Vadas by Jayne Waggoner
Hiding in a West Virginian forest with two wolf companions, Celic Vadis tries to learn how he ended up staked in a coffin being carried by a plane that crashed. He goes on the run to survive and find answers with law enforcement, private investigators, a coven of witches and a rich attorney looking for immortal life all on his trail. He meets a mysterious bag lady who has some of the answers he’s searching for, but most of the answers just raise more questions.
Vadas is a complex book with several side storylines weaving around the main theme. The flow is rather jerky and disconnected. There are numerous characters, and it is difficult for the reader to engage or understand their role in the book. There are also numerous storylines going on, and the main storyline frequently gets lost in the shuffle. It reminds me of going to a dinner party with a multitude of side dishes, but the hostess forgot to serve the main dish.
