cat with 500 hundred fleas, so I don’t get to read as much as I’d like! lmao!
I believe that the highest complement you can pay an author is that you can hear, see, taste, and feel all that the characters experience and you can do that for me! My question for you is where in the world would you live, anywhere, and money wasn’t a problem? Your stories are so rich with world building, that it made me wonder where you would see yourself!
