Transylvania, Louisiana by Evelyn Smith
The abused innocent don’t always lay down and die…sometimes they find bigger and meaner friends and become the undead. Just ask Billy; he learned this the hard way. While hitchhiking one night, he gets picked up by a mysterious man in a black Mustang and watches as his life is changed forever. After being bitten and dumped on the edge of the forest, he’s left for dead. Too bad Billy had no inclination to die quite yet.
After the death of his mother, Billy’s tossed out by his stepfather, leaving him with nowhere to go. Without having any other options, he decides to search out his father whom he hasn’t seen since he was born. And then the trouble starts. Billy’s an interesting character in that he has nothing to lose, no matter how things turn out in the end. This situation lends him the ability to do the insane and not think twice. So when he’s rescued by a seemingly crazy woman hell bent on killing vampires, he’s all in.
Written in a unique and quirky style, Transylvania, Louisiana is a great, quick read perfect for any vampire lover. With a storyline that is similar in many ways to a lot of other vampire stories, it has enough differences to make it worth reading, not to mention the unusual and fun characters it’s populated with. If you’re in the mood for a good old fashioned vampire story set in the wilds of Louisiana, then this is definitely the right book for you!
