Ketrick DeSardon, a commander in a futuristic Earth military starforce, has a long history with Feyna Sy Tordenay. When she shows up on his ship to analyze his crew, he’s more than tolerant of her; in spite of the bad blood that came out of their breakup, the chemistry between them is still strong, and they end up together again almost as soon as the psychiatrist steps out of the airlock.
Feyna knows it’s a horrible idea to get involved with DeSardon again but she can’t resist the sexy commander. When he tells her that they are destined to be together, she wants to think he’s delusional, but there’s a shard of truth to his stories that seems familiar…
I have to admit, I’m a total sucker for sci-fi romances. Futuristic or alien, there’s something so fun about the not-so-inaccessible future that just makes perfect for storytelling. This novella has all the fun of serial science-fiction, both television and film, while keeping it tongue-in-cheek; lovers of classic “B-movies” should find this story fun and spicy.
There are a few typographical errors in Celestial Heat that are a little distracting, and some more backstory on the plot-related elements might have fleshed out the book a bit, but these are certainly not fatal flaws and shouldn’t keep readers away by any means.
I really had fun reading this story; this is an author with potential and I’m hoping to see more from her in this genre!
