Storm of Reckoning By Doranna Durgin

Lisa McGarrity, reckoner and ghost hunter, was on a mission to Sedona, to help the friend of one of her teammates. Her senses immediately told her there was something different, something not quite right about the spiritual energies haunting this place, and she was correct. Dark energy spewed forth, and Garrie was grateful that Trevarr was once again by her side.

Trevarr, a bounty hunter from another world, and Sklayne, his not-cat familiar, had sworn to protect Garrie, and the Sedona mission turned out to be a dangerous one. Teammates Lucia and Quinn were using their skills to discover what was taking over the positive energy, while Garrie scanned for ghosts and Trevarr stayed close to her side, armed with numerous implements of destruction. None of them had any idea of the negative energies they would be forced to reckon with before the cleansing could occur.

This was an interesting and exciting book, filled with many battles between good and evil. Garrie and her team are definitely fighting for the good, while the evil seemed to grow and grow, threatening to become all-encompassing and almost separating the team forever. I enjoyed Sklayne’s not-cat viewpoint: if he could not eat it or play with it, it was not worth his time, and he could eat the most amazing things! The team’s loyalty to Garrie was amazing and inspiring, and Trevarr’s single-mindedness in protecting “the Garrie person,” as Sklayne thought, was awesome. This book has danger and treachery, spirits and dark energies, and otherworldly characters that are fighting for the good of our world, and I was fascinated throughout.
