Chana Rafiz was pissed. She was sick of having to give up her dreams because a man her mother had only been married to for two years thought she was his property. George needed her to act as his hostess, to wine and dine the injured footballer from the team he had recently bought and because he had given her so much over the years since her mother died she really could not say no to him. With her diabetes she needed to have someone to fall back on if things did not work out. George had always been there for her, so how could she not agree to his request?
Josh Friedland did not know what to expect from the new owner of the football club who offered him a place in his own home to recover from the season-ending injury, but it would get him closer to where his brother had disappeared and give him a chance to search for him. His need for healing time was all a ruse because of his Talented nature, but he was not about to let anyone discover his secret. He needed to find Laurie and soon. His suspicions that his boss had something to do with it was an added bonus as was his sexy step-daughter.
Getting close, Chana and Josh soon found that they have more in common than they ever expected. They were both the same inside and out, and Chana’s medical condition had everything to do with that connection. Awakening a dormant part of her, Chana soon found out more truths to her past and the man behind the deception, but would their knowledge be enough to stop the inevitable?
A very interesting world is created in this book. The connection of the characters, the different versions of your normal paranormal species is twisted in a very captivating escape. Josh is a Talent who is searching for answers about his brother, but on the way to exposing Skeffington for what he is, he finds a true mate that he never thought to find. Chana’s life has been dominated by her step-father for years, every step towards independence thwarted before she could spread her wings and fly on her own. In her case this is quite literal because of his machinations. The evil Skeffington gets off too easily in my opinion. He should have had to suffer more for his interference in Chana’s and Josh’s lives, and others, as well.
The small threads left hanging only intrigue me more, making me want to find out what is going to happen in their lives and how they will interact into future stories. I have not had the opportunity to read the previous books in this series but am very interested in exploring this world further.
