Janet Cadsawan Announces Official Vampire Academy Jewelry Line
I couldn’t be more thrilled to be the first site to announce the official Vampire Academy Jewelry Line release today! The new line hits virtual shelves on September 24th, 2010. When jewelry artisan Janet Cadsawan approached me about this news tidbit needless to say I couldn’t wait to “sink my teeth into it” if you know what I mean! Janet’s jewelry has graced well known actor Alexander Skarsgård aka Eric Northman of True Blood and has been featured on the show. She is pairing two of my favorite things, books and jewelry and creating something very unique.
In talking with Janet she had this to say about working with books and authors to create designs like she has for Vampire Academy and The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine.
“Certainly, there is a reason for why jewelry and books go together so well. Definitely, a better reason than how Barnes & Noble and Build A Bear can be under the same roof, and most definitely, a better reason other than women who are well read like to accessorize.
It is a very simple explanation: stories have souls. I know this may sound like something out of Harry Potter, but there are stories that stay with us forever. Whether they are books, memories, myths or TV shows – they move us. The soul of a good story ignites a desire for that story to never end. After all, isn’t it the biggest compliment to an author or a director to re-read a book or re-watch a movie?
This is where jewelry and stories overlap. Jewelry can tell a story too, like a magic ring, a locket, a wax seal or a cross. Since it can be a manifestation of a person, place or memory or an inheritance. Hi Jen, Yes the S shapes are Promise Marks. Arcane Vault and I did our own designs for VA. So, both the Promise Mark and Molnija are official, just a different interpretations. I will also have all the elements including “Spirit”. On Friday, I’ll have all the graphic designs up on my website for people to download

Thanks for the clarification – but I thought that the designs Richelle Mead released on her site were the official ones? There are two? Your “S” design is lovely, but I have to admit it seems strange to have two official tattoos…what’s happening with the zvezda? Thanks for your patience – just trying to wrap my head around this one!
I can’t speak for Arcane Vault. Penguin holds the jewelry merchandising rights to VA and I licensed them and developed it separately. I love AV zvezda and haven’t developed a new one because I loved AV image so much. If there is a possibility to replicate that, I will try to do it.
